I've been having very little luck w/ my old standby , nominally called a soft stick bait in white , approx 6 in in size
Finally , switched it up this morning after an hour of nada. Right away , the rock bass were all over the 3 in blue worm.
Then a huge yank from the weed edge produced a feisty pound and a bit - er. So grateful ..... finally
The weather yielded rain and thunder last night , overcast in spurts
some wind , this morning. We're expecting cool temperatures for the next few days but recall the prediction is for an above normal temperature spell for September.
The wrist is still problematic , tender and slightly painful if my hand twists.

We've had some 30 murders in a city of 3 million , so far this year and authorities are facing a rise in the murder rate for the first 6 months.
However , the news cycle has highlighted problems in Chicago which is averaging 11 murders a day for the year so far.

Coming To Gether
or doom and gloom on the rise
The CBC on line website ran an article about current investing. Pointing out that the usual routine of ' safely ' investing in Gov't bonds ( guaranteed ) or savings accts was becoming problematic.
And many investors were turning to the stock market , albeit reluctantly.
Then I ran across an article online , likely the CBC , that quotes some actuaries as estimating the projected shortfall in U.S.Federal and State pensions at 6 trillion dollars.
The article was mentioning that 1 1/2 % was the benchmark return on ' safe ' investments while noting that such investments ( yielding under 1 % ) were not keeping pace w/ inflation and the cost of living - hence the projected shortfall
EEK !

like probably equal to the national debt of ?????? or a whole lot Alfa Romeo super spyders or somesuch

a ' Aha ' moment
... aha , what ?
I am going through the pain and frustration of ' sore wrist ' syndrome.
In previous bouts of 'wp' , physio lady had decided that I developed a narrow tunnel for a tendon in the wrist. As in Carpal tunnel but not Carpal tunnel.
The pain goes away , eventually. We are talking about once every three or four years for upwards of 12 or so years.
My regular physio lady is gone.
Enter new physio lady . She held my hand andwhispered discovered or guessed that I have a out of position hand bone thingy. ( a carpal bone )
I will now go through strengthening exercises and prayer
The weather is hot , hot and muggy. We get three days of this and then a cooling off. Overnight temperatures were 70 F across the S GWN.
For my sore wrist , I bought Celadrin cream as recommended in WW mag. Celadrin is esterifed beef fat. In one month , Celadrin helps relieve hand pain which is good b/c the tube will run out then

Apparently , the " Donald " has all the factors
bad is , there is no prediction about what failure is
In essence , we all are in one of the stages A or S or F
and we cycle through them during our lives. Sometimes fast , many times slowly but eventually , we get to Fail
Luckily , we usually start over on the cycle.
Interesting facts , gmail started as a dating service w/in Google ... then evolved into regular mail.
BTW , Google has tried to emulate the success of gmail but has fallen short at least 3 times
The author pointed out that part of the problem is that we make a myth about ourselves and then start to believe its true i.e we meant to do something and it succeeded. Not we got lucky or the real way the invention or thing was created.
Weather , on the 'bee , it was cool to colder , the wind blew all day.

Re - Listening
.... again ..........
For the last week or so , I've been on the 'buds hearing the novels of Donna Leon , as read by David Collaci and David Crossley.
Collaci does the Italian accent or persona , nicely.
DL started writing as an one off kinda thing. Sitting and chatting after dinner , someone mentioned that the opera in Venice would be an intriguing place for a murder... yepper that was it.
DL is up to 20 + stories in the series.
' Small town ' Venice , yes , its very provincial despite the 20 some million tourists a year , is a twisty geographical setting for the equally twisty stories,
I'm in love w/ the commisario's wife , Paola. Whats new , I know.
In the movie , ' Nobodys Fool ' , w/ Paul Newman and Bruce Willis , an exchange at the beginning goes ' Sully , still getting crushes on other men's wife at your age '
Its me , I guess.
Except , the other man's wife ( BW's ) is Melanie Griffiths , see , not my fault
DL hasn't allowed translations to Italian for her books and remains relatively free to roam Venice , incognito as it were. And she wants it that way.
My left wrist / hand ?????????? , sometimes I'm not sure where the pain comes from , has limited chores that I can do. However , somehow , I've managed to adapt or finagle my way into exercising , as per routine , even w/ free weights. Albeit , some motions are eliminated.
I thought that I had the problem figured out i.e. don't twist the hand BUT last week , while wearing the wrist brace , I pushed a pole and Yep , shooting pain up the wrist to just shy of the elbow.
The physio lady said that I'm approaching the ' chronic ' definition for this ' wrist ' pain.

Yes , Rain came
We expected a deluge as seen in the last week or so. The downpour was intense but very short ( so far ). The wind really kicked up during and after the rain.
Sun is in / out , muggy but cooler than Monday.
WW ( the mag ) has a section of cures for different ailments. Under , wrist pain solutions , is a suggestion involving B complex supplements. The pain should diminish in a month.Yep , trying this , as of lunch. I got time release B cimplex and will faithfully ( XXX ) try to follow the daily regimen.
This is the middle of August and people are commenting on how fast the summer is going.
Interestingly , an article in WW compared impatient people and procrastination. Research showed that the impatient subjects were likely to be the most likely procrastinators.
The test : Subjects were given the option of taking a smaller cheque right away or waiting 3 weeks for a cheque that was larger.
The impatient people took the cheque , right away , and 40 % waited 2 or more weeks to cash the cheque. Some 10 % waited a month , to cash in their windfall.
What does this mean ? Dunno !
The Olym - bics are in full stride and the sidebar news is pouring out.
Rio could run out of money , for the para Olympics which are following the first Olym - bics.

The didn't mention shooting which got Old Milwalky in the news , this week.
Forging iron in front of the cameras , is there sex ???

On a Gray.............
..... day , after some overnight sprinkles
I decided to soak the lawn( s ). Got the front done and then .........
going to the back yard , found that I had broken the rotating sprinkler ?????????????????? Dunno
As well , I managed to destroy the Magic Flexi-hose that is ultra light and etc . etc
The fittings suck !!!!!!!! thats where the leak was
The brown carpet will appreciate the water
The day is muggy and close , not overly hot but humid
Heavy overcast and threatening appearance
Go Forth and enjoy the moment
Feel the fresh air on your face
and the sweat , trickling down your shirt

Project Op Osm , where I decided to get fit or you can read less fat , here .
I'm still ellipticking , pretty much daily. I've altered the routine on weight days by leaving out hand weight punch ups ( hurts my wrist ).
My weight fluctuates from 170 - 172. Consciously , I can manage my ups and downs by a) cutting out snacks at night
b) selectively omitting carbs esp bread
My observations say , that Chinese food or more precisely which les mets Chinois ( Fr. ) I like / or the amount of what I like , seems to be an instant weight gainer.
Overall , though this 170 lb is pretty easy to maintain
BTW ,I'M SITTING USING A LAP TRAY AND TYPING AWAY IN THE LIVING ROOM ON THE ' TRAVELLER ' or baby laptop
more on this aspect later
I've re - read WW from yesterday and can now add. Goat cheese is better for you than cow cheese. More vitamins and calcium. And white wine has been shown to promote weight loss comparatively w/ people consuming the same calories.
Hilary is leading Trumpudo in the polls.
Its raining cats and alligators in Florida.

its soooo much faster and easier to use.

Really though , I was all set to buy a $1 300 laptop. Same weight as Traveller , larger memory and faster processor and WINDOWS 10 pre - loaded. The new unit would have been lightening quick.
however , I honestly feel uncomfortable when the machine is faster or smarter than me.
thus , Traveller suits me , just peachy fine

Well , this trip to the 'Q , I left my telephonino at home. And not on purpose.
Should have known , right away , b/c the GPS failed to Blu tooth connect to the phone ( that wasn't there ).
The next day , on the way home , we discovered 2 messages - both from people trying to catch us up on the 'bee.
figures , right ?
Not laughing , now , are we ?
Weather : will heat up to -day , and for 3 more days. The , next cool down is on the week end.
We'll hibernate

I guffaw as I see people glued to their phone. I often say to myself , ' I'm not my phone ' , meaning I'm more than a cell phone # .

a ' Plug ' for E Tec
... my outboard motor brand
Despite a sore wrist and help from M , got the last spark plug changed. No real problems except hand unscrewing one bolt
and dropping a rubber washer twice ( of course ,the washer is black and the wires and engine is black ) and fishing the sucker out w/ a coat hangar.
Ran the boat as well
Sounded a little rough idling but the shake out cruise seemed to get the kinks worked out
The electronic program on the motor self adjusts each cylinder mechanism - sort of buffers itself out - to compensate for the dummy putting in the plugs
At the end , ran pretty smooth
Not too hot to - day but high UV and it gets warm to - morrow and Wed.

Well , I'm only Human
........ after all.
The Russians aredopes dopers - OK , OK we all suspected or knew
The IOC are a bunch of hypocrites , spinning stories to save their lucrative jobs.
We got tennis , basketball , soccer etc players along w/ people who strive for excellence and hope to get a pittance to cover costs.
However , seeing some of the faces during interviews after the swimming - well , I guess it does mean something - the Olympics
The Olympic motto ' Higher , Stronger , Faster ' was not meant to apply to money but ..............................
We watched last night and yes , got interested and even excited
Weather , did cool , somewhat down to pleasant
I've hurt my wrist again. I say , again b/c it seems that I've a short memory - last time , yes , I remember
the physio lady says ' Oh , this is the same problem ? '
Me : thats why I've got 3 or 4 wrist devices at home
Duh ! a real genius here
This time , it kind of snuck up - maybe, 2 weeks or so , the wrist was slightly uncomfortable
last Tuesday while casting on the river - the pain shot up the hand to the wrist.
Apparently , my appetite was not affected
Bull shots ( beer and clamato ) seems to help
I mean drinking them !

Vad Else ?
We use to visit a Jewish Deli , little old lady there , gave you your package and said " Vad else ? "
Yesterday , the back up for the computer wouldn't work. I tried both the in house back up for W10 and the external dashboard,
Both will start and then abort the job.
Crap !
Trouble shooting here I come.
Bright and sunny out there , supposed to be cooler and dryer w/ some cloud. We really didn't get downpours through last night b/c thunderstorms were possible
The lawn actually needed cutting , yesterday
The OlymBics are on. We watched and recorded the opening rites.
No mosquitoes seemed around , bet they're waiting til nobody is looking.

A Canadian has held an Olympic championship for the last 102 yrs.
This year golf returns as an Olympic sport and a new champion will get the Gold medal. He will not get the Trophy , though.
Weather continues H/H

The Re - hash.........

The baby laptop is a miracle. Really , I was , maybe , two tics from junking it and buying a replacement. The research was done and the new laptop optioned out.
Just a royal pain to start , to wait for programs e.g. 3 minutes to load gmail and tens of seconds to switch inside the gmail program.
And every process was dodgy.
Then W 10 comes along and
the touchpad came back to function
the gmail function loads in seconds , not instant but , reasonable
Now ,to be fair , the baby laptop did get stripped down to bare minimum in re: programs.
Still , the baby laptop is almost fun to use.
To wit , babyLT sits in the living room ( and it is a ' living room ' ,where we spend 60 - 70 %of the day ) , w/ a lap table.
Right now , thats how baby LT is being used.
Weather is H/ H but doable but will worsen for the next 2 days and acolder front comes through late Sat Pm , bringing very moderate conditions for 3 days.
And despite everything that I've said re : the grass , the news anchors are still asking for rain for the crops.
On a radio garden call in show , the guest host was explaining that many garden veggies won't germinate in higher heat conditions , I think he said spinach and other leafy greens being in that category.

Persuasive , or Not
... in times where jobs are hard to come by , invent a job.
On the radio show , ' Age of Persuasion' hosted by Terry O'Reilly , the topic is advertising and related back stories.
On an episode , 3 weeks ago , the topic of new endeavours came up. A truck rolls around w/ a sign on the side " Anger Room ". For a price , you step into the truck and ' vent '. Clients pay to toss objects and slam furniture. Most popular , are tossing TVS etc.
OR / ' Relax in Here ' , on a truck. Yepper , luxury on wheels , everything , and you sit there or whatever.
See , make yourself a job.

And green grass on the front lawn. Now , most people have a green ( or non - brown , at least )lawn after our 2 rain episodes. Ours , seems a little greener - sort of ' the grass isn't greener ' on the other side of the fence.

Always the Last One ???
Seems so. I'm changing the spark plugs on the outboard. First time since it was bought 7 yrs ago. Bout time !
Bought everything that I thought that I'd need. Got started.
1 st 2 plugs getting harder but done
The third ??????? crap.
Couldn't budge a screw on the spark coil thingy ( give me a break , its a black box the plugs into the spark plug ) , it had to move to get the third spark plug. Nope.
Next door comes over to look and says ' take off the side cover '
The top screw isn't accessible w/ the tools that I've got on hand.
tried for 1/2 h and said ' Done '
The engine ran great next morning. Maybe , its running on the one spark plug that I didn't change ? Who knows
Found a small box wrench for the that screw.
Weather continues its H / H pattern.
How much browner will the grass get ?
We shall see said the Zen master

The show scares me or more precisely I'm worried that I'll catch the ' bug ' of buying junk...... cuz I'm close to doing it anyway.
I find it hard to drive by a garage sale w/out stopping. My best deal was from across the street. I bought a ' new ' daddy made small table. For $ 25. People assume that I paid $ 125.
And I did pay $ 125 for a round oak table w/ 3 leaves in 1975. I screwed up the refinishing - I used a sander to take off the goop on the table -- bad. Thus , we have a round oak table for the dining room.
M beat the pants off of me - the round oak coffee table that we use - well , she got for free.
But I'm not into rust - TG
The weather : Yesterday was cool and grayish. To -day , we start back in w/ the heat and rising humidity. Full sun.
And the naked skydiver from CA made the front page, below the crease , full story.
