Standing in the way , the NY Yankees. If the Jays hold on and the magic # to seal the title is about 6 right now ( BJ wins and Yank losses ) , the Bluejays can even get homefield advantage right through the play - offs by overhauling the West division KC Royals who have about a one game lead in the American League.

Now , for those of you , not Canadian or Torontonian , this is big. The last championship and play - off appearance for T.O was 1993. The T.O. Maple Leafs of the NHL  , last won the Stanley Cup in 1967. This means that 3 - 4 generations of fans haven't seen the Buds hoist the Cup.

Here in the s GWN we often get 2 - 3 days of sterling weather in SEP or OC ... but this run is slightly shy of amazing. Warm and sunny / rainless. Ideal harvest conditions. And the trend stays put for 4 - 5 days more.

On the homefront : the on line orbital sander pad was exactly as advertized. popped on and away we sanded. The door was partly stripped of loose paint and primed. To -day , we finish the door. The door in question is the side door to the garage.
Years ago , a mail slot was destined for the door and collection of mail would occur in the garage. Instead , the overhead garage door got a mail slot and a basket to collect the post. Then the door got forgotten.
By the end of to -day , it won't know what hit it.

OK , off to paint the door if it is dry. We had fog in the AM for several days. Yesterday , on the 'bee , the view was white , cutting visibility to 20 yds.

The baby laptop , the new battery story. I'm typing on the ' baby lptp ' using battery only. I reduced the power to balanced. The predicted battery life is reading 7 h 55 m. I never saw a battery reading above 3 h before for ' baby lptp ' . We shall see how the numbers look in a while - meaning close to 7 h  or not. In my research on small laptops , I don't recall seeing numbers such as 7 h  for battery life. Usually , advertised battery life is 3 - 5 h.
The experts typically predict 4 h as sort of a magic number for laptops.
BTW - despite the larger ' bum ' b/c of the computer's new battery
, the baby lptp still fits in the zipper case that I found for it.

The computers main and baby laptop
I betcha that I'm the only one who worries about back ups for the computer. This AM from 8:30 to 9:40 the main laptop was backing up the stored files.
And , I did a system repair disc , in case , I can ' boot the computer '
Plug in the disc and the main laptop will start

In 2 days , I need to do a total scan of the baby laptop and that is a 3 h job

The new battery seems to be chugging along in the baby laptop , I've got no proof that battery life is extended
I'll try soon.

Oh , the visitation allowed me to re - connect w/ some grads from the school. Great people , and willing to meet for beers or such

The ' fox Goes Free '

is the name of a pub in Pickering. Apparently , the fox also followed me home.
This AM , I saw motion on the back deck as I went to make coffee.
20 minutes later , again , this time the blur stopped and looked in.
A fox was inspecting the disturbance.
The fox has returned 3 X and once was curled up on the cushion on the deck chair. He looked comfy. I shooed him off.

I picked up the battery for the laptop from the Post Office. I opened the package - oops ! different size. I tried and , bazinga it fit ! Awkward looking at the back end but it fits. Its ass got way bigger The laptop is on charge.
On checking the numbers , both batteries old and new are 11.1 V , this is an important # as it is the basic power ' push ' #. The other #s e.g. 2200 mAh now 4400 mAh mean that potentially the higher # means longer battery life. And the 25 Wh , now 44 Wh means the same thing if the voltage is the same , and it is. So , of course , more power bigger battery pack,
BTW , this battery was the small one , the other one on offer  was a 5600 mAh
I'm guessing that I just bought extra laptop life while on batteries.
Problem , always , right ? -  the ventilation pad doesn't seem to work.
The heat build up from laptops is one of the big bugaboos of laptops. Most laptops throw off mega heat and are poor at venting this heat.
On the main laptop , a brace underneath keeps the laptop from touching the desk allowing for air circulation  to cool.
We shall see.

- this will be for 2 - 3 more days than we cool.

Prior to leaving , I found a YouTube video that proclaimed ' video poker ' is the best machine in the casino. In 4 tries at the video poker machines , I managed to break even. That doesn't sound positive but I spent an average of ten - twelve minutes at the machine which is fairly long.

Weather , bring on summer temperatures rose to the 80 + range and the sun and light winds were magic

The Way I See It

The view from here in the living room is summery. sunshine and green. The dogwoods have perked up a bit. However , no doubt there is brown to the edges of some plants. Foliage is still complete w/ no sign of bare spots. A very moderate 65F on the back deck.

I alluded to the national election and at this juncture there is pretty much a 3 way tie for the polling lead. And controversy has popped up. A candidate for the Conservative party was revealed to be a contractor who was caught on a Marketplace granny cam. In the house that he was working in ,he used a cup from the drainboard , urinated in the cup , dumped the contents in the sink , rinsed and returned the cup to the drainboard. This incident is now known as ' pea - gate '. The party dismissed his party membership.
#2 , a Conservative hopeful was revealed to have v- logged about how he imitated ' retarded ' persons as a prank. He further pretended to be disabled to complain to businesses. Gone.

Well , this is Canada and we don't quite get the same oomph ! from politics as south of the 49 th.

Our dollar rose in value to .7576 of the greenback which still makes us way second class ciitzens vis a vis finances. However , we are in luck , a Cdn dollar is still worth a dollar here in sGWN. The dollar store hasn't changed its name - even though most of what I buy there costs 1.25

Who Woudda Thunk.......

.... that the worse effect of Wall day was my sensitivity bumps exploded.  Fri  , I noticed , little bumps on my shins ; to - day  , the area is 1/2 in around and inflammed. The cream is going on 2X a day and the areas still burn.

In Canada , this is Labour Day , Bank  holiday , long week end , the day before the little ones go back to school across the country.
To - morrow is the busiest day of the year for businesses when phone lines go on over - load , mega.

As regular readers , you will know the history of the baby laptop , the adventure of memory upgrade and solid state module. Oh , and lately , I've been using ' Ready Boost ' , using a memory stick to speed up processing.  Next , they'll give me vitamins , so that I'll speed up processing , more.

This chapter shows that the defective battery icon is ' X'ed ' . On line , the questionable battery ( who knows if it will fit ? ) costs $ 140 at a store..... ordering on line though  , an assortment of sources will sell and ship the ' battery X ' for $ 10 to 60 ( most from Calif ) .
At the ' fix it ' store for computers , I mentioned the battery problem and said that I likely found some ' knock off ' batteries on line - his response was ' they all are knock offs '. Join the real world , bucko !

To continue the theme blog , there is a new Yahtzee champion on the block and maybe the lesser world. On the computer , we've utilized MahJhongg , Scrabble , PolarGolf and now , dice.
I played from 10P to 4:30 A , defeating ' ladybug , monkey , and bird. I won 4 trophies and 3 free tokens. I'm dead , as in gazillion tired. The hardest icon was monkey - one tough dude. I set a record of 530 sometime around 2 P , fireworks and a banner.
M mentioned something about ' out of control ' and addiction.
in my defense , the rules of Wild Tangent , the game source - Yahtzee will now be pay for play format.
Last night , was probably the end , I can sleep to - night.

To - day is ultra warm to ugh . My brag about a plentifully wet season , well , green is fading to yellow. The dogwoods aren't as perky...... and they're tough little suckers.

yesterday , the crew 4 of us went at the wall project. The bulging wall got torn down to 6 layers remaining and then someone said      " thats it ! " Then we started going up.
My  contribution , was an idea - glue instead of mortar , expensive but fast and flexible.
10:00 A to 6 PM.
In deference to my age , they were kind.
The youngest , neighbour's son at 12:30 , looks at and says " hey ,you're hanging in pretty good , my Dad was worried about you "
OMG , I am old.
Anywho , walls done. We're satisfied
Back is stiff and I feel old - ish
but ' I  hung in , pretty good '

I bought a pair of leather gloves , $ 8 ( 1 / 2 price ) and a waterproof neck case for cell phones
Let me explain ( justify really )
The leather gloves would be used on the marine railway. I figure that you need hand protection b/c the winch cable is rough and there are burrs on the cable. Well turns out the pair that I'm using now isn't that bad. Save them for when you will need them. Go to put them away and find................... yepper , another pair of leather gloves - same make , same size , same sale price.  something about great minds ....... !
the cell phone case. Probably , I've got 6. An arm band one and a bunch that go on your belt. This clear blue tint one , hangs on your neck , like a lanyard. The waterproof part is b/c it has 2 ziplock seals and a fold - over button clip.
and its designed to use your cell phone through the plastic walls
 - thus , you don't need to remove the cell phone from the case.
The problematic factor is the lanyard situation. I'm not sure how practical that is ?
To -day , though , I carried the phone and case in my pocket.
Many times , I've wondered what happens if I fall in.
I'm wearing a self inflating life jacket , but obviously , any pocket items get wet.
At least , w/ this plastic case , the phone stays dry
