Batten down the hatches and shiver me timbers. There'll be a high tide to-day ( full moon ) w/ storm surge all along the eastern seaboard.
High winds and rain, will down trees and power lines - causing electrical black-outs.
Um, sounds like fun. Well I tried to fill the bathtub as a source of extra water but the plug leaks, so I filled garbage cans and wash basins.
I've got a ' kelly kettle ' which is a double walled chimney. you set a fire in the bottom and the heat warms the walls of the chimney but there is water in between the walls. With small branches or chopsticks ( got a ton of those ) the KK will heat a pint and 1/2 of water in six minutes.
Apparently, this device dates back to sheep herders who depended on the KK ( not KKK ) to heat water w/out starting a bonfire.
I've also got two candle lanterns which decorate the bedroom mirror shelf. Still haven't used these. In ten years. but they're cute.
Back to ' Salmon fishing in the Yemen ' as mentioned one could look back with some poignancy and compare the situations. They're killing each other in the Yemen, right now.
The movie, on one level focuses on people from differing cultures and climates finding a common goal, salmon in the desert.
On the cynical, superficial level is a government trying to create and push an agenda, all w/ the aim of PR spin. ( is this a redundancy, what is PR, spin, right ! )
And personally, 2 men who share a passion come to realize that the difference between faith and science, may not be that far apart.
and ultimately, a little of both anyway, never hurts.
And EB, when she stands there, its enough.
Oh well, shades of Grace Kelly etc. BTW, she was a babe too.
Later in the day.
Went to Canadian Tire for a replacement cabin air filter in the Toyota. The ads say its important to change you filter. Buy Fram, says the ad. They don't tell you that the replacement filter costs $24.
To be fair, I took out a corrugated filter ( one layer ) and the replacement is two layers with Arm and Hammer baking soda in between the layers ( to deodorize ).
I purchased a battery pack that will jump start your car or provide a little remote power about 6 months ago. It has cable clamps and a socket for plug in power. At the Tire there was a power bar w/ AC socket that will take the cables or it has a socket for D.C. plug in.
As well it will allow a USB plug in.
Several of my smaller devices need to recharge via USB and usually I plug in to the computer and I don't like doing that. So, even if its a bit clumsy at least I can charge via USB w/ out the computer.
And I bought a 24 pck of water, in case, of emergency.
