we carry pay as you go cell phones in the U.S.

The cell phones are manufactured by Unimax and  are not Samsung , for sure. Mostly , they don't catch fire
At times , they are clunky in operation.

In preparedness , I charged the U.S. phones.
By chance , I looked at ' all in boxes ' in e mail.
Oh , boy !  1 300 emails were stored

Apparently sync - ed means all gmail accounts and this blog go to the Unimax
An hour later , and 1 000 plus email deleted - I had a normal looking ' inbox'

Question is , how to de - sync , I guess

I left the safe confines of Scarberia ( suburban T.O. east ) and went
' Downtown '. 
In T.O. geography , this means West of Yonge St , the old divide of E / W in T.O.
I drove 1 hour to Dupont and Christie , site of Castleview - Whychwood Towers , Seniors Home. The resident , Joe is 95. An old friend of my fathers
and a good buddy when my brother and I had a cottage in Wasaga Beach.  

Step 2. I drove homeward and stopped at Yonge and Lawrence. I parked on the street which is always risky in T.O. . The signage is deceptive. I took the underground to right Downtown. I dropped off a Birthday gift to a highschool friend which means that we have been friends for 53 years ( we are the same age ).
The friend works hard at keeping up contacts and I'm not sure how much trouble that I am in that regard.

All in all , a fabulous day , for fulfilling social responsibility ( s ).

I drove home in 25 min.

In the friends office , I picked up a paperback , " How to Teach Relativity to Your Dog " , as in the space time concept.
Hoping , a ) it would make look brighter and b) that I could learn something useful

It was Giant Tiger day. Not too busy. Bananas were 7 in a bag for   $ 1.25. Raisins were $ 3.00 for 5 cups. GT marks the amount on the bag as in , 5 cups.

Bargoons galore but these were housebrand or ' Great Value '

I took in the water hoses and drained the outside taps.

A while ago , I looked at the shut -off for the back outside tap.
Crap , up in the ceiling accessed through a vent that I cut in the drywall.
I replaced that  piece of junk w/ a extension plastic pipe into the furnace room and put the shut off there , right out in the open.
All connections were snap fit or push on.
A plumber in the store said that he didn't like or trust those ' snap on ' connectors. Well , he wasn't looking at reaching up above my head w/ my shoulders wedged into a vent size opening.
If it breaks , it breaks.

Goes Wrong , so fast

Ran up to the 'bee , primarily to put the E Tec outboard to sleep.
On the way , I stopped in P'boro to get Lower Gear Case oil. I asked by phone ' did they have gaskets , gas filters and LGC  fluid for my Evinrude E Tec '. What they meant was ' we'll sell you Mercury parts which are just as good '. 
They had me , wasn't going to run all over at that point.
Well the gaskets fit. The LGC fluid turns out to be what I used last year and had good results.
That was Monday

To - day , was blow out the gutters. Recall , I ' McGyvered ' a set up for doing the gutters from the ground. That worked. Then , after , which was stupid , I cleaned off the snow brakes. This added more leafy crap to the gutter. Crikey !
Then , transferring gas from can to can , I managed to pour 1/2 cup all over , a 1/2 mile radius in the garage. What a pig !

To top it off , I listened to a radio segment coming home re: having a can do attitude. 

I'm home . hopefully , I'll live down the ignominy of the day

I went to Giant Tiger , this morning. Very quiet in the store b/c of the rain. Only those who drive felt like going out.

I bought frozen Texas Toast ( garlic and 3 cheeses ) , Folgers coffee on sale ( $1. 97 off ) , Stewarts Soda ( for .88 cents c.f. 1.10 ) and Dole cole slaw ( $1.97 v. 2.30 )

Apparently , you can outfit your whole family at Giant Tiger , M guffaws at that.

It was raining , sometimes very hard.

Fiddled w/ fishing tackle. It is never ending.

I used to be close

Segue into the story. While out fishing , end of Sept. , I took our English visitor for a run upriver. The guest noticed a fish floating w/ its back exposed , likely dead.
we finished our try at the spot and then I went looking for the fish that was floating , sort of crooked. We found it some yds , further on.
Closer inspection , revealed a musky lure about 11 in long w/ hooks the size of tablespoons. Wow ! , first one ever.
Homeward bound we stopped at one magic spot ( not this to - day ) and I saw a fish floating back side up ( ah , ha you say ) , this one was green.
You got it. another musky lure , a little bigger.
Both had 14 in steel leaders attached. Unfortunately , these are not edible or fishable - trollers use 60 # test line , me 8 #.

The SUV is 2005 , took out the vacuum and did the carpets
Used Orange car cleaner and wiped down the plastic parts
Re -sorted and threw out some items. Unfortunately , most accumulated stuff went back in.  Sad , very sad.

Bat splat happened.

Finished the Burst Work out. Burst is an off day for free weights.
Mostly its cardio w/ some calisthenics thrown in. I use a large purple ball for extra motion.
On the fitness watch ( Timex , something or other ) , I recorded a 559 Cal effort. I think this is bunk. Its probably , down in the 200 range if you consult the reference books. 
However , I use the watch for each work out , thus the Cal count is a measure of how things are going.
The watch was not expensive as c.f the ' Polar ' brand watch that could sing and dance and talk to the computer.

The weather broke gray and cloudy and hasn't changed
Incipient change on the way , bringing fall

The boat is asleep , drained but still needs replacement gear case oil

However , much easier to drain the lower gear case when the weather is warm. From experience , 36 F is not ideal oil change temperature.
I couldn't find synthetic LGC oil , tried in several places. We head to Bass Pro after lunch to - morrow

I've been having trouble adding pictures to the blog. Sort of glitchy , works and doesn't work.

Canada is # 16 in the world , health rankings. Way ahead of the U.S. at 50 out of 55. This ranking is despite 17.3 % of GDP spent on health.
Hong Kong led w/ a 83 yrs of age , life expectancy.
You don't want to live in Russia w/ a 70 yr average life expectancy.
16 th sounds just super , to us. We don't want to be Hong Kong.

This AM was mega work time
1.  tossed a shower seat from 2004 , originally bought for my father as  he recuperated from surgery. Dirty and soiled - it was time
I cut the plastic seat in three chunks to fit the garbage can

2. 3 lights in the kitchen overhead rack blew - brought in the 10 ft step ladder and switched out the bulbs which are 50 W halogen.

3. cupboard clean out. Dry goods w/ past due , best before dates got tossed. Rolled oats , barley , rice ,  graham cracker crumbs etc

Banner day for accomplishment

Homeward bound crawl and sprint the whole way , however , home in under 50 min - again for T.O. , amazing

The weather is up and down but rain was the threat for most days w/ winds brisk but the temperatures were mild for late September.
