I've been to the attic, about 4 or 5 times.
This area is non-inhabitable and not user friendly. In the summer, its hot and sticky.
Now, in fall, is a great time to check.
There was insulation blown in 12 years ago, so this lint like stuff sticks to all your clothes and you need a mask to breathe.
I'm going up to check on the vents and if these vents are open and free.
As well, I'm searching for places to add soffit ventilation. Somehow this house missed out on the breather slots on the back side of the house.
We installed a steel roof , maybe, 2 and 1/2 yrs ago. The roofer, supervisor, suggested adding more soffit ventilation. This work is easier said than done. most contractors want a bigger job.e.g $ 4000, to climb a ladder. Their concerns are an overall appearance ( read, more money ) , a job that will last ( read more money ). The supervisor dude finishes up w/ ' and this is not a big job, so don't pay the moon '. Yeah.
Well, finally, located a local guy who seems to get the picture. He finishes w/ ' not everyone can do this but if you're careful, you slide the new soffit in '. We'll see.
I remember, when the insulation guys came, they threw open the steel door and ducked. Ducked ? They were making sure a racoon or squirrel didn't come racing out.
Now, I take a rake and defend myself. No critter attack yet, but those guys have probably seen it all.
This attic crawl requires plastic bags over your socks, disposable overalls and mask. The light is limited so, I'll need a cordless light. Smack in the middle of the day, the light is poor but you can see. This is the plan.
We are bright and sunny. to-morrow bodes rain. In the GWN, we take it as it comes.
Right. You should have heard me yesterday, sunny but cold and windy.
