Apr 30 in T.O.

not very creative as a title
but true

A dull day w/ critters moving all over the yard

I forget if I mentioned that our new remote from the Telco is a ' voice command ' device.
Thats right. Name the station or the program or a slogan or line from the show or movie - and the system finds the show.

A retrospective look at technology in our house.
Prior to Apr this year, our TV was satellite and our internet and phone was delivered via telephone line w/ enormous limitations.

Right now I'm typing on a PC given to me by A ostensibly to make it easier for me to show movies. The receipt of the PC was late October 2018. The equipment sat in a corner of the workroom and every once in a while I'd see it and go ' oh yeah ' that.

Now, of course, the whole house is Wi Fi for computers and television. And to my amazement when I tried the donated PC for use w/ a photo scanner, so was the PC.
thus, in the basement I save and edit photos for the family archives or vaults ( do people still have vaults - well, maybe the cloud ) but also have a third computer for flexibility.

So, I'm not smart just able to take advantage of possibilities that perhaps other people threw in my way. Although, I did pay a small fortune for the photo scanner in 2008. And now find other people find it useful.

Sunny Start

fades to gray and very windy

Not a lot of hope for the temperature, maybe topping at 45 or so.

Finally, M is acknowledging that the new bundled TV-Internet-Phone package is not bad or better than the previous services.
We'll check what they charged us

Big Sun Comes to T.O.

Our Raptors and BlueJays won

Breaking : #20 Johns Hopkins takes down #2 Maryland.
Do this and you get :
a winning record
a trophy the size of full grown boar shaped like a crab
bragging rights across Baltimore

and a chance to do it again in 1 week
Yes.
By a quirk of something or other, in the B1G, JHU's conference, the last 5 weeks are play in games for the B1G championship. Thus, first in conference plays 4 and 2 ( Maryland ) plays 3 ( JHU ).
Penn State beat Rutgers by a goal and you got it play them again in a week.
The score  was 16 - 11. Hop started slow, so slow it seemed like game over by 8 min of the first quarter.
Then somehow the BJ s go on a 6 - 1 run and the game looks like its on.
The Columbia blue go on to solidify the lead and play real defence.
However, all fairy tales come to an end and # 18 ( in Division 1 )or whatever Hopkins will have to beat # 4 Maryland. Their rankings will change b/c of this win for JHU.
This 2019 has been a year of upsets from week 1. Usually, though by this time of the year, the chemistry or personality of the team is set and predictable.
Hopkins men's lax has a roster of good to very good players. No real stud or game changer in one player.
But in basic lacrosse such a winning face-offs and taking groundballs ( called the 50 - 50 game ) the BJ s have been up and down. In stats, JHU is 6 - 1 if they win the groundball battle.
There were games when the Hop face-off guy, Kyle Prouty won 18 of 29 ( very good ) and Hopkins despite an 7 possession edge, won by a goal.
Erratic and peripatetic. And very much how its been for several years.

Go Jays Go !

Cooler and dryer out there, but SUNNY

Drowning in Plastic

in Manila but its Canadian refuse thats sitting there

Canadians are taking the blame for not reducing plastic waste or dealing with the stuff at home
Apparently, we tend to ship the waste off shore

Bad people ! Bad people !

Come on - its just us doing this ?

Friday 26 April 2019

a Rainy Day in Georgia

is the song but

I think it raining all over the world
At least here in the Big Smoke

We have flooding occurring throughout our country
In Quebec to the East, they are discussing how to buy out property owners instead of sending them back to frequently flooded areas.
Sort of the rule : don't build where the water flows

Windy, gray and humid

Thursday 25 April 2019

Sunny in the Big Smoke

we elected a new gov't that has brought in $1 beer which you can't find
                                                                     increase class sizes
                                                                     cutting library funding
may stop out of country health                                                                                                                     benefits

Other than that - things are good

The day starts cool and gets better
the truck goes in for a recall : water from the trunk may drip on the fuel pump
this is not good

Wednesday 24 April 2019

the Best on The Tube

TV

the Great Wall, saved on the PVR
I've fallen in love w/ the girl drummers
in their blue armour

The day started around 40 F and was due to rise
w/ threat of rain
Looks humid right now

I purchased a photo / slide / negative scanner back in 2008. I worked diligently to process somewhere in the realm of 300 items.
Recently, by happenstance a cousin's cousin asked if anyone had saved albums, photos etc. Of course, I opened my mouth.
I opted to share what I had my my mom's side cousins
who were glad to see the photos.
Q : what are you going to do w/ them
A: guess I'll digitize them
Now thoughts of hours of slogging filled my head.
I got a start yesterday
It is slogging
Boy, do I need encouragement

And what I fear is that I'm sure that I'll find a load of slides that need dealing with

Thinking : maybe should ahve started this in ad weather
like the ' Bleak Midwinter '

Tuesday 23 April 2019

A Year Ago To-day

here in the city a person purposefully rammed walkers and standing victims w/ a van.

I try to keep things upbeat in the blog but thought a mention would be alright. In memoriam.

Full sun and close to 50F  < on the N facing back porch  >. And as the Johns Hopkins crowd sings ' we want more '

On the Telco front. The technician came on Thur last.
He walks around and checks wires etc < inside and outside the house >. He looks down at the modem ( the cable input and output for telephone ) which supplies the house w/ Wi Fi and says, pointing ' Did you pit this here ? '
I replied ' the box ? '
Tech then says ' no, the reducer '
Me : huh ?
Then he gets it, that this isn't my fault.
Thus, he unscrews the reducer on the input port. The explanation is that the original tech put the reducer there to avoid large fluctuations in the signal.
Of course, you don't really need it.
Further, the tech said he noticed the reducer b/c over coffee a week before, an older friend / supervisor had said ' if you get intermittent problems ( us ) on regular TV, take out the reducer '
Thus, had the tech not had coffee or I hadn't called in for service, our intermittent problems were just about guaranteed.

I ran the spreed test on the internet. Last week, I recorded numbers such as 330 Mb/s. To-day, the download speed touched 444 mps. Or up a third give or take.

Monday 22 April 2019

Easter dInner - the learning experience

in fact, we should always be learning

While we wolfed down chocolate Easter eggs post dinner - a second cousin / daughter / niece berated us.
Apparently, the chocolate that we were eating contains palm oil ( most chocolate does ). The source of the palm oil ( one assumes that its palm trees ) is decreasing in the world.
The loss of habitat is pushing orangutans to extinction.
There ! Stop eating chocolate.
Did no good last night but maybe we will start looking out for that.

Finally, wrote a long missive to a cousin out West. I've been berating myself mentally for not doing a better job of staying in touch w/ Western relatives of which there are many.
I sent out an email to remind people to check their dryer vent and clean them out.
In reply, I received a thank you and a multi paragraph report from a cousin on Vancouver Is.
This A.M. I responded w/ a message of my own. And self congratulations are in order it seems. I'm so proud of myself.
Now truth be told if she read my blog then that email wouldn't have been necessary. Unfortunately, she is not one of the three who do.
You are. Thanks.

The week offers mostly hope weather wise - rain yes but very mild temperatures.
Out there is gray and humid looking  ( is humid a look ? - guess so ).

I remediated my robin proofing under the deck and apparently created a haven for sparrows to nest. Is this lesson along the lines of ' when God closes a door he opens a window ' sort of thinking ?
We shall see said the Zen Master.
Nature will out - or some such

This morning's coffee is spiked w/ Bailey's Almond liqueur. A good morning.

Oh, at Shoppers Drug Mart, Kraft peanut butter ' only peanuts ' was on sale. In the kitchen, I open the jar and find a lake of oil on top of the contents. The foil seal has ' stir and store upside down in the refrigerator ' printed in bold letters. Kinda makes you wonder what they put in regular peanut butter b/c it sure doesn't do that.
Tastes good, though. Maybe, too good.
Well, I'm going to die of something and ' peanuting to death ' seems not too bad an end. Maybe they'll need to store me upside down to keep me from separating.

Grim that, oh well its life. As the Buddhists say ( at least my kind of Buddhist ), Life is Dukha ( or suffering ). We struggle through this life. W/out chocolate it seems would be best.

I wonder if peanut tree deforestation is affecting the orangutans. Sorry there dudes. I can see the no chocolate in my diet but peanut butter is a different ball game.
And marmalade. Alright, marmalade deforestation is ruining the world too !
I give up.

I'm eating no more trees ! Watch out beavers cause they are coming for you next !
Thought you were so clever eating palm trees up there in Northern Canada. The world is watching !

Time to quit this - harangue
Always wanted to use that word in the blog

Disaffected is the word I want to use next issue.

Easter Sunday

damp
Cool

The sun even popped out for a peek and boo routine

Family dins at the cousins. We fought the traffic both ways.

Saturday 20 April 2019

Damp

and gray

What else !

However, it is hopeful still
it is spring and you can tell
feels like everything is waiting

We are watching ' Treasures of Egypt '
Get this one : She was a queen of Egypt ( a pharoah )
She was in a power struggle w/ her nephew who was also her step-son
Egad, guys
I think that means that she married her brother
Right ?
Yech and all that
Come on
No one else was available ?

Finished watching ' Crazy Rich Asians ' on Crave TV like in HBO. And they were
Crazy
Rich
Asians

Friday 19 April 2019

our window

and what it shows

The world is damp to-day. Somehow tho' there is a filling-in process going on. The view in winter is stark and open. But to-day, I've noticed that the woods are closing in and closing up - much like in summer when a green wall forms at the edge of our property. < not there yet or even close but its there >

We get rain and wind for four days - bouts of cloudy and sunshine but the dominant theme is wet.

For the past month, off and on, I've been thinking about the dryer and lint build up. About 2 years ago, I took off the back plate and found a nest of lint, dust and tissue. Actually, baseball size - just flattened. Now, it took some years to get that big BUT I was wondering what s in there now.
No need to wonder. Removed the back cover and found - a bit of dust and lint - ping pong ball size.
I'll need to wait a little longer before worrying again.

Thursday 18 April 2019

Robin - proof ?

or ?

I reported that one of many chores was deterring robins from nesting under the deck. To that end I meshed the opening under the deck above the cross beams. This year, I raised the mesh slightly to discourage the robins.
Well, the sparrows have found the opening just right for them. The little buggers were flying in and out of the opening - no problem dude. The sparrows were happy flitting in and out

Temperature is 40 + and will rise.
And did you know that there is a ' wind map ' site on that you can Google ? And apparently, the host of Metro morning had watched the map during the time over the last week or so. The winds touched 30 - 40 mph, and said it was enlightening to see where the winds came originated.

Wednesday 17 April 2019

Come On Sun

looks great out there

Clear and bright like a penny.

159 Channels and I search at night for something to watch
Don't know what is sadder the nothing on
OR that I'm searching

Maybe I need to go out and look at the stars
or glow from the city lights.

Gal Gadot is doing commercials for Hauwei and cosmetics - what a hot babe

I'm watching Nick Jr or Nickelodeon in the morning w/ its cartoons - turly pathetic

OK switched to the ' Great Wall ' which would be the fifth time I'm watching it.
I've fallen for the girl drummers in their electric blue armour and theyd rum real good too !

Alright, I have no life -lets just admit it

Yesterday, I put up a leaf fence to keep leaves from blowing across from the west side neighbour.           As well, I robin-proofed the underside of the deck b/c she builds a nest every year and its a mess under there.
The side door on the garage has a lock that decides when it wants to open or did all winter.
Hopefully, the sucker will open when I want, now.
Fired in some Jig-a-loo lubricant and it seemed to respond, I mean who doesn't want a shot of Jig-a-loo
in the morning.

Tuesday 16 April 2019

Telcom and Us

we had experienced some visual pauses

and sound glitches. We called and apparently there were some power surges in the lines.
We gave up on cable 20 years ago when the ' companies ' - yes, companies. We had 3 companies in 2 years, that kept telling us that squirrels were affecting our cable service.
Now, there are power surges or somesuch.
To note, these problems are blips and annoying in minor ways.

The temperature will be 45 + and rain is off - on kinda - sounds like spring

Monday 15 April 2019

Rainy Days and Mondays

ala Carpenters

The day is running at 40 F w/ overcast conditions and rain is due. Clearing will occur over the night.

Improvements around our place incl a stairlift, the driveway was coated w/ sealer and the gap created by the waterproofing dig was asphalted over.
In my mind, appearances around the front were greatly changed by the driveway upgrade.

Sunday 14 April 2019

Retro - Winter

Temperatures fell overnight
we start at 34 F Sunday

This drop is a blip and Monday etc will look to be in the 40 - 50 at least.

I semi - follow the Ebola outbreaks for interest. See as copied here from CBC on line

The outbreak in Congo, also known as Congo-Kinshasa, has resulted in 1,220 confirmed and probable cases, including 772 deaths, since it was declared on Aug. 1. It has become the second-deadliest in history, behind the West African one from 2014-16 that killed more than 11,300 people.

This outbreak has had political, armed and social problems. Likely this outbreak will need 6 months or so to settle out.
Fake news - many Congo-ese are claiming that Ebola is a government trick.
The area is rife w/ civil war
Distrust of the government has fueled attacks on Doctors Without Borders' aid stations forcing closures.
Ugly is what it is

Saturday 13 April 2019

a View from Here

sun
green birds and squirrels

The day starts at 46 F out there on the porch
We are expecting good things to-day

And we got our first Telcom bill for the new ' bundle '
Egads, they invented new math.
They call it a bundle
and thats what they charged a ' bundle '

Sunny day w/ dabs of cloud but a good finish w/ red still clinging on the horizon ( at 8:20 )

Friday 12 April 2019

my 2 cents worth

movie reviews

While exercising, I've taken advantage of our Netflix subscription. I've been given ample proof of the belief that there is a lot of sub standard movieola being pumped out.
However, I'm surprised now and then. " Highway Men " actually well done and interesting at many levels. Bonnie and Clyde are terrorizing banks and businesses. The governments respond. The regular law can't cope w/ mobile criminals seen as the ' Robin Hoods 'of the Southern U.S.
Hence, the highway men. Ex Texas Rangers are hired on a pro tem basis ( I'm not sure what that means but always wanted to use the phrase ). Get your man ( or woman too ! ) is the mandate.
They succeed. In the mean time, we get a good look at life in the South. The times and the troubles for sure. Kevin Kostner and Woody Harrelson are dour, slightly cynical lawmen doing their job. Scary. In many ways.
I'd never even heard of this one. A definite recommend.

" the Great Wall ", Hollywood blockbuster set and shot in China. BIG is the word. Colour, scope and action are all BIG. How big ? Haven't a clue. The extras or CGI must have been enormous, I really couldn't tell which.
The plot, ravaging toothed critters, pour out of the mountains every six decades to exact revenge on an Emperor who went too far. The animals are like scavenger ants except that they are the size of Volkswagons. TG for the Great Wall and Matt Damon.
You know, I always thought the Great Wall was overkill and had to have been built for other reasons then for tourists or Calvary to use. Now, I know why that wall was built.
Reviews were tepid at best, some even scornful. Along w/ regular TV channels the Telcom offered HBO and Crave as a promo. This movie was on Crave.
Pro s : colour   ,   action   ,  an interesting peek at a culture. A subtle woman's rights film as well.
The troops are broken into divisions and the divisions are colour coded.
Well, women in armour, always sexy. Get this, the women get royal blue armour that makes them look like a Marvel super - hero or gymnast. Babes is what you get. And the blue warriors are athletes and gymnasts in battle. I'm going to re-watch ( taped it or PVR d it ) just for the girls.

I'm recommending this until M sees this review.

Weather, on its way to super fine. Temperatures will flirt w/ the 65 number and surpass that to-morrow.

Thursday 11 April 2019

Reprise

in the bleak midwinter ????????

again !
Well ,we didn't get 12 in like Sioux Falls Somewhere
last night. But we start the day at 30 F and go up a smidge

News, we have a stairlift. One flight. The chair blocks 2/3 of the stairway. You kinda swivel to get past. We are not talking ' Indy car ' speed here. However ,the knees are not getting younger or better.
I guess we are staying awhile in this house

I've reported sleep difficulties often quoting Paul Simon's ' I don't expect to sleep through the night '
from Obvious Child.
I'm not alone. I discovered on article on the ' sleep industry ' and if you thought that I meant ' Sleep Country Canada ' and beds - guess what. This is an excerpt from a news article
Weighted blankets, smartphone apps, diffusers, white noise machines, "smart" beds that moderate the temperature of your mattress — the range of products designed to help you sleep better than a baby is inventive and ever-expanding. >

The list above didn't include a coffee maker for your bedside plus toaster [ correct ? B ]

Note : be careful when you make joke.

Further reading discloses that naps should be less than 30 min which means no deep REM sleep and you wake easily
OR 90 minutes such that you do get REM sleep and complete a sleep cycle.
Wait for it !
There is ' nappucino ' in which you drink a coffee and nap for the 30 minutes. B/c it takes the caffeine approx 30 minutes to simulate you, then you get the nap and the later burst of get up and go from the coffee

Be careful what you joke about

And it turns out my naps in bed are wrong. Apparently, napping in bed ruins the association of bed w/ sleep at night. I'm supposed to find a quiet dark place ( think cave ) for napping.

BTW - as a sleep aid, there are CD s by let's say Matthew McConaughey to read you to sleep.

The latest kufuffle

here

Along w/ a new Telecom provider which obviously had its share of disruption

came a new handsfree phone set from Walmart

The situation is that the base phone for handsfree has to be w/in 6 ft of the modem which is the broadcast hub for all services in the house. That location ( close to the TV itself ) is not handy for us to pick up or visually identify callers.

Thus, instead of the pre-owned 3 handset system we bought a 5 handset system.

We charged all units overnight. Then this morning, I plugged in the base unit and handsets.
Lets try the system out
Yepper, 5 phones ring all over the house, crazy.
OK.  Silence 3 phones.
Try again.
Oops ! By default when volume is on ( 2 phones ) the handsets announce the caller < call from unknown caller > Annoying !!!!!!
How to turn off - caller ID announce.
Checked the booklet - YES ! its there
Punch in the code
Try again ------ Crikey she still is talking to us.

On line, at YouTube, there is a video " Turn ON Caller ID Announce " I had failed to choose < handset  or base >
Try again
Success

To quote Emily Dickenson, " Success in counted sweetest
By those who ne'er succeed "
[ seems to be me all the time, these days ]

" To comprehend a nectar
Requires sorest need
Not one of all the purple host
Who took the flag to-day
Can tell how sweet
The call of victory
As he defeated dying
Upon whose forbidden ear
The distant sounds of trumpets
Break agonized and clear

The weather is gray and the wind is up - making the day feel cool
To-morrow is the 34 F day
and then we warm.

frost on the pumpkin to-night

Tuesday 9 April 2019

Hellboy returns

really

If this announcemnt caught you by surprise
it doesn't matter
Rotten Tomatoes doesn't have  critique for HB yet.

I won't be rushing out to catch HB re-done anytime soon.
I think its a re-dpb/c I don't recognize any names

Weather looks to be seasonal but temperatures will be in the 34 - 38 range for Wednesday ( I hope that you appreciate that I convert C to F for you, thus it will be a high of 2 C to-morrow )
Rain is due as well or sleet or some other nasty droppy - icy thing

Monday 8 April 2019

Hi and whats your pleasure

thought I'd try being upbeat

I have noticed tho that even small things like a doormat that says ' Welcome ' does make a difference

Our doormat right now says ' home '. We had an on going influx of salt or ice melter from the front walk.
Thus we tried a coco mat to scrape our shoes pre - entry to the house. How effective ?
Not sure, but way better than before

Weather, for the Great Lakes via Brett Anderson at Accuweather suggests early April til the mid point as seasonal followed by cool to end the month.
This temperature will keep blossoms closed or less likely to freeze if weather goes south ( or north, I guess meaning cold )

Sunday 7 April 2019

#2286

yes, back to the number headline

Or the lead could have been ' climate change and human suffering '
See
went w/ the number

The sun is up for 13 h ( w/in minutes )
Thank you Mr Sun

A very overcast kinda day, still warm and hunny at 70 +.

On the telecom front, we tried remote voice mail thru the internet and success. Thus far, most features have functioned.
One niggly  thing is we are experiencing intermittent skips in the picture ( very slight pixilation ) and a sound blip.

We live in the big smoke or T.O. and have problems w/ gun violence - say 80 murders in 2018. Then you read the headlines, to wit ' Warm weather returns 24 shot in 30 hrs '. Chicago.

Real justice ?  Nairobi - suspected rhino poacher is killed by elephant and eaten by lions.
Now, according to Horace Greeley ( ? ) the real news would be ' suspected rhino poacher killed by lions and eaten by elephant '

Saturday 6 April 2019

dragged - Kickin' and

screamin'

Into the new home tech age w/ wireless TV, 1 Gb download and voice command channel surfing

M is still unhappy about losing Animal Planet but if we pay $50 a year we can add AP. That would make it 155 channels.
We just switched out Vision TV channel, NFL channel and ..... ?  And added H2, History Science more and Comedy.
And for the month we get unlimited exchanges to customize our line up

Weather warm and grayish

Oh BTW, as of now I can't even tell the internet download speed b/c its too fast for simple test programs ( I recorded 135 Mb/s but the window said that this is the limit of testing )

The saga of telecom universe at our house
An added benefit is that the TV downstairs is way better w/ a real TV box as upstairs.
We had written off the downstairs TV b/c of crappy picture and sound. BUT the satellite feed was basic and the feed upstairs was HD.
Now, both TV s are fed the same way
... and of course look the same
or the downstairs caught up to the upstairs one.
Our apologies downstairs TV for doubting you

Friday 5 April 2019

Change over Day

at our house
Big Doin s

2 hours to install the new internet, VoIP phone and TV.
The internet service runs at 1Gb download.
The phone runs off the internet
The TV receive their signal via Wi Fi

And then the fun begins - cancelling the services that we have now. The threats and nasty business tricks - we'll keep you posted

Weather, we start above 32 F and will warm but the wind is still moving the trees.

On the fitness or workout front, some changes are in process. On a BBC fitness / health program, a Dr was investigating facts and research on fat.
On the workout phase, a professor in physiology revealed a fat burning workout.
The subjects were monitored. The pattern is 2 min of fairly intense cardio followed by a 1 minute rest - repeated 7 times or approx 20 minutes.
The subjects were a trained soccer player and a student trying to exercise. Both showed a doubling of fat burning after the workout. The effect can last 24 to 36 h.

In response, I started to modify my routines :
a) on weight day, I use push - ups, lat lift and curls as intense cardio. And also do pec lifts etc. for another and sprint on the elliptical for 2 minutes as well. Some combinations of weights and sprint for the 7 cardio bursts.

b) on non wieght days, I do elliptical sprints for the 7 cardio bursts.

The results, well fat burning we'll have to see if there is any change in my weight or ???????
However, what I can monitor shows that the shorter workout ( 30 - 40 minutes vs 46 ) records the same calories burned on the watch device and I sweat way more. As well I'm more tired as well.

The upside is that I needed a change in routine for variety - I'll admit that routine is good but a blip in the workout creates an interesting variant.

To-day did the weights w/ cardio burst as in a) above
really tired but the plus side is to-morrow is an off day > I go 3 days exercise and 1 off to rest

The verdict : they came they saw they conquered.

Pros : Rogers kept us informed
           The chat line answers questions
          They are clear about pricing
Download speed is over 135 Mb/s c.f. 9.4 this               morning w/ the telephone line

Cons : we lost a channel that M likes ( thats bad for                me )
not all features are working but in their defense
I was told the work order isn't in the system

And everything is new and different

Thursday 4 April 2019

my Concierge

really, he called

Rogers the Telco giant, my new provider has a concierge to see me thru the transition from provider to provider. The call reminded me what the bill would like and the services that I signed up for.

Thus, the transition will go like exlax I'm sure

We shall see said the Zen Master

The temperature is below 32 slightly w/ a promise of warmth
Cool wind again, those Northerlies keep zipping thru here.

Thus far, Rogers, the Telco people have emailed, phoned and texted a reminder.
Thank goodness they know where I live or there'd be smoke signals or an all points bulletin via the police.

Wednesday 3 April 2019

Stoned to Death

adultery and gay - ness
Yep in Brunei those could be the penalties under Sharia law

Whoops ! 18 th Century here we come

The day starts at 40 F and natch will get warmer but rain is forecast too !

Doris Day turns 97 to-day

Sunshine for us is up to 12 and 49 min

Tuesday 2 April 2019

Snow falls

from the roof.

Our steel roof seems to hold snow longer than the neighbours. And slides off w/ echoing crashes.

Temperature on the ' rainbow ' thermiometer is 32 F to start the day. Hope it goes up and not down.
Weatherman says up ^^^ as the week goes on.

That wind is chill and the sunshine a blessing
The day got progressively  more overcast, tho'

Monday 1 April 2019

Hiding in Plain Sight

Enough w/ the cryptic intro s

Explain yourself

" When this old world starts getting me down
I go up where the air is fresh and clean "

of course, is Carole King singing ' Up on the Roof '

Everybody hides. from the world ?
maybe
from others
maybe
from oneself
for sure

Big changes coming
We are installing a chair lift - a moving seat on the stairs - for increased mobility
We are going cable vs the old satellite system.
We are dinosaurs in the city - satellite is for where you cannot get cable
Not us
Dinosaurs in the Ignite Age
Ignite is a name brand service from a big Telco
or media monopoly.
We are moving from DSL ( phone line delivery ) for internet and phone. FYI, internet speed is ( as mentioned previously 10 mb/s - service should be 15 mps but our actual physical wire - SUCKS )

Instead, our house will receive internet w/ download speed rated at 1000 mb/s, VoIP phone and TV delivered via WiFi from the internet hub.

We shall see said the Zen Master

Weather report is : clear and cold for spring.
temperature was 25 F this morning headed for the balmy 38 F regions and warmer as the week goes on.
Roads are clear of snow w/ smatterings on the shoulders.
