Check those 'AA' s

In the news , of course, Boeing is having battery problems on the new big plane. I've checked my double A s in the camera but they seem to be fine. What's so hard about popping open the battery case and checking the little suckers ?
Doesn't it seem like just when you get it right everything changes on you ?
Back in 1974, I went out of my way to find and buy Nike  ' waffle ' trainers ( running shoes ) . At the time, co-workers thought that I was too gullible - I mean I drove 6 miles and paid $22 for a pair. 22 dollars was a fortune for shoes,  now -  I know , times change.
Best shoes that I ever bought. The waffles were light years ahead of the pack. This went on for 2 years , and yes they changed the design. I bought two extra pairs at a closing sale but eventually ended up changing to the new ones.
Not just to the colour blue but the sole. It was OK,  the old ones were better. And they've never been the same since, new improved etc. but never as good.
To wit. We 'discovered ' a hideaway bar called the ' HideAway Lounge '. We'd sit at the bar, schmooze w/ the bartender - esses and the patrons.  The ' hideaway ' had been there for 15 years but we discovered it three years ago. This year, it got closed . We found a substitute, the " Toasted Monkey " - good food and drinks almost as cheap - but it isn't  'our discovery' .
The old makes way for the new - and we're to the point where that means we need to make way for the new - boo hoo .

the weather is warmish but will take a downturn soon. Oh well, c'est la guerre.

Found a recipe for biscotti.  Biscotti are crunchy ( 2x baked ) coffee cookies. Many flavours and spices, some chocolate coated.
Where is this recipe ? , on the back of Post ' Great Grains ' cereal. This cereal is not cheap and you need 2 cups of cereal. A ploy to use up the cereal , me thinks.
I said many flavours of biscotti , the cereal is ' banana nut crunch ' flavour, and the nuts are walnuts. This version would be a really new biscotti for me. I'm trying to imagine the texture of the biscotti using cereal. I'm baking muffins w/  ' All Bran ' cereal and the muffins are not bad. The texture of the muffins is a little fibry but somehow I'm still getting them down.
Of course, I'll have to try. Its like a dare.

I'm closing in on #400. What does this mean ??
Haven't a clue. After all this isn't baseball and 400 hits. this is blogging - 400
Lets see - consistency ??????????????                                                 " the last refuge of the unimaginative  "   O. Wilde
- therapy ?
- creativity ?
- pointing out the absurdity of life , " Bizarre Florida "
To quote the ' Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy ' -   "  reality often gets it wrong "
I do my research in the newspaper maybe this fact represents a valued use of the daily newspaper, it sure isn't the truth that makes it valuable - there is so little of it

no OTPP

We opted for a veal cutlet sandwich and pasta fizoli or some such.
However, this veal cutlet or veal Parmigiano sandwich is not ordinary.
At home, the bun is a kaiser or just a bun. Here at Buona, the bun is homemade and probably   a ciabatta    ( sort of flatish w/ flour or cornmeal sprinkles ).
About the best veal cutlet / parmigiano that I've had since here last year. great deal.

Weather is warm and sultry - no prob, babe.

As We Approach the QuadraCentennial

I assume that I just announced the upcoming 400 th blog and not a new species of fungus.

You can now visit the Lego Hotel. Where ? But there is a Legoland in Orlando.

A study proclaimed that if you quit smoking before 40 that you can have the same life expectancy as a non-smoker. this seems not fair.
You get to sin and still make it. Sort of like the Catholics and their absolution ( final unction ).

So, have you tried the OTPP - we'll have our chance this afternoon at the pizzeria unless I opt for the veal cutlet route.

Things I learned. I love corn syrup and I grew up on Beehive brand from the St. Lawrence Starch Co. we recently, bought corn syrup for our pancakes but Karo brand. Right on the label it says no ' high fructose corn syrup '.
What is this stuff they have in the news lately, if its not corn syrup - my corn syrup. Thank goodness that I grew up on the right one.
I still have toasted bread w/ butter and corn syrup. Like being ten again - except my mother isn't cutting off a corner of my bread just to taste it - yah, mom it tastes just the same as yesterday.

One Ring - One Topping

No fair, I know. You thought this was a Hobbit or LotR reference. Nope

The topic is advocacy for the one topping pepperoni  pizza. The OTPP is often a promo . Its the cheapest option and the pizza in the advertisements. Its the image they use to get you in the pizza mood. The little brother to the ' supreme ' or deluxe combo.

Personally, I'm beginning to think the deluxe is a scam. You opt for sausage. Your image is a pepperoni , OTP. Red circles, rich and inviting. Instead you three topping, mushyroom , green pepper and sausage pizza has scatterings of veg and crumbled sausage meat. The cost of each item is fixed no matter the number of choices but how much could they possibly put on w/ all the other toppings taking up space. The pizza guy must salivate when you choose the deluxe. A dribble of this, a dribble of that and $ 22 from $11.

Furthermore, the concept is pizza not salad. Perhaps, it is an overall appeal to greed or an attempt to please everyone a little.
There is no ' one size fits all ' here as in T-shirts. In fact, the proper nomenclature in that case, is ' one size fits none '.
To wit, if you didn't want pepperoni in the first place why would throwing mushyrooms on top change anything or green pepper or anchovies.

BTW - I mentioned the concept of a trillion. Apparently, trillions is how you estimate the number of anchovies that school off the W coast of S. America in non El Nino years. If I had a dollar for every anchovy that swam in the Pacific, Well - humph.

Thus, for all reasons choose the OTPP.

M ordered a dinner entree that a ' wedge ' salad as an accompaniment . You guessed it - they threw a quartered lettuce wedge on the plate. I got to eat the wedge - loved it. straight forward , no nonsense, lettuce on the plate.

Bizarro - rama

From the on-line Bizarre

Man chews off girlfriend's thumb while fighting in the truck driving to work and spits it out on the floor. The thumb couldn't be re-attached.  The boyfriend was charged w / inappropriate use of teeth .

The trend toward Sugar Daddy / Mommy support for college students is on the rise. Young students are seeking sponsors to foot the bill for their education, in exchange for services.

in Fla, Gov Rick Scott is getting support from the Satanist Society.  The SS is planning a rally in favour of the Governor. Well, support in any form is a politician's food.

We watched the ' Hunger Games ' on DVD. Interesting idea and fairly well done. The violence was necessary based on the book but the handling of the topic was diplomatic. We paid $1 for the rental at the RedBox. Value very good.
While at the Redbox, we helped another guy choose his movie - sort of team choosing.

weather has settled down and warm and sun returned
