Rainy days and Mondays

Yes, used this title before.... but you didn't realize this
See, how honest I can be..... when my memory is hitting.

Weather is warm for Mar. for us. But dreary , very dreary.

Last night was the 2 nd installment of ' Vikings ' on History channel.. The story line evolved a bit - people are paying the price for helping Ragnar and ratting Ragnar out ( to eliminate , the disloyal peons of the earl ( guy in charge ).
That little wifey of his , a real scrapper that one.
I recall the ' Vikings ' and this was w/ Richard Widmark and Russ Tamblyn (? ) as the hero adventurers seeking the Golden Bell, the Mother of all voices. The baddie, Sidney Poitier ( ? ).
That longship was brightly coloured and shields, well - were fakey looking but decorative. Last night, it was all aboard the rowboat and lets take it out for a spin.
Realistic, w/ suffering ( or glorying ) in the rain and cold. No horned helmets which I thought was terrifying accouterments for vikings, kinda like standard issue.  Oh well, all my fantasies have died or faded and I don't know which is worse.
In segue, I'm reminded of the movie ' Thor ' when Thor regains his Mjolnir and power. As he stands there in full kit, my Natalie ( Jane ) says " is this the way you normally dress " - horned (winged ) helmet, buckles, metal and leather -  her line " its a  good look " See the helmet really does it
Those English monks could've used some of those fighting Buddhist
martial artists.  Good swag , lousy defenses.

Stuff in the news. That election in Kenya, had or has its problems.
12 dead so far, which is very good. The dude that won still faces charges before the international Court in the Hague for war crimes.
The loser, sitting prez, will judicially contest the results. Roughly, 30 million voted and the margin of victory was 4, 000 votes. Those citizens lined for 3 - 8 hrs to vote, all this in the heat and dry of Kenya.

To-day is the anniversary of the tidal wave in Japan. The TV specials are focusing on the lack of progress in re-building and the effect on the Japanese people. I think that the world realized how extensive the damage was back a year ago but.....  looking now , the scale is truly mind boggling. Mother Nature brought the hammer that time.
