Why choose Bath , Somerset , UK , for a vacation ?
The town is Georgian , architecturally. New buildings try and conform to the style of surrounding buildings. Of course , in this country called England , much is old and references to the 1700s is not un common and having once been a Roman outpost and trade centre , England can seem very old.
Walking in the town , on stone streets , viewing buildings made of local stone , the past calls. The past calls from doorways and windows interspersed w/ modern franchise names.
The old mixes w/ the new.
The weather : cool and rainy or damp - here you get no choice
The sun breaks through and you feel glad
We can say that we've been to Wales. We drove over the Severn Bridge that spans the Avon Estuary. We stopped for coffee and the loo in Tesco s and drove back across the bridge to England and Weston Super Mare , by the sea. Our lunch was a Sunday carvery meal by the sea.
Walked about a bit and headed for Bath the long way , winding through the Somerset country side.
We are home.
