Facing the Book
I lied. I was on my FB page , yesterday ... and responded to a friend's post. Yes , me.
That person SBP ( Hi , if you read this ), responded to my respond.

when she offered a big hug to the world in a cartoon
I suppose that I'm Facebooking , now.
Oh , so subtle the slide into social media
Anxiety is building , craps will be played soon
I'm practicing a little
I set up a craps table in the den. The shooting box might be a bit small but I've got a not bad system
The weather is frightful. Real cold , real bite... snow flurries are possible. We saw snow somethings in the morning , yesterday
I'm still pushing the music video ' Emmanuel ' w/ Chris Botti and Lucia Micarelli.
Sold some stock and ETF s , for a profit ... Did I say that already ??? I'll look back and retract the sentence if necessary
But it was a good day - its called taking profit which is not always do-able
I invested a large chunk of money in a Personal Portfolio Service.
The bank pools money and invests in mutual funds.
the upshot is that they charge a sliding fee based on balance of funds.
I've got ours down to 1.14 % Which is good
I can do better , w/ indexed ETF s , some at 0.33 % ( plus commission ) but moving around the funds w/ market shifts , is the hard part.
You're supposed to do a review and re- shuffle your assets... I've found this a difficult procedure in the past.
Thus , the lazy investor option
How is it doing ?? Year over year , we're talking 13 % , as well I skimmed profit during last year.
The portfolio is unchanged since inception which would be bad except for the fact that I did skim throughout the year.
The portfolio pays for a 3.65 % mortgage , monthly , and the skim
.All in all , not bad
I'm I worried , yes , I'll always worry.

When the Cold Sets in
Definitely ,a change in the air
Fall is here w/ a vengeance
Canada responded to criticism that it was ass dragging re: climate change initiatives. Canada has created jobs in line w/ normal practice , so there. Huh .
A lazy day a-brewing in the 'boro.
Sorting odds and ends , filing , organizing
Oh , I'm very good at organizing , nothing else but I'm great at organizing.... I can organize the pants off of you
Fishing is a concern , getting rod and reel and accessories ready for JA. Should take 15 sec and instead went for an hour , what can I say , some things are important
To - day , was selling day - bank stocks were sold , the avg increase was 26 % , I took the profit and will sit on the money.
I sold a World Indx ETF , and took the gain , 23 %
All in all , OK
Stay cold , stay safe

Powers
We went to our lawyer starting the process of Powers of Attorney and wills. This event happened 6 weeks ago.
He is busy. We are waiting.
The new Personal Banking Representative insisted that we make this effort a priority , hence the lawyer visit.
Instead of waiting , we downloaded forms from the Ministry of the Attorney General for both these jobs.
Of course , lacking legal expertise we could omit or add confusing language or contradict ourselves. The forms do come w/ explanations of terms and procedures
Still , these documents will exist and be acceptable to institutions
Grim stuff this. In case , you can't decide or are mentally incapable..... shiver , shiver.... quiver Oooh !
Weather : the worm turned last night , and he turned down. Last night at 9 PM we were still holding 55F . We started to -day at 39 F on the back porch ( in shade ).

BTW - Canada took the position ' we'll follow the U.S. ' .. what a cop out that was. Any goals we set are still waiting in the wings

Under the Topic
........ of ' things you didn't need or want to know about , comes
1. In a hotel room , clean the bottom of the iron
2 young ladies Bambi and Thumper ( not their real names )
showed how to make bacon and eggs in your dorm room
Place 2 - 3 strips of bacon on foil ( flat ) wrap the foil as if you were covering a sandwich. Place the foil package on a towel.
Use the high setting on the iron and iron the foil pack for 6 - 10 minutes.
2. for the eggs , use the coffee maker. Place water in the resevoir and eggs in the coffee pot. Turn on the coffee maker , let run for 6 - 7 minutes for soft boiled eggs ,10 minutes for hard boiled eggs.
Oh yeah ,check the coffee maker in your room for egg shells.
In the movie , ' Bennie and Joon ' , the 2 main characters use the iron to make grilled cheese sandwiches ( use the cotton setting )
This item made ' USA To - day ' , ' Venezuela is Importing Oil '.
Oops , we miscalculated how much oil we'd need said the president of the OPEC country. Maybe , oops doesn't quite cover it.
To - day , we try the new improved gutter cleaning system. Yesterday at the local lawn and garden Stihl dealer , for $ 49 , I bought a gutter clearing tube system. Light weight and designed to fit a Stihl leaf blower.
Results : fair to good. The tubing is easy to assemble and comes w/ clamps. I used duct tape in case the whole shebang didn't work.
The system did well on the first story and way better on the front.
The sides and back gutters aren't as accessible w/out adjusting the length ( much closer to the ground and the tubing was set for reaching high ).
The tubing is blown or lifted off the gutter by the force of the blowing air. And holding up a leaf blower plus tubing at chest height is heavy and awkward.
To - day , I will use a vacuum hose to connect between the tubing and the leaf blower. This change now requires 2 people to hold the equipment - one on the leaf blower and one holding and directing the tubing. As well, since the tubing is light , I will attach an aluminum reach pole to support the tubing.
Rube Goldberg guard your cannoli , I'm coming for you
Weather : Rain is coming BUT the backyard is golden in the sunlight w/ 46 F on the back deck. No wind that I can see.

Addendum : after the blow
Success : truthfully , yesterday despite all the glitches appears to have been at least 85 % successful
to- day : Dynomite
A few growing pains as in , the blower tubes came apart twice ( forgot to tape them to - gether.
Control excellent , cleaning terrific
Chance of falling from the ladder or roof Zilch !
The good feelings rolled and so did the red wine

Drawbacks : 20 ft of taped to - gether tubing
Taken apart , there are 2 ten foot sections : 1 rigid and 1 bendable

When the Sun Comes Out
Yes, even a cool day starts to look hopeful
Although we are cold this time of year , sun is possible
Story : 20 years ago , my cousin Brian comes home from Vancouver , B.C. ( rainy climate ) w/ girlfriend a little before Xmas.
The GF stays in my other cousin's room. My aunt hears this scream about 7 : 30 AM from upstairs and rushes up. There is the girl friend standing at the window , hands to her face.
The first time she had seen sun in close to 3 months.
So ,not only me. Sun is good
This past week was named ' Pedestrian Safety ' week. W/ diminished light , wet and leaves the city decided to focus on pedestrian safety. Result , the most hit pedestrians for the year.
Good idea , but conditions didn't favour pedestrian safety.
As well , a bus and a car bounced off buildings this week end. A bus entered the CIBC bank through the glass facade and a BMW careened off a curb and tree and smacked a house.
Stay safe , stay off the sidewalks , if you value your life

Like Clockwork
... Shoppers Drug Mart ( read , CVS or Walgreens ) offers a coupon. 20 X the points or some such
Last week , $ 20 off if you spent 75. Not points , dollars
Wandering the store , I find an ' Akai ' base speaker set for TV etc.
The speaker is meant to be the stand for your TV. As if the TV wouldn't be tippy enough already.
59.95 minus 20 is 40
Wow. Of course , I picked it up
Now to get to 75. This and that
At the register , I look at the machine - 97 dollars
Yepper , after the rebate , we still spent 97
Can I find a deal ?
Is there no end to my genius ????
OK. Unpack the speaker.
Unplug the remote speakers that we had been using
Our TV is bracket mounted , I put the new speaker ( flat affair )
under the PVR and DVD player. All fits neatly
Ready,
No sound. Play w/ the remote for the speaker ( yes , just what we needed another remote for the TV ).
Unplug and replug. Lights are on , and no one home
Choose TV menu , select audio. Sound out ' on ' NO
Flick the icon , dadah - sound. Great acoustics , really.
Well ,anything beats the 6 Watt speakers on the TV.
Problem , if we got sound by turning on ' sound out ' what was happening w/ the other speakers that were plugged into the same port. Criminy , I was sure sound came out of the remote speakers
that I switched out.
This base speaker , also allows BluTooth connection for other devices computer , phone etc.
and the sucker turns itself on when the TV starts.
It allows accentuated bass sound and has its own mute
and of course , volume
Weather : between leaves and rain , something is falling all the time and it's cold
' Remo Williams the Adventure Continues ' says it all
Remo Williams is the Destroyer , Shiva made incarnate
A practioner of Shinanju , mystical fighter for good
