The movie is " The Missouri Breaks " w/ Jack Nicholson (hero almost ) and Marlon Brando ( villain and a little bit more ). The storyline, a gang of horse thieves ( whom you get to like ) is eaking out a living in Montana on the breaks of the Missouri R. A regulator, Lee Clayton ( Brando ) is hired to end the thieving. JN as Tom Logan sets about to tweak the rancher who hired Clayton and the rancher himself. Love gets in the way - doesn't it always. While not overtly gruesome ( all the murders are tastefully done - but graphic ), this is not a kiddies western. Smaller roles went to Randy Quaid,.............................. . The promo calls this movie , the long awaited merger of Brando and Nicholson. Well, they are both in it, and share a couple of scenes however, you better like the movie for itself. Why ?
I don't know. Sometimes I fall for a movie title ( kinda runs around in my head ) and I accept the rest. The interplay between Tom Logan and love interest-daughter of the rancher, Jane Braxton (Kathleen Lloyd ? )
is touching and fairly worldly definitely not your regular cowboy - cowgirl shtick.
By titles I mean, e.g. " Sometimes a Great Notion ", Henry Fonda and Paul Newman plus " Nobody's Fool" Paul Newman, Bruce Willis, Jessica Tandy and Melanie Griffiths but these are acting gems for sure.
