On the CBC, a segment was based on a store, called ' Paper Plus Cloth '. Owner Rowena Sunga
The owner discussed the sales of writing instruments and journals, papers and stickers. Say what ? Stickers.
Customers begin by saying ' I am not artistic but buy stickers and post - its etc. ' Obviously, the customer will use the sticker to augment or embellish a letter, card or journal.
So, Miss Pen to Paper theorizes that ' Art is the doing not the product '
The expression is the important part.
Made me feel better, I openly bemoan or justify this blog.
What for ? you write to the ether ..... to eternity or the void
BECAUSE ...... its the doing.
People keep journals to remember, forecast or just note down events in their lives
some journalists are very good at chronicalling their life .... others jot down fleeting bon mots.
Unfortunately, I fall into the ' bon mots ' category.
Boy, if ever there was a radio segment that buoyed my spirits, this was the one.
You see ' I am not alone '
you are not alone
Thus, starting tomorrow. Page by page. I will publish the ' memory ' collage that I created in Fla this past Jan 2023.

This morning, I saw a video ' garage door maintenance ' an easy do - it - yourself ' job.
I generally, don't trust DIY vids. B/c their problem isn't always my problem
Wrong. The guy used a decibel sound detector . Not needed here. The 1/2 hr session, produced a smooth, less noisy opening and closing. The guy never said to leave your guys out for several hours while the oil drips freely onto the garage floor [ I figured it out ].

Alright. I found the ' wall ' surrounding a SUV at the Tiger parking lot. and the front is solid snow and ice higher than the car. Eek !!!
On the homefront. A long time error was corrected. The owners before, put the shutoff for the outside hose above the electrical panel. Something is so wrong about that.
A friend of A .. s came and capped the pipe away from the electrical system. I cut off the valve and last night, E .. helped to replace the box around the electrical panel.

thing over and over and expecting different results. I drew a shovel for emoticon board and got ..... a jet plane ??
I've been to CBC onlinef or you don't bother .....
a mixed bag, again, for weather. looks dim out there
And
the day was, not bad, again - I mean the wind had a bite but the sun scooted out sometimes. Not spring or summer ... for a Canadian, alright.
OK delivered the tax information to the accountant. Now, wewait for the phone call when they ask questions. Culminating on the 31 st when we get the summary
We owe money.
แ - yes, I drew [ ? ] a shovel. emoticon produced this
the day is damp. air is not hazy but w/ out the sun, dim looking
Forecast is possibility of precipitation. air temperature is close to freezing
the hubbubb around the house is ' tax time '. I have an appointment to review the forms on Mar 31. Before that, the paperwork goes in for calculating the actual tax return
we owe money. we always owe money to the Feds
this year, my problem is a potential error on my part. For the good, if it is a mistake and the deduction allowed. figurung on $ 100 - 300 per year for 5 years [ minus accounting fees ]

and the time is ...... not what you think. the clocks were supposed to ' go ahead ' - not my bedroom clock. this digital requires a Phd or the patience of a saint
a so so day. bit of everything. some flurries
Really, it s 2 PM and just a bit of fluff fell. Damp and inhospitable.
A Sunday ritual is my trip to Giant Tiger. Whats so special. Nothing. I buy potatoes, soup, candy, frozen corn and fruit. Bonus : 1 dozen eggs for $ 2.44 [ or in American -ese, thats 2.10 ]. Pretty typical.
Basically, its my store. A small version of a department store.
In past trips, I've come home w/ bed sheets, pillows etc. Some small furniture as well. Many clothes items e.g. jackets, pants, shirts and even Xmas theme pj s.
Summing up. A damp.cruel day. However, it came to naught. Some snow started around 6 P
๐ขyou got it. This is a ' shovel ' again from emoticon
but in our favour. The 3 inches became about 1 inch. AND fluffy - easy to shovel at that. Yeah !!!!!
Cold ish and bright.
THUS, the day finds us watching " Tis the Holidays - the Holidays on Screen " which was taped [ guessing pre - Christmas ]. Here it is - March. And we are enjoying the special.
CRAP. Spring is when ........ ????????
I suppose that we all have heroes or those figures that achieve. I'm following a distance runner. She is Katelyn Tuohy, a soph running at North Carolina St. She is well on her way to becoming a Collegian legend. She holds records for NCAA events.
This year, at the current NCAA indoors, she has won the 5000 m and is scheduled to run the 3000 today. Thereby, doubling in the championships. Has this been done before. Yes. BUT rarely, do athletes choose to run 8000 m to achieve this
Go ! Katelyn
The boys of Spring, Lax, esp. JHU BlueJays are playing today against Syracuse U. Well, hows the seaon going ? Up and down
Losses to Loyola. MD, North Carolina and Virgina. Wins vs. Jacksonville, Georgetown, St Josephs and Utah.
However. This season has maybe taught me to shut up [ or that I was right all along ]. Hopkins finally, started playing a balanced schedule of powerful and not so powerful teams. Rather than getting beat up every weekend.
To be fair. Their pre - season prospects looked terrible. The teams that they were to play had win records [ or predicted strengths ] well in excess of normal oppositions.
OK. Smarty pants. What does all this mean. Dunno. In such an up and down season, it is hard to figure a pattern.
But Hop, is not the only team, going up and down. If you threw the teams in a mix master and turned it on - yea, thats this season.
Over the past, five or so years, undefeated teams at # 1 were the expected. Already, # 1 , 2 , 3 have lost.
Victory. Syracuse 9 - JHU 11
Katelin Tuohy doubled at NCAA meet
๐ฌFYI. this is the sixth attempt at drawing a shovel. Really, I draw a shovel facsimile. This is what the emoticon board shows.
From the CBC online. Weather alert for early afternoon and well into the night. Wild winter weather. Snow will accumulate up to 3 inches.
Good news, too. An ER physician is accepting old cell phones. The refurbished and softwear kitted out devices help disadvatnaged patients keep in touch w/ primary care professionals.
WOW !
The day progresses. Hints of slop, falls here and there. Not qute ready to dish the dirty. It s going to be a soupy mess - temperature is hovering around freezing
It is snow. Not fluffy. More like pellets. OR particles. Started falling around 3 PM and was building

A handyman or all purpose fellow is coming today. Both plumbing and electrical glitches will be attended to. BTW, this find is courtesy of A .. [ real estate salesman ] who has a mental rolodex of tradespeople
XXXXX crossed
Our weather remains near freezing,w/ winds and sun. All this changes over in 24 hrs or maybe less. Unsettled is the term and ugly is the word.
Follow up. Thr house had some errors inherited w/the place, improved
Sunny - all day. Windy and cold all day
แ yes, again, this was my drawing of a shovel
The day started, groggy, maybe not the day but me
I did set up appointments sitting here.
I booked the yearly tax preparation day review [ w/out all the papers in my possession, the last bits are promised w/ an end date of Mar 14 ]
As well, A .. has set up a session w/ a handyman person to fix some issues around the house. Plumbing, mostly. The owners that we bought from were contractors. Talk about cutting corners. One was to place the control / shut off valve above the main electrical panel. The plan is to cut off the pipe away from the electrical panel. Then, maybe, do a creative bit of plumbing.
I hope to run a plastic pipe up through a ventilation hose to run up the front of the house. Firstly, plastic pipe is not the best choice. However, the pex is supple and easy to maneuver. Then the location of the supply is dodgy. The main supply comes into the coolest / coldest room in the house. FREEZE possible ?????
Yepper, buy the house, buy the problems
Yesterday, while waiting at the bank [ I lost track of 100 shares of CIBC common stock worth $ 6 K. ] Sounds horrible but it was not easy to track.
I saw a piece in the local paper [ the Bluffs ] re: Repair Cafe. The grass roots, low budget help service offers free repairs to items. I sent in an application.
I told M .. who replies " what could you fix ?? "
Great start to my new career.
Alright. The shares. I held a certificate for 100 shares of CIBC. I opened an account at a shares service ( TST ) that along w/ CIBC offers to re - invest any dividends as further shares. Over the past 14 years, that shares fund grew to 400 or so. Then, first quarter 2022, CIBC common split 2 for 1. At a lower price.
While talking to my bank rep, he suggested transferring the certificate to Inverstors Edge. This move ensures that the certificate is registered and guaranteed through the service.
So, I kept the credit for 100 shares at TST and got 100 shares registered. Thus, I got dividends for 200 shares from the certificate. BUT then I noticed. No where does it say that I own 200 shares. Oops.
Turns out. That b/c TST first transfered the 100 shares. TST keeps the records of the original 100 shares. When I moved the certificate to Investors Services, someone had to tell IS that I owned the 100 shares at TST.
Then IS, will say, ' oh, he owned shares pre - split ' lets show that he owns 200 shares.
Everyone is blase. Like. Oh, thats what will do. I'm saying ' huh '
Hopefully. In three weeks, I can breath easy again. I mean its only 100 shares at 60 dollars a share. E Z P Z
My life in words. or blog - ese.

An it made me look good
The sun is out and the temperature is near freezing
I did visit CBC online. The good news, Canadians are teaching each other how to free whales caught in netsOf course, better would be - not catching them in the first place
Hope your day has sparkles in it
On the good news front. The dentist. The Hygenist complimented me on healthy gums.
Alright. Its not the Oscars. It s not first place in the Olympic Marathon.
The day has been domianted by sun and wind. The sun is great. The wind - not so.
⛳
the story : we dug out on Saturday, past. Sun came out for two days Saturday and Sunday.
Forecast : We are near freezing for 4 days.
Then, the weather girl says " the coming weekend will not be as fair as this past weekend
WHAT !
She likely lives undergorund downtown and never surfaces. There are pedestrian tunnels honeycombing the Business District. Weathergirl never saw the snow.
Sat and Sun next will have mixed precipitation
We have a property service, the cavalry in the pickup truck + plow. You recall.
However : I shovelled the wooden walk and the back deck
the neighbour two over s drive
and now, snow cascaded off the roof and landed - plop
on the walkout to the backyard. Basically, its the snow on the roof.
This amout is equal to the driveway. The pile is two or so feet out from the foundation. This mass needs to go further out by two feet. OR the melt goes both away and toward the house.
Thus, in total, I would have shovelled 3 driveways worth of snow.
⇬ once, again, I tried to draw a shovel.
around 9 P, a pickup w/ a plow smashed through the windrow and made a dozen passes up and down the drive
Da Da ! snow gone. The lawn service appeared. Tired.
I took them apples, on the basis, that they had been running on doughnuts and coffee.
The brothers started the day at 3 A
AND the street was bare by 5 P. Sitting in the sun for 7 h melted the dribs and drabs of snow and ice.
Today, we will be mid 40 s - at least
CBC online produced ..... " Can We Trust Dog DNA "
Nope. Didn't read the story.
๐งด got the snow as promised and then - soooo much more
I shovelled the side wooden walkway to the back deck. We need to be able to exit via another way, other than the front door
I drew a shovel under ' emoticons ' and this was a choice [๐งด]
Follow up : cleared the snow 4 ft out from the patio doors on the lower level. Melt water has to go somewhere and I prefer, it goes to the lawn.
To prevent water leakage over the kitchen, a heated cable was attached around the skylights. Then, I placed a heating cable in the back gutters over the kitchen. I added a ' telltale ' light to signify that power was going to the heating cable.
Oops ! the telltale went out.
Blown circuit / timer failure ????
I tested and discovered that the spring loaded metal cover for the electrical socket, pushes on the plug while in the receptacle and breaks contact between the plug and the receptacle.
To fix this, by replacing the whole receptacle would mean a trip to the Depot and 1 1/2 h finding the breaker and changing out the receptacle.
When your are a packrat, you save parts. I found a metal receptacle for an appliance and took the cover and fitted it to the outside receptacle. Whew !
However, that receptacle is el gonzo - kaput. I'll replace it in better weather [ w/ help ]
BTW, the city plows left a windrow higher than my waist at the end of the driveway
Earned a beer and then some.
BTW. The melt water is pouring off the back gutter. Maybe, all the work will pay off.
We shall see said the Zen Master
☃ ☃☃ over.
A huge system of nasty winds and precipitation is working its way East. After doing the eastern rockies and plains - well, we are next.
The toss up is which is worse big wind or the snow / sleet b/c the temperatures are near freezing
sorry. its called " a major low pressure system that is impactful "
I didn't quite achieve the same verbiage as TV managed
" March is a green muddy month down below "
right.
in the good news section .... nada. people are spending less
what ??? thats good
tough ! take what you can get
In the ' great ' category. The guy reviewed the nominees for Oscars. He finishes the blurb by naming the streaming service that ' we don't have ' that shows the film
Hey. that could be the good news !
We survived the morning. Coffee, unload the dishwasher and fill your face. Watch a little telly
We are planning meals for two nights. We may be staying indoors, mostly for FR and SA

Yes. Life goes on.
the nasty is holding off for now, bit of sun but that wind is a big factor

March rolls into town. Dampish feeling, wind has a touch of cruel to it. Due to come out of the East, this afternoon
I decided to save you a bunch of angst. I went through the CBC online. Nope. Really. Nothing that you would want to hear.
Assume the world is right [ big lie ] but there is nothing that you can do about it
Wrong. " curl up in a pile of warm laundry is about it "
" March is a green muddy month down below " says Bear Claw Chris Lapp to Jeremiah Johnson [ this is ' liver eating ' Johnson ].
' Winter s a long time going ...... stays long, this high '
Well, I got news there ' Bear Claw ' - winter stays long in Scarborough, too.
We saw sun. Cold winds. I cleared out the last of the ice from the back gutters [ and laid in some electric coils, to boot }
Winter is not over or weren't you listening to ol ' Puxetawny Phil '
the big lie. Jeremiah Johnson was real. OR a version thereof.
Johnson was a mountain man where the stories are stories so take what you will
JJ was wild, and liver eating was an earned, sobriquet. He lived in a cave w/ a panther. And this image is NOT the Robert Redford model.
Be careful what you believe
"Based upon a real-life trapper named John Johnston, nicknamed "Crow Killer" and "Liver Eater Johnston" for his penchant for cutting out and eating the livers of Crow Indians he had killed (several Crows had murdered his wife and he swore vengeance against the entire tribe).
As always, I discover that I am not alone. That quote above was from one of many e- sites for ' famous movie quotes ' All that I typed in was ' muddy March ' and all these hits popped up.
" he was a young man, of proper wit and spirit and tall tales of the mountains didn't scare him " voice over for the intro to ' Jeremiah Johnson '
...
Ain't this somethin'? I told my pap and mam I was going to be a mountain man; acted like they was gut-shot. "Make your life go here, son. Here's where the people is. Them mountains is for Indians and wild men." "Mother Gue", I says "the Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the world," and by God, I was right. Keep your nose in the wind and your eye along the skyline.
spoken by a fellow moutain man. Del Gue [ with an ' e ' ] ' this here is God s finest sculpturing. Ain't never seem 'em but the Alps is for children to climb and the Andes is foothills '
Oops ! not quite right there, Del Gue.
