On tap for today is get some food in because this is New Year's Eve. We're thinking about Italian so we're in  veal cutlet sandwich territory. Maybe lasagna or something we'll just see. But we're going to bring food in.

 Well there's one for you now, I go to Calabria bakery they've had a fire, so guess what. They can only do phone orders and I didn't know and I'm sitting there in the parking lot so no way. So decide that on the way home I'm going to pass Sammy's this is a family restaurant they do almost everything

But Sammy's is closing at 3:00 today, so no lasagna or big tray items. So we ended up with veal parmesan with spaghetti and chicken sticks with french fries. Both come with salads. Actually very good salads 

This is a follow-up to a follow-up to a follow-up. What is it all about? Well I'm lying in bed using a heating pad to keep my little toesies warm. Then I decide look, they always say heat could help injuries or sores or whatever you got, muscle strain. I put the heating pad on my hip.

Normally,  every morning I get up and I am aching for about 20 minutes or 10 minutes. Give or take a little bit either way.

 And this morning I put the heating pad on my hip. Let it stay for 40 minutes and I get up just about pain-free seriously. Pain-free ! freaking idiot I am for not trying this sooner. Oh well, at least I tried it so here we have it. I have osteoarthritis of the hip. Probably, some  sort of back involvement there as well

BUT ...... heat will make it better and I don't need to take pills. I just need to put heat on

However the front eavestrough over flowed. This AM went out and the gutters were clear. A touch of leaf debris BUT nothing really 

Next I detached the lower pipes and  nada. Thus, we imagine just too much water at one time.

I guesstimate that at some point the mass of water blew out a leaf plug and Bob s Your Uncle This conjecture is totally unsupported by evidence
grateful that the situation resolved. I went out there w / a drill and spare screws, a pump and cutters

today. snow flurries. Swirling a lot. Predicted to be freezing plus a few degrees. Felt rather uncomfortable

Air fryer. On Saturday, bought Octberfest from the Butcher [ 3 for $ 15 ] Checked a found a video ' air fry sausages '. 400 F for 10 - 15 minutes. And 15 minutes it was. 
the claim. cooked perfectly, dry and browned. All the grease trapped below the grill in the container.
The verdict. yes. yes. yes.  You do poke the sausages to release the fat / grease. There is flipping needed at the halfway point.

' boro conditions okay, so quite a blowing mess that happened yesterday w / swirling snow, sideways snow and pretty much a blizzard whiteout type condition but actually by about 8:00 p.m. everything had mostly settled down. Overnight, nothing, pretty normal but snow plows came out starting about 8:00 last night and our landscape company came and cleaned out our driveway [ ??? AM ]
 So you wake up in the morning and everything's good. Only problem was Saturday was garbage day meaning the recycling bin and our green bin had to go out but the driveway was snowed in. So at 6:00 A on Saturday morning I had to jump out of bed and I had to put out the garbage cans. Little bit of a hassle but what the heck everybody did their job. I lost a bit of sleep but other than that good.

For today s emergency run [ meat ], I got into the Butchers at 9 AM or so and bought lean mince beef and 3 Oktoberfest sausage.

Yes, We had smash burgers for dins. Verdict .... terrific or excellente

and using it this year, I noticed the power light was out. on searching, it was the ground fault that had tripped at the actual outlet.
however, the inside of the adaptor was browned a bit [ oops ! there ]. cannot be good

this newest iteration of the lighted adaptor is ' indoor / outdoor '

around the house. someone noticed that the downstairs toilet ran on [ did not stop ]. first step is to jiggle the float assembly. nope.
thus, this morning as per YouTube, I turned the adjustment arm counter clockwise [ three times ] and SuCCess. However, I did take note that the float seems to slip on its central post. so, there could be a more permanent problem of sticking  [cleaning needed ? or replacement ]

The preparation begins. First of all it was cooking the celery, the sausage and the onion. This is the base for the stuffing, next Will come the bread. This is the bulk of the stuffing so this is my mother's recipe handed down to my wife who has taken it over as her own and although they call it the Karatsu stuffing it's not -  it's Margaret stuffing 

As well, for an encore performance I tried air fryer onion rings. Again. This is in place of deep frying. Of course I did purchase a sprayer that is an oil sprayer that would put a light coating of oil onto the food so that you're not soaking the oil into the food 

I cut the onion rings a little bit thicker. Didn't use panko the way they suggested but I did use a double dredge of flour. Alrighty, everything worked out. However The taste was just slightly disappointing. Nothing wrong, just a little disappointing

A slow morning, as in ' is there ever a fast one ? ' However, turkey [ for Friday roasting ] is out of the freezer.
AND took a turkey carcass [ or 2 ] from the freezer to a pot, w / the end hope of a slow simmered stock. Bearing in mind that another turkey carcass will be available in 4 days.

computer issues. For about 9 months, a window pops up at random ' photos keep stopping ' in reference to the Google Photo App [ ? ] After several tries at remediation, in which the Photo App became non responsive I called A .. to make sure that I understood the ramifications of certain actions.

Advice was before ' power wash ' or factory reset, backup data not in the cloud.
Thus last night, I cleared the cache and storage in the Photo App. Really, not much changed, as in, photos were not available.
ACTION.delete the App. Restart [ clears memory for programs ]. Go back in and re - install Google Photo App. A whole lot of waiting. Too long. The magic cure. Restart and let the innards do their thing.
Try to open Photo App. Slowly, mightily slowly, the photo window began to fill.
In essence, the photos were stored in the cloud or on the Chromebook and not in the App

the stock pot saga. doing quite necley thank you. for lunch, I scooped out some stock dosed the liquid w / soya and Maggi [ for umami flavouring ], picked out some veg added cooked corn. Boiled some vermicelli, on the grounds, that rice noodle is better than flour.
Result, quite tasty [ even better felt healthy ]

along the way. managed to drink a Guinness. Sunday, cooking, not driving, why not

for the evening, I ventured out to Scarborough Town Centre [ 2 x in a week ], for the regular [ now ] Leacock alum meet up. Wowsers, 3 former teacher s and four students. Marvy time

I found sweet potato fries and chicken bites [ couldn't find the sushi place ] so, as the only negative, a fine session

however, I get to be a spectator [ TG ] w / coffee in hand 

This is a follow-up. I purchased an air fryer about 2 weeks ago. So far we've tried breaded chicken instead of deep fried. You know we did the air fry thing, hopefully less oil. I think I crowded the chicken a little bit because wasn't quite as crisp as you may have hoped 

They show you in the videos anyways. I've tried some potatoes and things like already cooked breaded shrimp and they've turned out not bad. 

Today though it was onion rings, less calories, less oil than deep frying. I tried to  use my best instincts 

I might have cut the onion rings a little bit too thin and also it appears I cook them a little bit too long. However, there is a bit of trial and error in all this.

 things I learned were it's okay to cut them as thin as I did. But you got to watch because I put it in for 14 minutes at about 375 which I thought was reasonable but they were really darkly done. Some of them were like a little bit too Brownie crisp but it's a learning lesson

Tasted not bad. Had it on top of rice so it kind of killed  the burnt flavor a bit but I learned and will try again. Next lesson, use a dipping sauce b / c a little mayo and Catalina dressing made a huge difference. On the vids, common practice is ketchup dipping [ not for me ]

Today is muffin day. Raisin bran muffins. The recipe comes off the bag for Rogers Whole Bran, slightly modified by moi. To wit, the oil is canola and the flour is whole wheat [ this might make the muffins denser vs white flour, good or bad ? ]. Splenda brown sugar vs regular brown sugar, well. I insist o real vanilla extract vs the artificial kind [ alcohol and esters and brown dye ]

and this went on for 6 weeks. Now, I find a page that is titled ' Two Sentence Blogging - evolves to paragraphs.  The history as I recall, starts w / ' Two Sentence Blogging ' and that morphed into ' Two Sentence Blogging - evolves to Paragraphs '. As at now the title is ' Sending to the Ether '

And tonight the air fryer attempt, good results. Potatoes quartered and boiled for 6 minutes. Rolled in oil. Then into the air fryer for 20 min at 390 F. Browned nicely and soft inside

Clean up easy.

I likely travelled just under 20 miles, from Scarborough at Bellamy Rd to Runnymede in the west

Mode was driving to Scarborough Town Centre mall to park. boarding the Express Bus from Scarborough Centre station to Kennedy Stn subway stop and out to Runnymede

Little glitches. I planned the trip and allowed 10 minutes at each transfer for delays.
Thus, when you find that there is an ' express ' bus then you will be early. However, the subway was slow for the first 4 stops [ track work ]. 
All in all, I reached Runnymede about 20 minutes too early. So, I stopped at a CIBC branch and bought change and five dollar bills [ never have enough ! ]

Restaurant was 1 block away. I was third to arrive and the rest as they say was EZ peasy

Driving would have been one hour at least, then try and park.
the transit trip was 1 .45 H including the drive to Town Centre

Well. I figured make it a good day all around and stopped for takeout at Skyland, Chinese hot table. Sushi and the # 2 combo came home.

 We're having people in for a little turkey dinner or a turkey dinner, not little. I went and picked up the food. It's nicely done. We're going to have appetizers. Sushi and a vegetable tray for dinner. We're having the turkey stuffing, mash, cranberry, and gravy. 

I'm also cooking rice and there's going to be fried shrimp. These are the ones that come already cooked. You just have to warm them up and. you know make them brown
 and should be a good little gathering. You know maybe eight nine people and two kids. So we're looking forward to a very good evening.
 but it is cold. Let me tell you

Interesting factoid. On Friday, the annual football - KFC extravaganza was 6 people and 4 graduated from Bloor Collegiate

Actually, I may have got that weather forecast a little bit wrong. Not just little flurries but a dump in some areas north and east of the city proper. I don't know about us in Scarborough. We're sort of on the edge. We're called GTA but I don't know if the weather really cares about that. We do get a little bit more snow than in the city proper. First though we did shopping, it's our semi-monthly trip to Metro the grocery store and we spend our habitual $250,  $260 this time it hit $275.

 then headed out to Scarborough Town center and specifically the food court where Chipotle has a stall and we met up as two students and two teachers. It was a very pleasant evening.

I had a Tim Horton s meet and greet for this AM. Former teacher friend and the Meetup went very well,  old friends gathering. It was very, very pleasant.
 so this afternoon we had to look at the possibility that we could have ninja dual air fryer deep fried chicken without deep frying.
 Okay. So the secret to this is a buttermilk marinade for about 4 hours or overnight then a dredging in seasoned flour and you're even allowed to make it a sort of crumbly. That's the word crummby coding because that gives the little bumps more like deep fried.

 I did all these things, I'm set to go and according to the the YouTube video I was to set the temperature of the ninja for $400° F and 20 minutes,
 except there is a warning in the instructions for ninja that says " if you use both baskets at once please allow extra time " so I didn't need.
 We needed a little bit more time and also unfortunately I crowded the chicken pieces so a little slower to brown, cook etc.
And it ended up more like 30 minutes instead of 20 but the product was reasonable. Good taste. Maybe could use a little more browning.

I have stated that I always have kept diaries [ tending to be short lived, and non momentous ]. However, ' two sents worth ' now called ' sending to the ether ' is the longest lived attempt.
so, I like to write, it seems. or type

of course, this likely means that I actually enjoy, blathering on, apropos of nada

So today Amazon dropped off on time. Of course, a bait bucket aerator and if you've been following along, you know that this is going to create bubbles in the humidifier and instead of micro blasting particles of water and everything into the air, it's just going to be natural evaporation of water. I hope that the bubbling increases the amount of humidity by releasing a little more water 

as well. I decided this morning that we need a ninja dual basket 10 quart air fryer. I've seen a lot of examples of cooking using such a device. It seemed to be less caloric because you use less oil.

 It seems to be faster and I thought that might mean that food would not dry out as much and it seems as though you have a little bit more control over the conditions under which the food is cooking.

One drawback to using an air fryer is size. These are big devices but the rationale is they're meant to take the place of a big appliance such as a oven or a toaster oven. Or you know some kind of broiling apparatus which are rather big. But I think that for us two people size really isn't a problem in terms of the cooking basket. So hopefully this will work

All right that was this morning. This is now 6:00 p.m. at night. Just waiting for dinner. 

the day blossomed it was sunny warmish. It was actually a freakingly good day for fall. Just thought I'd let you know.

 Oh and apparently we're burning the Amazon midnight oil. We've got packages coming day after day after day. The last one might be the winner. I ordered a bait bucket aerator with rechargeable batteries

Okay, why an aerator. well last year and  the year before we had humidifiers they were the kind that vaporize or I guess the word micro - vibrate the water and stuff into the air but it leaves a white residue on all the furniture. I don't think this stuff is healthy for you

so in lieu of this I'm going to use the containers, the humidifier containers but I'm going to put an aerator into the water and it's going to create bubbles. And of course this is going to mean more evaporation so it would just be like humidifier and we aren't going to get poisoned by the white powdery stuff that comes out

Rechargeable batteries and hangs on the bucket 

And if this fails then we have a way of keeping bait alive

Plus everything but the opening sentences were dictated and edited

The name is the dollar store or Dollarama. not so, my friend. To wit, I took the plunge and replaced the Garmin GPS. I'm pretty sure that it dates back to 1999. BUT promised life time map updates. And that happened.
Ah. There is no backup storage and the download take an hour. The 12 V charging cable frayed and was close to useless. I purchased a ' Garmin ' like power cord. Did the job.
This year, I tried to turn on ' traffic assist '. Oh, I discovered the FM antenna was the Garmin power cable. Uh oh !
And w / age for my eyes, the screen was much too small. I suppose there might be enlarge functions on the Garmin. Time to change.

The knock off Yi brand, was 1 / 2 the price. The big change and I mean bi,  was a 9 inch screen. And it suits nicely.
The mounting instructions incl. ' choose a place on the windshield not blocking your view '
Excuse me - at 9 inches the GPS is the view if placed under the mirror.

Dollarama. In electronics, I found a non slip [ low slip ] pad for an I phone. There is a notch on either side to accept the edge of a cellphone. Well, guess what, it also takes the bottom edge of the GPS. I still use the windshield mounting bracket and suction cup but as a balance behind the GPS.
The YGPS sits on the dash, not sliding and seems stable. A tad higher than the Garmin b / c you see the Garmin was on a bean bag support base. Maybe an inch difference

Observations. The screen is beuti ! The woman s voice not so. I can see the streets clearly.

Not fine,  The YGPS sends you where it wants. To get to Port Union and # 401, taking the # 401 makes sense. The Yi - GPS, wanted me to drive thru the city. Nope. Now, it did ' re - calculate ' and I got there. But you need to check your route. 
To be fair, I haven't read all the instructions for ' customization ' 
So ......

Turn down the voice [  a lot ]. Read the broken English blurp.

OK. As well, the Dollarama had a ' mouse pad w / wrist bump '. There was a groove between the pad and wrist bump, aha ! ' would it fit the bottom edge of the YGPS. Obviously,  a non starter b /c I got the cellphone pad to work. However, I'm trying the mouse pad and the worst bump does work. There is a sharpness to the desk edge and the ' bump ' covers that edge, thank you.
Oh, both items were $ 1.75.

They also deleefed the whole front and back and like like for me it'd be like 4 hours 4 and 1/2 hours work. But for them you know they are here 45 minutes. Yeah give or take but there's three of them with really good leaf blowers. So I mean that's you know that's a bonus for us. Anyways, I wanted to talk about the thought that I think the old philosophical idea was a life unexamined isn't worth living and today I had an interesting morning. I went on the computer and I went to YouTube and the one channel that I saw was on how the Japanese live life simply and better and it was very interesting because they said eating rice is much easier on your digestive system and it helps you relax or it helps your whole body. You know a tune itself. I thought that was very interesting also, and I've heard this before eating pickled items can aid your digestion because the pickling process releases vitamins that you wouldn't normally get rather interesting, huh?

a quiet day. stayed in and recuperated from the adventure out. However, banking got looked at. Did some wash.
Plus, I have decorative lighting that trims the sidelight windows at the front doorway. Its been six or seven years, that I've tried for accents at the entranceway. For approx, three to four months the LED tube lites have been dim. [ right side only ]
So, fiddling seems to indicate the straightening the feed wires that are coming out of the light tubing can make the tube lites re - power up.
Aha. over time a kink has developed that impedes conductance. Yesterday was the day. I fiddled w / the wire. Nope.
Thus, testing was required. I took down the tube lites from the sidelight window [ right side only ]. After some trial and error. Yepper. I had tube lites as bright as the left side. I figured that if I re - positioned the tube and wire at the junction point as I replaced the tube lites, maybe the realignment would stay as needed.

It worked. Success. Jerry - rigging for sure, but success.

Today, the ninth, we will get snow flurries / rain / sleet - basically, precipitation thru the day, varying types w / temperatures. Hello - winter

And the snow is sticking to the road. started accumulating after noon

I can see the wind whipping up leaves and debris

follow up. approx. three years ago. I began a re - model of the ' computer room '. I re - tell this attempt for background. The room is south facing and views the street. not a great angle, but the angle shows the southern arm of our street [ a crescent ].
I see cars moving to and from onto the street. plus, the ' autumn Blaze ' maple is left centre in the frame
At the time, the computer set up was a small laptop and monitor. AND a desk approx 4 ft by 2 1 / 2 ft. plus a slightly smaller computer type desk There is a pull out couch, which converted filled the room width and blocked passage

I began to minimize the ' desk ' [ particle board mostly ] using saw and determination w / some small success. I removed one desk [ smaller ] and made that desk into a shelf.
the whole affair was haphazard and rather disappointing.
THEN. across the street, on the curb was a pile of metal tube and such - a corner desk ! I hauled the sucker home. The ' desk ' is  three by two or so. The frame stands 4 feet tall and has  3 levels. The top two shelves are recessed by a foot and a bit. I added a top shelf by taking the foot rest level and mounting it as a shelf

Convenient, w/ a great view. And yes the couch pull out can be used as intended. not a optimal layout but serviceable.

Further. we made reservations for a 3 day side trip to PEC. And , potentially, our favourite INN.

Going back. Saturday, I was in doubt about how much could be done re : getting boat to dry land. However, Saturday was definitely and day of great accomplishment [ oh ! not me but them ]

Sunday, turned out mostly me working, slowly. I managed to change the Lower Gear Case oil.
Next, I cleared the remaining bins and took them up to fishing room storage.
Lastly, I loosely tarped the boat. The marine deck carpet was still soaked from the Friday ' Saturday morning rains. Trick was to cover the bassboat to prevent accumulation of more wet. And yet allow air to circulate to further dry the interior if possible 
Oh. honourable mentio to J & W for shopping in town [ oil and mothball, thank you ]

I managed quite well.

Now. Despite the emotional relief, I found it hard to relax and slept 6 - 7 hrs w/ some bouts of restlessness. I don't think that you can turn off worry instantly

Twice w / loaded the boat but the second go, we fogged the ETec for winter 

Batteries are in house and charging.

Bass boat needs equipment brought up and somehow tarped for winter ❄️ 

BUT I am 80  % at ease, knowing the final

Work is doable and maybe even by me

 🥜🥜 tired and disheartened, told M .. I was feeling inadequate. Likely, I am wrung out from a full day of fishing and worrying
the worrying, is the worst part, of course 

on the upside. this weekend there will be help up at the Q '.

accomplished one job. had the battery in my Pixel 6 a cellphone replaced. this is in accord w /  Pixel battery replacement program. for over a year, Pixel 6 a [ and others ] started to overheat and lose battery capacity. Oftentimes, dismal performance. 
I thought that my phone had escaped but warnings started to appear relating to battery mal - performance 

So, on an off day, at least something got done

 🍿a cool to cold day on the ' bee. Yes, we got to fish

the launching. the trolley jammed on the way down to the water. We pushed the boat off.
E Tec, bless her heart, started w / a hiccup but fired right up

Fishing was slow and some areas had active fish, small but interested

returning to the railway. OK. let s fixer ' up. Did our best but there was a system failure. The trolley kept slipping off the rail.

in retrospect, the metal is fatigued and the rails have spread, enough for the wheels to ' drop ' or miss the edge 

we left the boat out on the dock, locked and bumper protected

desultory ending. the rails are likely circa 1990 or earlier.

thus. 30 minutes became 2 h. we hashed and re - hashed the history , solved and re -solved the overall trolley / railway and winch set up at the Q ' boathouse .

In the end. the focus became research a new winch, railway and trolley. TBD

then. a proof of concept idea. make a running pulley that sits on the ground. As at now, the winch line starts at slightly below hip height runs along the apron of the ground and bends down to attach to the trolley.
the pulley will change the angle of the winch s pull and stop the drag and hence poor angle of the winch line

I found an example at Princess Auto. A $ 16 item. Then affix the pulley somehow to a board or boards and give it a go

Today, I picked up the fabric piece of Oriental design. Aunt Barbara of England and not our Aunt but a cousin s aunt kindly recalled our preference in design. Aunty B gave the fabric to cousin and relayed on to us this past May

however, I set the hook on an acrobatic 2 # small mouth. only four fish for the day
my fish was the biggest and best. Using a Child rig, I aimed for a log approx 6 in in diameter that was poking out of the water, 20 ft from shore.
Good shooting, my friends. B /c Child rig hit the water and BOOM ! "Fish On ! "

Two notes. One the Child rig drops quickly and does not drift in the wind much, gotta find the spot

the boat accelerates. something black flies by. my fishing raincoat. Will it float ? Yes. Start heading back
then I notice green fishing line on a rod. I don't have green fishing line. OMG. its the backing line. which means 60 yds of fishing line is out there.

You know now that the raincoat flying out of the boat hooked by a lure and peels out the line

get the raincoat. find the single hook [ TG for that ] And I cut the hook embedded in the raincoat. gather in the fishing line. All this in the first 20 minutes fishing

Egad. What a start. one small largemouth bass

stayed more or less wet for the morning. wet raincoat and intermittent showers
