the Party's Over

for JHU, on Sunday night

After a tumultuous 2 weeks, the boys in Columbia blue paid the price for a poor pattern of play.
Yes, they were down early, mounted a four goal run then got snuffed out by Notre Dame.
It was too much to ask to keep coming back from 5 goals down and winning.
To evaluate the season, you need watch the roller coaster rankings of JHU. Ranked 10 - 12 during the pre - season hooforay, falling out of the standings. Rising through the later part of April, and gaining a # 11- 12 ranking pre - tournament.

The weather is damp and overcast. But not raining.
Sun is out and skies are clearing here.

Did a check at Brett Anderson for the long range. The verdict is a high pressure blocking pattern is trapping cooler air over the lower North American region.
Thus, May will be cooler than usual. Warm up is predicted for May 27 on. This forecast comes from Accuweather.

I am watching mega TV b/c the downstairs TV got improved w/ its own TV box from the Telco and good feed from the modem upstairs. And we got Crave & HBO thrown in as a promo.

Lately, I've been thinking about Quantum Theory and what could make a good explanation or starting point for telling someone about the importance of quantum.
W/out going mathematics bizarre.
As in why would anyone care or how to explain w/ references that mean something to a non scientist or interested person.
My answer was quantum entanglement. The theory that says particles that share quantum entanglement could move relative to one another [ even at light years distance, where in fact the distance would be less important than the fact that the particles were entangled ].
The movie to-day was ' Clara '. An astrophysicist wild catting for a discovery breaks normal protocol and is cut loose by institutions that have equipment, as in big equipment.
As an independent researcher he finds many roadblocks and calls on friends and the ex-wife. The assistant that he hires is a non scientist and non graduate. Talented as an artist and  capable of speaking several languages she inspires and collaborates w/ him. She is Clara.

Why is this related to quantum entanglement. The       ' planet ' that he finds, turns out to be a space station.
At 200 light years, communication would be time consuming. The ' new life ' running the space station is eventually able to communicate w/ Earth by manipulating a particle nearer Earth that is quantum entangled w/ a particle that they control ' Somewhere out There ' to quote Fiver.
The start is Morse code in particle motion ( spin ). The message is the astronomer's name.
What follows is ' North Country Girl ' sung by Bob Dylan and the astronomer's favourite song.
Fox Mulder territory. Spooky.

Reviews were mixed stating that the movie was mixed - or mixed up. Too much science mumbo jumbo and too much mushy sentimentality inappropriately or randomly dumped on screen.
I liked it a lot.
