Cool in the Morning

 brisk

air is clear after rain last night

Up at 6 again, lay there, couldn't really sleep. Coffee sounded good.

Thus, after news this morning, I'm down to 2 uncles < Dad's side >. Uncle George passed last night.

Uncle George was judged a success by most. He started out as a chicken sexer < baby chicks > and rose in the company,  Lilydale. He ended up organizing corporate events and made many contacts. An avid golfer his whole life.                                                                             In fact, in 1997, he organized the biggest Family re - union in Edmonton, Alberta when I asked and promised to fund the event. The turn out was 80 strong.

I sat next my aunt from Vancouver. Her sons were scattered over Canada and Vermont < U.S. >. Two were in Calgary, Alberta < 2 hr away > and 2 hr north of Vancouver. My uncle wasn't sure if the venture would be attended < his acceptance letter for the event had this notation - hope this goes off otherwise it will be embarassing > and didn't push the issue w/ his sons.                   My aunt turned to me at dinner and said ' I think we made a huge mistake - this is phenomenal '.

The remaining uncles are 101 and 90 yrs old.

The long range from Brett Anderson at Accuweather for the next 3 weeks ' is seasonal '. Of course, the real trick is to determine < here in S Ont > what does ' seasonal ' mean

Alrighty. The prediction is weather up and down < say 50 to 70 F > w/ rain frequent and often torrential. Cold nights, foggy mornings. Betcha, I'm bang on

To me, it means that my boat gets winterized the week following Thanksgiving < S Ont. date >. Recall, cold oil doesn't like to flow.

Manage Your Woodpile 🔥 Everything You Need To Keep Your Fire Burning

 we have gas for fuel.

My new BBQ is due today from Wayfair. I watched a video on YouTube ' Putting together your CharBroil Grill '. The video was 14 minutes. The guy took 2 hours to assemble the BBQ. Fortunately, his aim was to save others time in assembling. We shall see said the Zen Master.

We have fall today. Poke my head out for the paper and said ' Fall ! ' just like that not loud.

Soothing Solutions to Feel Good, Smell Good & Look Good 😄

aha, nail fungus soak. plus a deodorant rock

As well, in the last few months, I've noticed more ads for Chromebooks that tout the battery life < approx a day >. My experience says that my Dell Chroembook has 40 - 50 % more battery time than the Acer e Machine from before.                                                         But, but. The Chromebook relies on the internet connection to fully function. And some devices still want Windows to function e.g. cameras etc.                      However, I can't imagine using the Chromebook for anything but surfing the internet or emails < we are not running a business from the Chromebook >

Another day of warm, before the hammer drops.

Simple Solutions for the Dinner Table 🍝

cook a juicy chicken, slice bread easily or store food

On hacking or being hacked. I got reponses that varied from ' that old news, the video has been going around for a while ' or ' the image is a screenshot and not a link '

I've decided to not post publicly and asked friends to report any posts that come from me.

We are enjoying warm, unseasonally warm temperatures

Ridiculous is spelt ' password '. Alright, backround. You houls secure your router such that an outsider can't access or ' hack ' your house WiFi. i looked up ' interference on your phone ' and the suggestion was to access your router's basic settings. The process is to type in ' Admin ' and your password < that you changed > or default which is ' password '. Thus, I type in user name < email > and the password. Nope ! Tried 6 different combinations. Nope !                                                          You did change the password ? Didn't you ? Apparently, no b/c the password was ' password '.  Really ! You are kidding ! No.

Anyway, couldn't figure what to do, once I was in the router system

Apparently Hacked ?

2 people received a Facebook post form me w/ a video

I don't think that I've sent a video lately.

Yick !

A weather warning < sort of >, enjoy the warm b/c here in S ON, a cooler trend is coming. The average temperature will drop 10 degrees in a week. This weekend 25 and next 16 C or 77 becomes 60 F

And I'm planning out the winterizing process for the outboard and emptying the bassboat. Last year, for the second time, I enlisted help. And was criticized for over hyping the winterizing and emptying process. To be fair, we were talking about 3 people not one doing the work. Thats a big difference. As in 1/3 less trips up the steps.    Plus these guys are 15 and 20 years younger than me.

They summarized by saying that we could fish longer and still do the job. What was I thinking ?

Secondly, the weather was short sleeve temperatures. One year, the engine lower gear case oil was so thick, I opened the drain and went for a coffee. I came back 15 minutes later then waited another 20 for the draining to finish. Last year, the lower gear case drained in 10 minutes.

Yes, it might be warm this year as well. However, I'm not waiting for cold temperatures. The week following Thanksgiving Day - I'll lift the boat for winter. Pre-freeze ??????????  Pleeze !

the Toronto Star : Headline Sept 24

' This is Not a Time for Austerity ' which highlights the ' throne speech ' that initiates a session of parliament for the fall.

I'll read the story later - maybe. M might get there first. It is not a priority for me.

I don't need spin on spin from a reporter

An excerpt from ' theweathernetwork ' - the fall preview included :

We expect that late September, October and November will feature extended periods of mild fall weather and a delay in the arrival of consistent winter weather across most of the country. This is in stark contrast to last fall, which included a few historic winter-like storms and extended periods of mid-winter cold.

Sounds as though bursts of mild conditions will continue.

Alrighty, personal news. I made foccacia yesterday < from basics >. A news article described focaccia as the chef's blank canvas. Now, to be fair, M stood at my elbow and read the instructions < at least 6 times > as I figured out how to do what she said.

The recipe used yeast for leavening and it was a non - routine step for me. However, the foccacia featured grape tomatoes, sausage, onion and olives < onion and olives - only on my side > plus three cheeses.

And you're asking ' what's the difference ' sounds like pizza. Actually, must be really close.

No matter, taste was terrific, everybody loved it.

SUCCESS ! and we will do this again. Thats maybe the third time that I've let dough rise for 1 h and then another 1/2 h.

A house story : barbecue woes and triumph. Five days ago while bbq'ing. I looked down and saw flame through the control panel < where the control knobs are >. And the panel had started to melt. I shut off the gas and discovered flame had developed where the gas transits the supply line and enters the bbq. Oops ! Yeah, not nice. I started to take apart the bbq to repair.

M said ' forget it ' buy a new bbq. Well, coming home on Tues night, I saw a bbq on the curb w/ a sign that said ' it works '. I hauled it home and got it started. The bottom was saggy and needed reinforcement < lots of reinforcement >. M took one look and said ' no way '. I put two bbq s on our curb. I kept yelling to the walls ' take our bbq s '

AND by 4 o'clock - bingo - both had been taken. now we only have a charcoal bbq - smoker. But it felt like a victory when bbq s got taken. We must live a simple, simple life
