Saturndaag

aka, ' sat on your dog '

Sun isn't up but I am. Coffee beside me and wondering if I should try to get back to sleep.

We are watching the Olympics at night < primetime hours > and shortly the events shift to the stadium and land from aquatic centre and canal.

Alrighty, been through the CBC - only thing new is the order of telling. Covid, variants and back to the office   < say what ? yes trial programs have Government workers heading back to their cubicles. >

The sun is big - BIG w/ a breeze starting. The temperture is reasonable

And we are wondering about Florida. Home of the ' Pandemic of the Unwilling < to vax > or < mask > or < save themselves > or < elect a governor w/ a brain >

Freysdaag

 or ' frayed dogs '

Well, an early morning shop at the Superstore, really your bill says Real Canadian SuperStore or RCSS

Just the essentials plus. Eggs, milk, meat and veg. Then the specials e.g. yoghurt 2 for 4$ < Activia >, a shirt button front, cotton in a pale salad green priced at $ 29 w/ a sticker that said $ 10.98 and the receipt which says 8.94. Its for fishing b/c everything I buy is for fishing

Grand total was $ 100. Oh, baby shampoo. did you know shampoo can go rancid. I pulled a shampoo bottle out of the locker in the laundry room. Smelled like not shampoo. Googled and discovered the open shelf life of shampoo is 10 to 24 months. The shampoo that I used had a symbol with 18 inside < means 18 months post opening > The cupboard has been there 4 yrs. Oops ! Dead as a doornail

Morning was cool w/ a wind kicking up.

Day was a winner - cool but sunny: Ah, refreshing is the word

Notice : again, I prove unable to distinguish colours. Well, some.

M saw the new shirt and said ' lovely, pale blue. BLUE ! apparently, there is a chance that it could be called ' teal ' otherwise its blue. OMG, sad. But it has happened before.  And will continue, I guess

Thorsdaag

 or tour day

Pretty gloomy out there for 6:30 AM

Checked at CBC online. Covid 19 and CV 19 response is a mish mash of vax / unvax, mask / no mask, we're OK / bleeding disaster

Canadians among travellers not acceptable in the UK. I think its our dollar or our beer. The English have this      ' ale ' is the only beer worth drinking mania. Lager is for unknowing dupes of the brewing industry.

Def :a beer (such as a bock or pilsner) that is brewed at cool temperatures by slow fermentation with a slow-acting yeast (especially Saccharomyces pastorianus synonym S. carlsbergensis. And bottom up fermentaion

Whereas :Ales are created through top fermentation, a process in which yeast ferments at warmer temperatures and settles at the top of the beer

Further, Googling. The story of my life. I like beer. And I try as many different ones in travelling.

Anecdotes.
1. In England circa 1999, I decided to find my favourite beer in pubs. Da da ! Carling Black Label Supreme. To be quickly told ' its bloody Belgian ' - thats an Oops !

2. CAMRA or Campaign for Real Ale definitely looks down on Lagers - called optimistically ' Euroswill ', see the ' bloody Belgian ' reference above

And I love my lagers but ales are OK, too. A very Canadian approach, BTW

Day is not getting better.

Computers. Our Dell Studio < aka, the big computer > is flashing its little side lights where we plug in the power.

The windows say 100 % battery but little messages pop up as in ' battery low ' or ' battery level critical '.Now, we use the Dell plugged in 24 / 7 which is not advised. Well, we've been doing that for 12 years.
I actually, expected the Dell to go south, years ago. However, back then my backup laptop ran Windows. Today, everything other than the Dell Studio is a ' Chromebook ' and some older gadgets only run using Windows or Mac etc.
The situation is getting better but for another few years < months ? > I may need Windows ro get new gadgets.
Lets see " Dear, dearest M, I need to replace some stuff b/c the aged, decrepid gadgets need Windows and the Dell Studio is dead.

Poring rain.

Weendaag

 or weiner dog

Well, got out for a day  on the river. One smallmouth, not big but feisty came to the boat.

No whining. Great day, gentle winds and cool ish.

So ! where are the fish ????  Dunno.

Just nice to be out there

And Lotto - launch the boat. The trolley slid down the rails, the engine turned on the first crank ----- Magic stuff, babee !

Tuudaag

or ' Life is Like a Slot Machine ' -  aha guess where I've been online
Really, seneca casino, mayhaps

Got it in one. The day has light but H / H is on tap.
And I am meeting A for patio lunch, at Sunset Grill. Sort of more brunch - ie than lunch - ie

The Shop Vac saga. I checked the original instructions. Yes, use a foam sleeve and fit the re -useable filter cloth over the sleeve and secure w/ ring assembly. However, there is no mention of a bag. I guess, bag is optional. The bag < a ShopVac product > does say ' fine filter ', I'm hoping that that means something.

By happenestance, there was a video on YouTube that averred that a bag was needed to contain small particles.
BTW, we use the ShopVac, at least 4 times a week. Part of that usage is for vacuuming out the lint filter on the dryer. Years ago, I decided that shaking out the screen over a garbage can was nuts. The dust, probably, flies all over. Thus, we use the ShopVac   < or mega sucker upper > to pick up lint.

The news. Disney is closing stores in Canada. Eagles are making a comeback in the Atlantic provinces. Those are not the highlights. You don't want to see the highlights.

Trust me

Inside dining, everything was wet on the patio. 3 eggs / toast and ham. Cherry on top. < no, kidding there >

Happy Muundaag or post # 3102

Lehman s greeting was Happy Muundaag < or moon dog >

Apparently, we are not addicted to the online casino. To wit, we are making ourselves go online to spin for points. TG, I wan't sure.

The day is warm and muggy. Today, was Chinese takeout from Skyland. The girl / woman server greeted me w/ a smile and hello. In fact, she was training a new recruit.

I went big for sushi today. And the usual meal noodles and 2 choices. Of course, sweet and sour chicken and BBQ pork.

Job wise. I bought a re - useable filter < 20 yrs ago > b/c you didn't need a bag. And often looked inside the drum at the bottom and wondered. Cleaning the filter, again, ' is this right ? '

Recently, I've looked at the mess in the bottom of the Shop Vac and wondered about the mess in there. THEN on YouTube, a guy explained what happens when you go bagless. Yes, you don't buy replacements bags but you also get smaller particles flying out of the vacuum. Since, we use ours in the house - well, do we want flying particles. Thus, bag it is. For a trial, anyway.....

we shall see said the Zen Master

Addicted Part II

there is a free gaming site associated w/ our favourite casino, Seneca Allegany.         ' iplayseneca ' is a palliative for when you cannot be at the real casino. Addictive ?????
but they have us for now. The current campaign is called ' Christmas in July ' and credits increase as you successively log in.

I suppose after the 25 th that the corp hopes you earned enough free credits to buy more < in dollars >

Hot and humid is slated to return.

BTW, still on ibuprofen for the knee - don't like that

The run through at CBC online was predictable. Gloom and more gloom. The world is ending or ' non - vaxxing to death ' , butterflies are missing, wildfires - a sign of our time Yick - a - rama

Tonights workout was a copy of last one. Lower BPM and lower cals but more fat burn zone. Hey. I might get thinner  < not >

Saturday, 24 July 2021

addicted to

Netflix. Say it in't so - it isn't true

The site is a time waster during exercise. Which by the way was modified. As per 3 days ago, I limited weights and maintained cardio and calories burned. Tired, yes - exhausted, no

The day is sombre and wind seems quiet - ish. However, wind gust warnings are in effect for the mid-afternoon dying down late afternoon. Plus, that chance of thunderstorms. Yick ! Right about mimosa Saturday time

OK back to exercise stuff. You, reader have heard all about the theory of exercising for me. A good sweat, some cardio, some strength < maintenance goals > etc.

Ala last night, heart rate did not peak above 140 BPM and the ' zone ' levels were lessened. I'm talking about - low intensity, fat burn, cardio and strenuous. For the last four years, my % workout time has been cardio and strenuous. Up until this last week, my readouts show 70 to 85 % in cardio zone and 5 - 12 % in strenuous. However, these last two workouts had 60 - 70 % cardio  and 20 - 25 % fat burn < very little in strenuous zone >
I guess that I was driven to achieve higher numbers. Now, that I've seen the results of cutting back a bit on strenuous activity and the rest of my goals are met
---- well, I guess that I can live w/ lower BPM

And the rain came. Mimosa Saturday under the overhang of the roof was a success. Hardly, noticed the inclement weather. But noticed the excellent Prosecco and cheese plus crackers.

First social event in 16 months

Friday, 23 July 2021

' you got to believe

... it s  getting better
better all the time '   JPRG

Bright out there but rain is due the weekend

The TorStar advice " don't let the summer be wasted "

And we might be doing that, in this house.

Although,     b/c " Mimosa Saturday " is tomorrow. Its an outdoor deck meeting w/ neighbours < 2 >. Its a try at something social.

Thus, proseco is bought plus OJ and nibbles

Will the rain hold off Saturday. We may have to close the dome like at Rogers Centre < if only >

Day was sunny w/ a stiff breeze AND that sun was hot

Tomorrow, we shall see - rain -> thunderstorms ?????

Surviving ( # 3098 )

the work detail at the QMH - day 2

The day involves taking ibuprofen as required and icing twice a day. Understand that icing the knee probably would happen anyway. The physio stated that heat is better < usually > post - injury after the swelling goes down. However, the final word was ' if cold makes it feel better, ice away '.

Did I mention ' stiffened thumb ' yesterday ?

After all that moaning, I exercised last night, anyway. I lowered the difficulty by limiting weights to 1 set of reps - same rowing and a bit more ellipticking. Same workout length.

The result was - same sweat - out , lower calories burned < by 10 % > and lower level of effort. The lower effort meant that the workout was more ' fat burn ' and way less ' strenuous '. And I felt better
Ah, live and learn. You see, the calories burned were down from the usual 1 080 or so at 990 but that same 990 happened 4 days before after a regular workout. Maybe, you can imagine that I really could use the ' fat burn ' part of the workout.

I wasn't exhausted last night either < sore but I was sore pre - workout anyway >

Mayhaps, a new format was initiated for exercising here in Scarborough,

We shall see said the Zen Master

Swept through CBC online < for you >, more gloomy than our day here in Scarborough. The highlights, stock prices fall reacting to more oil being pumped by OPEC and CV 19 news was disappointing.

Oh, vax fatigue is showing in Ontario. Uptake of vax is slowing dramatically. Apparently, unvaxd types are waiting to see if vax is needed b/c things are opening up.

a Miss

Ah, you thought that I gave up the blogging business.

No. I was incommunicado at the QMH.
On Monday, I travelled w/ the owner about 9 AM or so to the Q. Our purpose was work. Specifically, tending an ailing dock.

We spent that afternoon, prepping materials for re - supporting the dock. New plates and brackets to lock in the uprights were shaped and painted w/ zinc overcoat liquid.

We took the truck and half filled the truck at Home Depot and then did the same at Costco. In the truck, could be found  3 plastic gas cans < full >, a BBQ propane tank < refilled >, 4 - 8 ft sections of vinyl siding, 2 bags of footing cement, two bulk bundles of toilet paper, 2 bulk bundles of paper towels, 36 cans of fruit soda and a partridge in a pear tree < kidding ! > and 100 5 inch galvanized bolts plus the nuts.  And we bought salad kits and pecan banana loaf < these weren't too heavy but necessary >.

Came back and put away stuff and headed out fishing < oh, imagine - boat - lake - evening  >

Next day, was at the dock for 10 hrs. Planting uprights, bolting in plates and support bracing.
I have a limit that says 6 times up the stairs at Q is my daily quota. Likely, it was 15 times, on Tues. We left at 9 PM to return home.
My knees hurt < surprise ! >
and I have wrenching - bolt shoulder
twisting- nut wrist
standing from sitting on the dock - thighs
plus my back is aching.
But thats all

a Promising Day

replete w/ humidity. A workday at the Q.

a Follow up report : the little fan that could. The portable / USB fan is called a Treva. There are many models as I discovered online. Most are straight battery powered fans < of mixed diameter blading 4 - 6 " >. Mine just happened to be dual. Yes, it runs even w/out batteries installed.
The noise level is low, on low speed. I've heard fans described as ' whisper quiet ', trust me - Treva is a whisper. The other portable mini that we bought spins fast and sounds tinny < made of metal I guess >. Treva is plastic < ???? > and whispers
However, I'm not a plastic enthusiast b/c these plastic items fall apart easily
We shall see said the Zen Master.

CBC online has its dire warnings ' UK opening up too soon ' and vaccine hesitancy may boost a 4 th wave possibility. '.
The UK is 2 /3 of it s population vaxx2 but w/ some of its highest hospitalization rates, thus far. Of course, the severity may not compare to previous times. But it seems to me that when ' you ' are hospitalized - it pretty hard to take comfort if they tell you that you're not as bad off as others before.

dreary dreary ( #3095 )

and thats me - mimicking the weather

dinner was spaghetti and meatballs. M makes big meatballs. And to continue the Italian theme - zucchini ala ' somebody '

CBC had its plethora of good news.  NOT !
There is the continued warning that ' delta ' is waiting to pounce. Well, why not us. The big ' D ' has been everywhere and a big hit, too !.

All suckers, have a weakness.
Mine, coats and jackets - traditionally.
Lately, its USB powered gadgets. E.G. today, at Shoppers Drug M. a 5 in - 2 speed fan, yes, USB / battery. Why ?
Cute. Praying that it would be quiet. We bought one ( 3 years ago for $10 ) however, my 75 Hp outboard is almost as quiet.

I really wanted to try the baby fan in the truck as alternate air flow that you could aim. Seems like the vents in the truck are blowing in my face or away from me, missing me all together
Success ! Quiet and handy. Now, one more ?

The long range from Brett Anderson at Accuweather.

Jul 20 - 26 for the Great Lakes, lower basin - very warm and dry

Ju 27 - Aug 2 wetter

The day was moderate everything. Little sun, little wind and little humid came to pass

dinns today, turned out to be leftover, crab quiche. Not eveyone gets crab quiche let alone < last week s dinner >

Rain ? gloom ? well, so far that s it

M got her haircut and nails done - beautify Scarborough Day at Natural Solutions, it seems

Me. Snipped off, a couple of handfuls of hair. Still ugly after all these years

Oops ! fallout. from CBC online

[[  As children emerge from their homes after COVID-19-related lockdowns, common viruses that all but disappeared during the pandemic are re-emerging too, doctors say.

"This time of year in pediatric hospitals, it's usually quiet," said Dr. Fatima Kakkar, a pediatric infectious diseases specialist at CHU Sainte-Justine in Montreal. "But now we're seeing a surge of respiratory infections."

The level of non-COVID illnesses is what Kakkar usually sees in the fall, she said, when children are out and about in daycares or schools.

While the public health measures taken in the last year — including physical distancing, masking and staying home — were used to stop the spread of COVID-19, they also had the side benefit of preventing other respiratory viruses, including colds, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and human parainfluenza virus, which causes croup.

But experts say that also means because children haven't come in contact with those viruses for a long time, they haven't built up the antibodies they normally would — and they won't have the immunity they might otherwise have.

"What's happened to us is we … had no exposure," said Dr. Allison McGeer, an infectious diseases specialist and microbiologist at Sinai Health in Toronto.

"Now that we're getting back to normal and kids can see each other, we're starting to see those infections [again] in children." ]]

a new 3 day record

slept til 7 AM -- WOW ! zers

Sun is out and all is well w/ the world. We can dine ' in restaurant ' today    < w/ limits >

Moving through the courts is :

[[ The CBC television show Marketplace said in 2017 that about half the DNA in Subway chicken was, in fact, chicken and the other half soy, based on testing done at Trent University in Peterborough, Ont.

A Subway expert on DNA methods and food testing said the tests were seriously flawed and their results inaccurate, maintaining the company's own tests found no more than one per cent soy.

In a related decision, the Supreme Court also declined to hear Subway's challenge of a parallel appeal court ruling that prevented the chain's negligence claim against Trent from proceeding. ]]

The CBC neglected to test if the bun is real.

Well, there s the news Bro < or sis >.

I visited ' Daddy Wonderland ' called Princess Auto.

Neat. I bought a portable air compressor < tires >. Some compressors use DC power via the cigarette lighter plug. However, I chose an 18 V < lithium ion > air compressor. The pump runs off the battery pack - not connected to a car etc. It costs more than the plug in kind. BUT ..... use it anywhere
plus its 18 V not 12 as in a cigarette lighter plug

less sleepless in

Scarbrough. Yesterday, awake at 3 AM ish. Today, made it to 5:30.

From the CBC :

[[ A growing number of emergency rooms in Quebec are struggling to care for patients as hospitals deal with severe staffing shortages caused by nurses fed up with pandemic working conditions.

Across the province, several ERs have been forced to curtail their opening hours, doctors are warning about the potential for medical errors and patients are facing longer wait times.

Doctors working for the CIUSSS de l'Est-de-l'Île-de-Montréal say beleaguered hospital ERs in Montreal's east end are on the brink of collapse. They warned of a possible closure of services in an open letter addressed to the Ministry of Health on Monday.

"We see the situation is getting worse and worse over time, and we're on the verge of a breakdown," ]]

Thats an Oops ! moment for sure.

Rain on tap for the day plus Humidex of 93.2

Another order from Amazon arrived. In my defence, citric acid powder was hard to find and the quantities were small - ish and costly.
Citric Acid ? I could say that it goes in my bubblebath for effervecence etc.
Nope. Recommended for cleaning sink and toilet scum.
We shall see said the Zen Master.

Lunch was soulvaki chicken dinner < mega rice and salad and taters >. I got the burger - I mean from ' the 6 Burger Bar ' - " vat else " ? .

M wanted veal sandwich < nope > or meatball sandwich < nope >

We were celebrating that Toronto re - opens tomorrow w/ ' dine in ' allowed. Of course, we did take out.

There is a dither over vaxx regulations.
Asking people to carry vaxx2 papers or vaxx visas interfers w/ their civil rights - yeah, we're eager to dine in. NOT

sleepless in Toronto

or Scarborough, Ontario

We are vaxxing like nobodies business. And businesses are asking                               ' Quando Quando Quando ? '

The answer it seems is t' his Friday ' midnight. We'll see theatres etc open w/ limits. And the owners are asking why limits ?

Rain. Off and on. But rain for the week. Unless, of course you live in the West. Ouch !

The sun is out and blue sky is showing < great ! >

Hot and humid - sunny.

" Remo Williams - the Adventure Begins " is a 1980 s movie. It s a pseudonym for what happens in this house.
To wit. At SuperStore < bulk etc >, ' air chilled chickens were 60 % off '. I brought one home and split it in half and marinaded the halves. The thought was ' let s BBQ the chicken '.
OK on the grill. Flames and smoke - the skin charred a bit. I survived and got the chicken quieted down. However, I heard a dripping sound. Right, chicken fat is splattering on the floor. I even had a tray to catch stray drops.
Nope. Little splashes were everywhere. I managed to get an aluminum plate under the right spot. And inside the BBQ housing, there was a heap of ' black crap ' made of char bits and grease.
This late morning, I got out there and cleaned out the mess. I brushed the grill and flame spreader to take off the burnt stuff.
The greasy crap scraped out easily and I de - greased the inside surfaces.

BTW, the BBQ has a grease catcher cup - that ' doesn't '.
The cup was the cleanest part of the BBQ

To verify the work, we had hotdogs for dinns. Plus salad.

This house is the ' adventure begins ' , every day.

reflecting

when we first had the cottage, 13 yrs back now.
I'd look forward to getting out
there were some early setbacks w/ the engine
some original problems w/ the railway fo the boat trolley
so much so, that even yesterday
well I'm expecting the worst

That might be me or / reality sticks its ugly head in. The good.
The boat launched and floated w/ instant start. I caught a bass right where it should have been < off a weedline, at a drop-off, say 6 ft going to 12 ft >
BUT the rest of the fish hadn't got the memo. However, a good day. Mayhaps the best day of the week for weather.

I forget that the shoreline got rebuilt and with it, the foundation for the marine railway. I guess that that right there makes a huge difference in making the system less ' organic ' < my term for anything thats glitchy, and the railway was ' ORGANIC ' > As well, the fuel tank has gotten doses of Seafoam < engine cleaning additive w/ a mystical reputation >,

And yes, I finally read < or understood >the starting instructions for the engine . However, in my defence there is one set of starting instructions but every boat has a different control panel and starter setup. Yes, its ORGANIC as hell.

Have a Holly Jolly July 🎅 from Lehman s

or Xmas in July. Never heard of this before < Christmas in July > til this year. Seneca the casino outfit is re-introducing its online gaming site. The promotion includes, yes, Christmas in July. And now I see the term everywhere on the net. Certain towns are famous for their July 25 festivities.

Yes, I'm Going Fishing

but it was a close thing. Always is.

My allergy breakout < or not >, didn't sleep well < wow, is that unusual [ not ] >

Thus, a miracle happened when I got out of here, almost at 8 AM. Traffic was light. Day was cloudy and damp. AND, the boat launched and ran. Ran easily.

{ Helps when you read the owner's manual and learn how to start the engine < like maybe, I should have read the points listed, long ago, when the engine begin to balk on starting > }

Yes, the engine starts.

simply living on Sunday

 from the Lehman s banner

or trying to be simple

Sort of easy for us. being so simple. really simple.  sadly

The day broke a bit sunny and now has clouded over. More or less as predicted.
And rain followed, light and sprinkly - dreary moslty

Today was a trial run - did garden work < gloved and long sleeves and pants >  of course, waiting to see if my plant allergy or whatever breaks out - again.

I used a garden torch to touch the weeds < usually detsroys the conductive tissues > and used a saw blade to cut roots. You see, about 5 years ago, I bought hand saws w/ handles that come off by unscrewing a screw. I mounted the blade on a pole. I can stand and cut weeds and stray plants < sawing slightly below grade >
I think that you need a dual approach to weed. No one method is effective for all plants. Torch first b/c its easy and then cut the roots. Next step, is chemical. Vinegar and salt solution or weed killer.

Dinner. Homemade pancakes < homemade ? like what else would it be, we didn't go out > Sorry, from scratch is the term.
Delicious. Mine w/ cornsyrup and M uses fake maple syrup thingy.

Bursting Sun

well, at least it looks bright c.f. the rest of the week.

Rain comes back in 2 days.

CBC online : gave me
Let s rename the ' gypsy ' moth b/c it is considered a racial slur. Now there is the ' Japanese bark beetle '. However, the gypsy moth has a bad rep for mass destruction of trees < one leaf at a time >
I think if the gyspy moth made you rich - the name wouldn't be offensive

As good as could be. sun and warm and dry and the wind is up

And for dins, we got take out or pick up. The saviour was  the 6 Burger Bar < encore >.  And our first choice ' nachos ' was in stock. We had been trying for 6 weeks and finally - da da, yes we got them.
Evaluation was as follows : copious, cheesy and gooey. The nacho chips were slightly ' bran ' tasting < bran ?? or wheaty ????? >

a wish for peace

as the rescue crews are down to the grim task of pulling bodies at Surfside, Florida

CBC online - a dud. Variant delta followed by lamda, how to travel if vaxxd2.

I notice that the media haven't started to use the Greek symbols for the variants < b/c they would if they could - just to prove how clever they were or are - which they are not >

alpha would be : @fa

beta would be : b/

delta ?            : ^

lambda         : y

BTW. the closest to actual is ' delta '

And ' delta ' symbol is available on certain keyboards b/c delta symbol is " difference " in math and science

Rin is on order for today but not heavy as in the past 2 days. Our subway stations had water pouring through their roof s.

However, our roof didn't leak < XXXX fingers >

Arrogance and Ignorance - on trying to find the difference. I'm re - watching Sherlock Holmes " Elementary ". SH is skipping AA meetings b/c he is bored and accepts that he is superior to everyone there at AA.
Ah, but Watson points out that ' that arrogance ' is the downfall of all addicts. Sort of ' I can beat this b/c I'm better '
The problem is that its not a contest.

I remember in biology, the rules of energy < entropy > in systems

1. You can not win

2 You can not break even

Ignorance. Not stupid. But unable to see, the rules of entropy

B/c it is not a game. A game you can tie and occassionally win.

NOPE. not entropy. Of course, the ' leakage ' in all systems is heat. Random motion of particles which can do no work unless there is a difference applied < then there is heat loss >

a rainy session in the ' 6 '

' 6 ' is a nickname for Toronto and region. Coined by Drake, referring to the area code 416. Primarily used when he was talking in rap about bsketball

Of course, we have the ' the 6 Burger Bar ' as our takeout place.

Did I mention that on Wed, I received both the Shingrix shot for shingles and a pneumonia shot. Both arms were sore < right / Shingrix still slightly tender > however, last night exercised, per usual.

I decided to modify the workout in case of discomfort. Started out rowing and watched the HRM pop up to normal values for workout. Then, well, business as usual. There was a slight modification but not for pain or discomfort - just being reasonable < for me >. A big sweat workout and done !

' paradise '

 instantly, gone.

Eveyone said that this is worst one yet. 2014, 2015, 2017 all tragedies. Then, in California .......

Actually, some 2 h but fast. Paradise was the town that stood in the path of Campfire in 2018. I re - watched the PBS documentary on ' Campfire '. Paradise revised the sum total of all thinking on wildfires. Careful controlled evacuation by zones, became obsolete as a fire front, wider than the the town moved from mile marker to mile marker in minutes.
Townsfolk, basically had 10 min to boogey or die.

The new policy : each person is their evacuation chief - don't depend on the town.
Spooky. And terrifying

Aha, shopping day at Metro < we get air miles there >
the best, they had everything
the worst, I bought cookies ( soft and chewy, easier on my teeth )

lawn or meadow or field

Take Care of Your Lawn 🌾 < from Lehman s banner >

But what if your ' lawn' is more of a field.

In Victorian England, people grazed sheep on their ' lawn '
I'm tempted - really

Honestly, do I really think that I'll find good news in CBC online ? If I did, then " WRONG " !
CV 19 is high and getting higher in numbers in specific spots.

Wow, low vaxx rates, high CV 19 numbers.
Experts : CV 19 is becoming something to live with like the common cold.
Delta variant is highly transmissible

Along comes

z.... the next variant

On the repair front. I taped the door seal on the fridge < all of 2 yrs old > that is the insulation for the bottom of the top fridge door.

The real problem is how to insulate w/out making that part of the seal bulge or be different than the rest - or air seeps out
We shall see said the Zen Master.

More shots today. For shingles and pheumonia.

what s going on

 ?

My cousin asked in an email yesterday

My reply was pathetic

According to the CBC, the Delta variant is causing a rumpus in S Africa.

Ontario is doing quite well in vaxxn # s, I mean we keep applauding ourselves so it must be true. At the same time, malls are still in  lockdown and no venues can open.

Under Phase 2, mall stores can open w/ limited patronage.

Well, today ' surgery ' was required. Its kinda tough when the surgeon and the patient answers to the same name. My right big toe < w/ the ingrown toenail > Hurt !. I soaked the foot in Dawn and baking soda.

Then went at the nail edge about a 1 / 3 of the way from the top. PAIN, ooh. Enough, of the nail got hacked away to take nail stuff away from the toe skin

However, relief. The stinging is gone and its not uncomfortable to wiggle the big toe. In fact, nothing. To finalize, I wiped the area w/ alcohol and then topped the area w/ Betadine.
The patient is resting easily and the surgeon is raising his prices ( figures, right ? )

Sun out and wind up but supposedly light and wispy. Next door went fishing and they will let me know.

Also, the movie " Born of the 4th of July " not a pleasant story

BTW, my plant allergy is back or never went away. The last three days, I've been breaking out on my atms < mostly left >

Unsettled Prevails

kaboom, rain out of nowhere. Humidity was building and a downpour happened.

However, the moisture went and the air was dry

CBC online produced - not much.

The result of unsettled is a rewarding summer s day. Blue sky, little breeze and dry
The flag is out there drying

Humidity Will

drop off - for at least a day.

Surprise ! Couldn't sleep. Up at 5:00 AM, and re heated coffee.

Played casino for 1/2 h and lost all the free credits ( Oh, you can buy credits - not likely, here )

Swept through CBC online. Heat covers the West. Prices for grains are looking to soar. UK prepares for a booster fall < older folks may need a 3 rd shot - Crikey ! just put AstraZeneca in the drinking water >

Oh and this is Canada Day..... a little different b/c there is a sentiment that Canada should not celebrate w/out a pause for the discovery of unmarked and mass grave sites associated w/ the Residential School System. In fact, I did not fly the flag this year.
Many governmental agencies are flying the flags at half mast.

Bah the naysayers ! The flag is up and drooping ( no wind ) but it is trying - really
