The Toronto Bluejays of the American League , have clinched a play - off spot. Its a wildcard slot w/ the potential still of a division title and a lock on the play - offs. Standing in the way , the NY Yankees. If the Jays hold on and the magic # to seal the title is about 6 right now ( BJ wins and Yank losses ) , the Bluejays can even get homefield advantage right through the play - offs by overhauling the West division KC Royals who have about a one game lead in the American League.
Now , for those of you , not Canadian or Torontonian , this is big. The last championship and play - off appearance for T.O was 1993. The T.O. Maple Leafs of the NHL , last won the Stanley Cup in 1967. This means that 3 - 4 generations of fans haven't seen the Buds hoist the Cup.
