last night a ' window ' appeared on the phone. " critical low battery ".
thus, 5 days in and the thermostat reports a ' critical ' 
upshot:  called the Telco and 48 minutes later.  < well, it likely the batteries were old >

Telco, is sending new batteries b/c I used 4 of my own AA batteries
