Sunday Coming Down
?
Popped into my head and thought ' why does the title have to make sense ? '
I'll change it later
I'm still binge watching Penn and Teller
and I find the host Allyson Hannigan very appealing.
I even Googled AH to find out about her. She did prime roles on TV sitcoms, of course. However, she is quite content w/ the the gig on P&T. She s cute.
The built in laptop keyboard has been mistyping. We lost symbols
and got replacements from other languages.
In fact, I lost the @ symbol. It is back but apostrophe is gone
OK after some research - its not just me w/ this problem
seems everyone goes through this stuff
Thus, to recap: while typing the @ symbol a " apostrophe " showed up and ? got me an ' e w/ accent "
The cure : hit shift + control together
Aha, but the truth is: the only sure way is to catch the pop up window and change the keyboard setting. I switched from English Canada to English US.
And all is back to normal
For now
BTW Canada is the World Indoor Lacrosse champion.
fifth time in a row, undefeated at the WILC all time

Awake and Sleepy
at 5:30 AM
That will make 4 days in a row.
B/c it is 10:30 in the UK. Our sleep patterns are buggered up - it seems. Now, I've been in bed thus more out of kilter for that.
Well, missed a nap this afternoon. I binge watched ' Fool Us ' which is the Penn and Teller challenge magic show. Contestants try to perform tricks that P & T can't figure out.
Weather was the fall mix but warm by a bit

On Being Laid Up
in bed
At least the Chromebook is small enough to be handy lying in bed.
Thus. I found the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships which are being held in Langley, B.C.
The games are played Pacific Time - so 3 hours behind < not very convenient b/c a 8PM game there is 11 P local.
However, the TV coverage in Canada is streaming via a website Lacrosse Sports Network. I've watched games live at comfortable times for us here. But better yet they archive and let you access the games as replays.
Canada, has never lost a game since 2003 ( the first tournament, and played every 4 years ). Canada is something like 29 - 0 overall. The goal difference in those games is Canada 380 vs 176 for the other guys.
Well, we can't beat England at Rugby or soccer or darts or political drama. Last night though, it was Canada 21 and England 4. I'll watch the game in a few minutes.
The weather is our September - October type < blustery and damp and of course rain / drizzle >.
And I look outside and see the chores that I should be doing
BUT why didn't these jobs get done when I was able to get out
Aha ! slaggard I suspect
However, many financial items got dealt with

How Do you Stand Out
oldest, smallest
Pubs, I mean. Well, the champion may be the ' Dog and Sausage ' - the brass plaque reads :
" the Coldest toilet in Jersey
management accepts no responsibility for damages "
We got out safe
Glad that they didn't claim ' best food '
OK still bed ridden w/ cold and fever
best part is drinking brandy anytime that I need numbing
Surprise, thats all day
The guys are chomping to go fishing and I'm dying here
Still dying or trying

After the Neocitran
at 8:20 P
Woke at 3:30 AM, all clogged up. Couldn't breath.
Rinsed w/ saline to clear out the goop in my sinuses. Had a beer and went back to sleep.
Awake now - sorta
Thus, we ask was the jet lag worth the visit. YES !
But don't make me do it again too soon. I need time to forget.
The trip:
Flew to London Heathrow and were greeted by the cousin. We were allowed time to snuggle into their home
Train to Reading < transfer > and Bath Spa ( the city ). We knocked around the Georgian themed city - art galleries and pubs.
On one day we visited the oldest pub in Bath, the Saracens Head ( re-visited actually ) and the smallest pub in Bath, the Couer de Lion.
Got back to our temporary home in Ashford Middlesex and washed and packed. B/c M s cousins and second cousins and sister came to gather in Staines Upon Thames ( quite nearby ).
Laughing and drinking ensued - and ensued. Snuck in a visit to the Battle of Britain Bunker
Got back to our temporary home and washed and packed. Chilled for a day
Flew to the States of Jersey from London s Gatwick airport.
We managed a island tour < rocky wind swept coasts and castles etc
The remaining German tunnels meant for defense of the island from the British during WW II.
Lastly, took a wine tour on the island.
Temporary home for 2 days, did some wash and packed
And here we are

Changeable Weather
as fronts sweep toward the northern mainland of Europe
Rain -> sun -> rain w/ steady winds through the day
All day and its 4 PM
And I got a reminder that this is autumnal equinox.
A marker for the changing seasons.
I caught a cold < I think > kinda running a bit of temperature.
I'm so smart, a sicky on the last night of the trip. But we are safe at the cousins - and fed etc. I'm warm and in bed. So, pretty lucky, all in all.

Island to
island
35 minute flight from Jersey cream to the 3 Lions
And they watch rugby to boot
World Cup from Japan
Sapporo beer and Sapporo city
We watched the Jersey Ports dragon boat challenge
The boats were dragon headed and teams carried inventive names:
our fav Usain Boat
or
None < nun > Left Behind and yes they were sisters in drag
FYI, the States of Jersey have a population of 109 000 but 149 000 cars. This occurs on an island 5 x 9 mi

the Sunny Isles
of the Channel
the States of Jersey, by name - the Bailiwick of Jersey.
Jersey's own rules of law etc apply here.
Home of the - yes - Jersey cow. Great milker - soft and dreamy eyes and pleasant barrel shape body
Not kidding, they love their cows here.
I agreed to come on this side trip b/c our hosts seemed kinda keen on the idea. However, a real eye opener - this. Scenery is wind swept cliffs and wide beaches. The ameniites in this place are top notch. A bus will carry you around the island for £ 2 < contactless pay , they mean ' tap ' your card >

WW II
lives on and we shouldn't forget
We've been reminded of the World War by visits to the Battle of Britain bunker at Uxbridge, Middlesex and the Jersey War Tunnel on the island.
And to forget the sacrifices and the people who lived the times would be an error. Now, it would help if there was some effect on politicians etc or people in general to realize ' what war is '
Unfortunately of course, there are people rediscovering this fact as I type.

I should explain when events are over and results known

Apologies all
We re - upped w/ M s relatives who laugh and drink like drovers.
Extremely easy going and fun

Therapy
and blogging
Venturing into the blogosphere, is therapeutic.
Me
And others
I watched a video segment on a ' rising ' men's tennis player. Right now he is 150 th or so, and couldn't qualify for the U.S. Open.
But he does blog at ' Behind the Racket '. Where he and other players and non - players tell about themselves. He is Noah Reuben. I think once you get on YouTube that your privacy is in the toilet anyway.
NR talked of the blogging as ' therapy '. Obviously, to help himself but also others who get to share themselves.
To wit, in a given year so far, he almost breaks even playing 30 or so tournaments a year. If he does qualify for the Open, he doubles his yearly take. Yes, 25 tournaments = 50 K and qualifying for a big tournament = 50 K
I discovered on line that Bianca Andreescu has an endorsement deal that pays $ 50 000 for a year. The chain of restaurants is called Copper Branch.
The media experts are thinking of 4 - 10 million for endorsement deals now. But the right fit is important - thus a careful course is going to be plotted.
The scuttlebutt says that endorsements will be ten fold what she won at the Open.
Eek !
WTG, BA
not British Airways b/c their pilots are striking and going no where for 2 days
I've decided to publish ' phake nu s '
No 1. Donald Trump is handsome
This assertion needs to be fact checked
Wowzers ! Found. Linda Ronstadt live w/ the Stone Ponies, singing ' Different Drum ' her / their first hit. I've got the single < 45 rpm >.
But this is a VEVO disc ( ????? )
And its almost jazzy but she is so good. I bookmarked the YouTube.

Yes, everything sounds muted, slightly
Damp w/ sprinkles of hope as the sun valiantly tries to break through
Ah, all thoughts turn to breakfast - or all my thoughts turn to breakfast
The standard is pan fried grill cheese w/ ham slice
Started at the locale pictured above and then....... Walked the old town. 3 pubs, Couer de Lion< smallest pub in Bath >, Saracens' Head < oldest > and Star Inn. But no hot food at Star as recommended < too early ? > .Anywho went to the super grocery, Morrisons' - which had eveything
BBQ chicken + salad and booze
Vat else - could U want We didn't
Gret dinner, a little of this and a little of everything else

and the rain came
overnight
and stayed the day
The cars made sloshing sounds on the roads
Dull and dampish - slight cool feel as well
Teaching Old Dogs
to :
Use an induction range < no flame or glowing burner >
First turn the bloody thing ' on '
Choose minutes even if you haven't a clue
how long that you need
Plug in your bus stop on the map of the city and the app tells you the time of the next bus. Neat. Untested as of yet, will it work ?
And the biggie. The press coffee maker
??????????????? betcha instant would taste just as good
The water came down in dribs and drabs
Nothing major, the English didn't even notice
' Carry On, what ?'
Bus schedule apparently is pretty much loosey goosey
9: 10 give or take 12 minutes
What do you do on holidays ?
Of course, watch TV but excellent shows.
My latest discovery was ' Puzzle ' an independent film
starring Kelly McDonald and Irfan Khan ( great great on screen delivery ). She can solve jigsaw . In fact, wins the doubles National Championship.
We were dead to-day b/c we stayed up for 3 parts of a British drama ' Halcyon ' < the name of a hotel >
Way too late. Felt like doggie poo this morning.
However, what is life w/out a little excess

AC or
DC
or AC/DC
Last night, we saw the ' Current War ' or
George Westinghouse vs Thomas Edison. The turn of the century battle for the visionary who would electrify America < literally >
Benedict Cumberbatch does Edison and a famous actor does GW.
Fascinating storyline, where the bankers and money men come off looking ' mean and greedy '. Go figure !
Your friendly neighbourhoodbanker spiderman - see that doesn't work even
The venue was Pinewood Studios home of many famous movies e.g. the James Bond series. We sar in comfy and roomy chairs. The studio sat approximately 300 which is small for a major theatre.
Why ? so few
B/c this is the auditorium for executives viewing films for evaluation.

from Ashford
don't you know
I've decided after many hours surfing YouTube that my advice to music video submitters is ' don't sing '
Not that there are not quality singers, more that the singing can detract from a fairly competent accompaniment.
I'm sure that I'll get much criticism from my 3 readers but I can take it.
The harp is a mellow instrument but I couldn't take a whole lot of harping.
My latest ' find ' is ' the Cavatina from the Deer Hunter ' by Stanley Myers. Now, to be fair. I'm listening to John Williams and Kaori Muraji play.
Exceptionable guitar skills are represented there.
After all my praise of Chromebook and Google, the latest update changed the protocol for gmail so that there is no sign out form gmail.
In essence the gmail account is live all the time you would say, be searching on the net,
Not what I want
And it might be the main culprit is the Chromebook itself. I'm using a HP - Windows laptop right now, on Chrome - and yes I can sign out < so far >

#2422 or ' the longest story '
as I've said before the ' blogoshpere ' is littered w/ the
blogs that stopped
no farewell
just bingo bango
gone
Not so here
the niche hasn't been filled that lets me quit
a Canadian has reached the quarter finals of the U.S. Open Tennis
at the Billie Jean King edifice and confectionery.
Darkish and damp looking out there
Appreciation. Our English cousins ( her English cousins ) get a shout out. K . T . L etc. for all their effort for us
I need to see Captain Marvel. Apparently, not the best
But the buzz on the Great Wall was the same.... ' really thats all you got ' kinda of reviews
I still have tGW on record on the PVR thingy from Rogers Ignite
thats the telco s name
There is a new best seller out there " Dorian's Way "
Watch out here she comes, moving slow and doing bad
Predicted as of 10:30AM to stay oceanward and avoid landfall in Fla. But headed too close to land to get complacent. Dor' as she is called by dear friends is being steered by two high pressure bulges
over the U.S. and far out to seaward
These highs are not powerful though and could weaken. Dor' is just looking for an excuse to veer

Holiday Monday
for Canadians. Called Labour Day
Sun. Really, bright and sparkly.
I slept in, still drowsy
Still sunny
What a slow day. How slow
so slow
snail speed - like the mail
No, the day didn't get any faster
' they also serve who only stand and wait '
Sun. Really, bright and sparkly.
I slept in, still drowsy
Still sunny
What a slow day. How slow
so slow
snail speed - like the mail
No, the day didn't get any faster
' they also serve who only stand and wait '

Sunnyday
Sunday
how appropriate
Dorian is a lazy hurricane slow and wobbly but picking up moisture like nobody's business. Target ?
anywhere from the Keys to N Carolina.
Well, its Giant Tiger day. Also Caesar Sunday.
We shall see.
Liar ! Liar ! You'd think that I was a politician
Sunny became cloudy and drizzles happened
It is our fall cool kinda weather
OK OK very little sun actually and more drizzle
