Better Eating Through Blogging

What ?
I've explained that my Op Osm plan ( fitness covering an explicit need to shed fat ) has many facets
Exercise - 40 min averaging 5 - 6 X per week
Alternating between free wights mainly and an exercise                   ball routine w/ lots more elliptical

Food - watch those carbs
pita chips and single layer flatbread
            potato and sweet potato
my jello / fruit cocktail and apple or blueberry filler upper

Alrighty , the list of what I want to have

Beer -    whenever the occasion presents
Bacon , butter and coffee   - seldom for the first 2 and no                               boundaries for the last
Sushi     yes , carbs but tough , we'll figure it in somehow

If I get this , am I happy ?
Barely.
I wanted mt diet to be what I could have rather than food no - no s

Honestly , certain items got the chop since Op Osm started and I mean the ' CHOP ' , cruel almost

Item list

Cookies ,                    gonzola el completamundo ( some foreign                                          language )

French fries                very limited but acti-fries ( 1 tbsp oil in  a                                            specific device , T Fal Actifryer )
Jam                             E - Z pzee. No  extra bread , no jam

Potato chips               forgotten , instead baked or pan toasted pita
                                   chips , wafers

Weather : warm at 65 F and rain threatens , gray out there , wind is still

Thanks Ohio , for your support for my arthritis ' crisis '
OK . its the finger
But criminy , its my finger
" the finger bone connected to the wrist bone
the wrist bone is connected to the arm bone
..................................................... "
Its headed for my head
Arthritis head , here we come

More beer please , lets dull the pain

To -day , for some small part of the world of irrelevancy
JHU faces the Nittany Lions of PSU , the prize..... a place in the B1G Championship game
Perspective , Hop still must face Maryland , 7 th ranked nationally or OSU which beat Hop already.
If JHU wins the B1G Tournament and automatic qualifier for the NCAA finals - JHU s record will likely mean a play - in as one of 4 teams w/ the worst record as an AQ from a conference.

But ... but .... at least a chance b/c the other route , an at large bid goes to teams w/ superior won - loss seasons and prominent wins
Hop has 3 Maryland , ....................... which will count for zero point nada as the committee considers resumes

GO ! you Black and Blue

Shook'em Off the Mountain

Nepal had a quake. They got rumbled off the Mount Everyready

In the news , should provinces support the film industry
New Brunswick said  ' No ' then had to backtrack.
A interviewee said that the gov't attempt to switch to a tax subsidy was deplored by the movie industry. Why ? B/c , it turns out they don't pay any income taxes. Aha , says we.
You know , the deeper you get in these questions , the more you gotta wonder , huh ?

The weather is raw - ish. Not freezing but not nice , damp as well.

B1G

Ahem , ' B1G ' , what spell check is not working ?
No. This letter / number symbol is the new ' Big 10 ' logo.
No longer 10 teams , closer to 15 + 2. Johns Hopkins is an ' associated member ' in one sport , lacrosse.
Readers will have seen references , here , about JHU , their trials and tribulations this year. Namely , a barely .500 record and losing to any ranked team.
The last 3 weeks have seen the conference portion of the schedule for B1G teams. JHU entered this week end w/ a 3 - 1 , record having lost to OSU.
Their opponent was 4 th ranked nationally , University of Maryland
undefeated in conference play.
In most years , JHU would be on the outside looking in. A combination of poor record and no notable victories would have spelled a dismal season , going nowhere.
However , the B1G has an automatic qualifier for the NCAA play downs , leading up to championship week end , end of May.
OK . So ,what happened this week end. W/ trepidation , I went to the ' live stats ' website at 9 PM , to find the Black and Blue , hanging tough w/ Md , back and forth scoring. Then in the 4 th period , bingo bango , the Jays came alive. The Hop put up 6 goals to Md's 3.
The end result , JHU claims the B1G title. Tied w/ Md , by record , the Jays came 1 st place by goal difference. The expected win by OSU over Rutgers , didn't happen.
Thus , like you , M has heard me banging on , about this turn of events. Pity , her ........

World news by the numbers , TorStar.
This has bee a record year for assaults against Jews , world-wide.
India is rapidly fixing its schools , pouring money into education.

Weather : 47 F on the back deck , hazy w/ sunshine. The week ahead foretells temperatures in the high 50 s , mostly sunny.
Good.

The World as ....................

............ an enemy ???????????

Alright , where do these ideas come form

On the latest episode of ' Grey's Anatomy ' , M's fav nite time soap , a long time character Derek Sheperd  aka. McDreamy , dies. The background music is ' If I Just Lie Here ' by Snow Patrol. No , I am sure that I've heard it before , but Googled the name ( now , you know why their profits are up ).
The lyrics include ' we could lie there and forget about the world '
In the movie " Kingdom of Heaven " the romantic leads knight and queen have this exchange
Q: What becomes of us  ?
K: The world will decide
     The world always decides

Ah , the world as the enemy , the unfeeling but powerful

" Will you colorize my life , I'm so sick of black and white "
Meatloaf , the great philosopher and sage

Weather : continues cool to almost cold. But there is a difference , the air doesn't have the same bite or meaness , as two months ago

Stay hopeful , the world will not intrude to - day

Privacy and the Internet

I'm reporting from the segment Apr 23 on the CBC re: privacy in the age of the internet and electronics.
Obviously there is none.
However ,you must be aware that logic programs exist that can piece to - gether bits of data to make - YOU.
We all need the sense that some facet of our lives remains secure.
What that facet is , is unique for each person.
What are the limits for most people ?
Credit score , love life ?
Apparently , in a survey , a majority of people were upset when it became known that pictures of their private parts   ( read , penis here ) were stored or available on the internet ( and / or stored ).
You won't find mine.

The reason that I am recalling the interview is that the interviewee also said that on FaceBook ,etc we leave a trail of , us. Some persons leave a broad , personal trail including loved ones.
However , all of us leave a trail.
On this blog , I endeavour not to name names for that reason , unless the person is famous or already known.
I try to limit personal details but I figured out long ago - I must be    ' leaking ' information about me
My sole consolation , with 2 readers , the branching tree of contacts must be fairly anemic.

And on the CBC and now the TorStar , the raging debate continues  " have we been duped by the milk industry " or how necessary is milk ?
Heck ,folks , I figured it tasted good and if it had important stuff inside all the better
What ? no milk in muffins , no milk w/ muffins ?

As well , Apr 24 - TorStar headlines say - Google and Microsoft show rising profits

We got a cold one folks. The backyard temperature is 34 F at 9 AM

We are greening up. A few buds have popped thru and there is a tinge , a tinge I say , of promise of better conditions

Guy Girl in Damascus

No.
The real title of the blog was ' Gay Girl in Damascus '
The CBC on the morning show ran an interview w/ the producer of a documentary on this blog and a Canadian woman who corresponded w/ GGiD.
It was a hoax title. A guy wrote the blog. The Canadian woman was in an internet relationship w/ GGiD.
I hadn't realized how deceptive the internet could be. Guess again , Bucko !

My blog title is false too !
I am not gay. I am not a girl . I don't live in Damascus

However , the origin of this blog title was , use 2 sentences to comment on the world and life.
I did try. It was a total failure.
Now , I blog about the world and life and me
And it got longer..... and longer ..............and longer
Sorry audience
However , this is art and you can choose not to read
Well , its not necessarily art but you don't need to read it
That was a comment on the CBC as well about a artist

I'm trying to use my i Phone more. The calendar and notes and reminders are the main functions. I have started to record exercise data HR , max and min and cal burned. I use a Polar fitness watch and transfer the data to i Phone.
B/c I was ' blog  - incommunicado ' up on the ' bee , I stored notes and ideas on the ' note ' function

Apr 21 The sun shone and went away - rain came sideways - and the sun came out again ...... repeat........... repeat

Apr 23
The TorStar banner headlines ( no , didn't bother reading the text
you're not supposed to , the banner catches your attention and like the writer you can make up whatever you want )

Mc Donalds sales in a slump in the U.S.

Coca Cola profits rise as price of drinks rise

Gold prices slump

Canada needs a 40 % rise in oil prices to get out of deficit budgets

Oil industry set to push back - don't know why people oppose pipelines

I didn't make these up. Straight off the page. Holey kamoley , this could be palgiarism - a straight steal

You know , you look at those headlines and you can go
' what is this and should I care ' I guess..... should we ??????

Hello , world

P.S.  this is from yesterday

Not quite

but hello, the U.S.

The Boston Marathon went to - day.
The chant " go , USA " rang out for almost an hour and a half
Then

Betcha Ya Can't Wait

Sure , you can !

OpOsm was an attempt to lose weight. The project started in JUL 2014 and is on going ( thats what you say , when something is close to failing ) except , so far , as the Zen Master says , good.
I ' borrowed ' my title from a TV show called ' Operation Osmin '

In the show , Osmin , takes an individual , usually desperate to lose weight and get in shape. The regimen is typically urban based - Osmin has them lift tires, blocks and swing industrial doors etc

The people complain and get angry but succeed. I decided me too !
Over approx 5 months , I lost 20 lb. Good. But the real goal was long term health. Specifically , diabetes b/c of family history and perhaps , no , not perhaps , for sure less strain on my knee.

I continued to exercise , riding my elliptical and doing free weights
The aim of the free weight workout is to maintain strength , some flexibility and use my arms (v legs on the elliptical ). I have two routines.
Welcome Back Routine : is ride the elliptical and jump off and do free weights , 6 different modes and then some resistance band work and then keep jumping back on the elliptical.
Burst : is ride the elliptical at different speeds for 6 minutes , fat burning spurts etc. then use an exer - ball to do flexibility exercises.
Then repeat twice more.
Both routines take approx 40 minutes

For diet , and I mean what I eat not what I leave out.
Fruit and applesauce
Fruit and orange jello
Beer , b/c it was no use leaving out things that I want
Almonds and raisins
I eat carbohydrates but limit the amount and type
For instance at dinner rolls , yes but leave out the potato or pasta
or no rolls , and have the pasta

As mentioned , OpOsm is an ongoing project. So far , it has survived Xmas and New Years ( especially hard times for OpOsm )
a vacation and BBQ s.

you're bored , I can tell

weather : grey to sun bursts 48 F on the back deck Rain still possible

We don't garden here in the sGWN until 3 rd week end in May
except for very hardy flowers.

Shrinking seats , Rising Rage

No ,the TorStar didn't exactly print that Headline
But
all the pieces were there
To wit , our bums are getting bigger ( over 30 yrs , the average is up a bit ) , the seats are getting narrower ( a bit )
And incidents of upset and possibly violent passengers is increasing
For a short haul flight , 160 seats , economy was the average - now , some planes come equipped with 180 - 5 seats and discount carriers are in the 190 range
On our Fla flight , we had a seat mate who easily filled the seat and a bit more. He found a seat across the aisle and switched

The weather is cooler but sunny and a little cloudy. Rain is coming over the next few days - off and on.

On the organizational front. Yesterday , in a fit of ......... need to do
I took the electrical power bars and placed them on the desk upright ends. This move meant that the upside down garbage can that supported the bars could go. There is now room under the desk for more stuff................ KIDDING , we'll keep it clear.

Well, the boys of JHU , took control of a game and never let up.
The BJs beat Michigan in the conference portion of their schedule
This win gave the BJs 3 rd place at least and a position in the BIG 10 championship. JHU has done what was needed , they are 3 - 1 in conference play.
Left to do ? Beat # 4 Maryland , maybe twice , to reach the play - offs for the National championship week end. Normally ,the Black and Blue would be looking to achieve a winning record and beat quality opponents. Their schedule in the past was loaded w/ top 20 teams. This year , the BJs have lost to , Towson , Virginia , Syracuse , Princeton , N Carolina and Ohio St. These 6 are play - off bound , for the most part.
Md is next week in BIG 10 play. Then , the BIG 10 play - offs in College Pk , Md.
Heady times , I think
Go Jays

Ah , to -day , ideas are running around inside my head
We shall see and I'm no Zen Master

Good Day

The Alarm Guy Cometh

The sensor in the front bedroom window is emitting a fail signal every now and then. Thus , the alarm guy comes out to check.
When we took the offer from the ADT salesman , he promised  ' life time ' battery replacement if we went w/ the wireless sensors vs. hard wired. He didn't lie. ADT is still replacing batteries for free.
Friends said we'd be shocked at the cost of batteries if we had to replace them ourselves.
One time when I called the ADT centre , even the operator was surprised at the contract terms.
The ADT centre offered two time windows to - day... 9 - 1 PM or 1 PM to 5.... I took the early time - M was looking at me funny like ' you had a choice ? and you picked 9 ? '   Yep.

Weather is warm and great - 61 F out on the back deck which gets its furniture back , its been looking bare out there.

Have a good day
Do something nice for someone , I will

P.S. The Alarm guy Goeth  - Yep , came - replaced - cuz they can't be bothered figuring out - was the screen bumping the sensor or is the unit defective. Done in one.
Except that the ' new ' sensor ( original is ten yrs old ) is 1/2 the size. Actually cute looking.
Back then , I cut the screen frame down to adjust to the sensor b/c the sensor was a little too wide for the ledge. Now , the new sensor fits perfectly and I need to repair the frame - almost back to the way it was pre - ADT sensor.
Anyway , the repair guy was fist , efficent , in and out

And
The week in news , By the Numbers , the Torstar

43                    the number of the United States w / their own                                   lotteries

1                      $ billion threshold achieved by 21 states

70                     $ billion in total sales for U.S.
10                     % of total state revenue from gambling

25                     % of Minn. lottery billboards devoted to to                                        gambling warnings , if a bill passes
And
The Antarctic ice shelves are vanishing
Why do we care ?
In 100 years , the Venables Ice shelf will be gone ( projected ).
The Venables holds back 2.2 million cubic kilometres of ice.
If the now - held back ice slides into the ocean - water levels will rise 3.4 m ( or 12 ft )
Announcing a new disaster movie " Terror of the Sliding Ice "
Storyline : In the future , global warming causes Antarctic ice to melt. A huge ice sheet is heading for the open sea , can a crack team of demolition experts led by Riley Spooner save the day.
NO , don't be stupid - get out your boat and row.

The ' Facebook ' Thing

Its baaaack... FB
A cousin from out west , is sending messages via FB
I'm still not into the flow or whatever
He'll have to wait

Weather : holding , w/ warmer temperatures. There was rain last night ( how much ???????? ) but ti did come down hard for a while

In the Greater Toronto Area , a debate is building about transportation. Our commute times are right up there w/ the best or worst. Our 401 hwy ( across the top of the city ) is reputed to be the heaviest travelled road in North America.
Going across the lakeshore of the city , we have the Gardiner Expressway. An above ground roadway at hwy speed. Approx ten years ago , part of the structure was taken down at the east end.
Now , should all of the roadway come down. The only alternative is Lakeshore Rd ( street speeds allowed ) and not much else.
Taking down the Gardiner improves the sightlines for the city but leaves a backlog of cars accessing the city. As of now , w/ repair work and lane closures , the Gardiner is running at at 70 % efficiency. the roadwork finishes in time for the Pan Am Games , so , the Gardiner will be ready to handle an excess of 30 % more cars than usual , NOT. There are even lane restrictions planned for the games.  We won't be going anywhere near the thing

Listening to the news while we travel , we are not alone.

AKA

...... I replied to a request to complete a survey for the Royal Canadian Mint. I often purchase stamps and coins as momentos or for value.
The survey site asked for a nickname to be used as a reference
I chose ' Silver Surfer ' , for sheer whimsy. Of course , the return e - mail was addressed to the Silver Surfer. OMG  , hopefully , this is a one time event. Really.

On the telly is a recording of the " Hobbit " , its been three years , at least , since this first part of the Trilogy was in the theatres. I've watched or re - watched this recording , 3 times minimum. Mostly , as background noise. I figure if its going to be crap , that it might as well be good crap.

The weather holds - and we have spring. the forecast is for the same , at least a week out. Maybe, some rain and wind , but the mild temperatures will remain.

We tried to book the ' den of iniquity in Southern NY ' but they were fully occupied next week.  Our money wasting trip is on hold , it seems. Our fallback position is to visit the ' Ripley's Aquarium ' in downtown T.O.
We very seldom go downtown. The process is typically to drive to the nicest subway station w/ parking and ride ' the Rocket ' as they say downtown.
Alternately , we can park at GO ( Government of Ontario ) station and take a train downtown. The train delivers us right at the base of downtown and the aquarium would be a 10 minute walk away.

We talk big but downtown is really outside of our comfort zone , so if you discover that we never went , don't be surprised. We won't be.
The Canadian National Exhibition is the biggest fair in Canada , held yearly and on the Lakeshore - we haven't been during our married life - 28 years...... we say , that for a change will go , every year.

A secret tip. The centre of my diet , and I mean ' diet ' as in what I eat as opposed to , what I leave out , is orange jello , mixed w/ can fruit and apples chopped or sliced. For a change , I sometimes use frozen blueberries. This mix becomes breakfast and is a snack as well.
Dr Oz hasn't got to this one , yet , in his advice in   ' First for Women ' - but he will , I'm sure

have a good day , y'all

It's a Marvel

or not. I'm still watching the ' Marvel Comics - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ' and its a reach. I get the concept of a spin - off e.g. from Iron Man , Thor etc. , I guess this one down't do it for me.

Weather : again , warm and sunny - I could get used to this

And on the boob tube : Operation Osmin , the episode that got me going on OpOsm of my own. The lady needs to lose a bunch , around 45 lbs , it turns out. The original session she had was 30 days in Miami w/ Osmin. We are talking military type boot camp. She jogs ( while he back pedals ) , lifts tires and swings cargo doors etc.  the lady loses 20 lbs in the 30 days.
Motivated the lady continues the training on her own.
This scenario got me going - thus , TV isn't all bad , just mostly.
She ends up in her ' cat suit ' or black pant suit outfit , slimmed down and raring to go.

I don't have a cat suit. I am wearing size 34 pants , tho'.
However ,this OpOsm was more about health then clothes.
I was thinking long term and that meant reduced risk of everything that goes wrong.  We shall see said the Zen Master.

To - day , is the annual patient review for my mother , in the nursing home. The average length of stay is about 3 yrs, Mom is in her 11 th year. She is on a secure floor for patients w/ some form of dementia.
The patients wait at the elevator for someone to take them home. Now , they haven't a clue where home is - just ' home ' .

Be good to your web footed friends !

2sentsworth............

... a big thank you for being a loyal reader

When I ' blog surf ' , the blogs that I see are more colourful
The blogs are on specific topics , often , art , music etc

OK , why isn't     ' 2sents...'   more colourful ?

Dunno, false advertising , I guess

I broached the subject , a couple of days ago ..... ' do I enjoy myself ? '
Figures , I got an answer
M. said ' too much analysis on your part - you over think everything '
Don't imagine that  it
 was a compliment either

Umh , he said

Here it goes , soul searching 101
She is likely right. the solution eludes me

However , we are going back to that den of iniquity in lower tier NY
what the hey !
That is not soul searching but ........... its me
it will have to do

the weather is ... well , fantastico as they say in Italia !
Name it , we got it , if its good

Why " YouTube "  ???

I have been practicing driving in the UK on videos
I drove in Bath , Somerset and St Ives , Cornwall.
I watched 6 ten min lessons on a driving test for a person trying for her license.
Am I ready for UK driving , maybe ?

Last time round in the UK driving , I had some iniial and following difficulties on round - a - bouts. RaBs are very common in UK.
to wit , on a 3  1/2 hr trip to St. Ives out of bath , I can expect 20 or so RaBs on the route.
First , in Inverness , Scot. I was told by our  host , not to worry , b/c the drivers are terrible in Scot.. Doesn't do much for insurance rates but at least , it felt like I wan't alone.

Next , all the instructions say that you need to read the signs and find your exit before entering the RaB.

We were using our GPS or SatNav as the Brits , say , w/ a borrowed chip for UK / Europe.

I found out on entering , the Middlesborough area that maybe the chip was slightly dated.
The Premier Inn wasn't on the GPS map , in fact , nothing was in that location. Questioning the staff produced information that the Inn had been there 10 yrs. And the shopping complex , opposite the Inn , also a blank space - for 15 yrs.

Then , after some trouble at RaBs , I asked our relatives , concerning Acklam Rd , the one exit that I needed to get to their house
Answer : ' they moved the road , some years ago '
So ,there I am planning on taking ' Acklam Rd ' and it doesn't exit.
difficulty , I'd say.

This time , I hope that I've bought a newer ' read ' up to date chip
for UK / Europe

I'll continue to drive in the UK , virtually and virtuously

Enjoy the day

The Ups and Downs

...........or the Ying and Yang

Global warming is causing radical changes across the globe

BUT .... some pundits are saying ' Russia and Canada ' could benefit from the 1 deg C rise in temperature.
To wit ,      Saskatchewan and Alberta could become the new  ' Nebraska  , Iowa etc ' of North America. The paralyzing cold of these provinces could give way to moderate climate for most of the year

Of course , by then , Canada , most likely will have sold Sask and Alb,  to pay off the national debt.

Weather : Warm and sultry. Up on the 'bee , the lake was still iced , so that the wind was chill.
Rain has started but will clear by later to - night

SKYPE is terrif !  We talked to London , UK. for 0 $ , total time 26 min. The only problem , the English cousins had to look at us , the whole time

Hilary runs again , oh you lucky dogs , in the Land of Free and the brave - you'll need it.    Clinton vs Paul ---- I can see it now
A real blood letting and thats the primaries

Good luck to all

Seasonable

...... thats the official term for the temperature for the next 7 days
Welcome words , however , the warmer trend brings rain
The winds ripped through , this region last night. Gusts were measured circa 40 - 50 MPH. The back yard is reminiscent of the fall - every leaf that could fly came out of the ravine - and landed in our chunk of hilltop.

I want to say that we will follow our Saturday routine - which is like almost every other day , minus appointments.

Op Osm is still in the shake out phase. I see the show listed in the guide but figure - same old.
While away , on our gambling jaunt , we ate irregularly. I snacked on peanuts. The peanuts may not have been a good choice. And double dessert Wed night was excessive.
Thus , another piece of data was added to the set which dictates my changing or changed diet.
I still have a printed saying ' Some people must be fanatic about weight control ' - meaning , I believe - that physiologically not everyone controls their weight easily or whimsically.
The quote was from ____ Jones whose father was Allan ?  Jones , famous for ' Donkey Serenade '. The younger Jones was on a talk show discussing how he kept his weight under control.

Anthony Perkins on a talk show opined that a person should lose 10 pounds each decade after 50 - this one kind sounded stupid.

Enjoy your day , dudes

Crossing the Bar

We enjoy visiting the U.S.  and worry crossing the border. Watching shows such as ' Border Security ' are scary and reassuring. Scary b/c we wouldn't know what to do if stopped
Reassuring b/c we won't be carrying anything illegal.
this last trip , we brought back 9 cans of Yeungleung , dry roast peanuts , raisins and diet coke.

The weather is dodgy. grey but signs of sun lighting up the sky
Temperature will rise and be almost spring like , well for sGWN.
We get warm weather for May 21 or so , Victoria Day week end

Back to the daily routine here , put the house back in shape , shopping etc

The sun broke through , right now !
Wait for it - it will be clouded over in a bit

McD s at Home

' The Loop ' , the entry page for Sympatico mail or Outlook has these banners announcing a feature article or video
McD s French Fries at home
1. russet potatoes cut 1 / 8 " thickness
2. soak in water w/ dissolved corn syrup
3. Pat dry
4. Fry the chips for 4 min in peanut oil ( high smoke temperature         oil )
5. Pat dry and cool for 1 / 2 h
6. Re - fry in peanut oil but add beef tallow or hamburger                   drippings to the peanut oil. golden brown the chips
7. Sprinkle w/ salt laced w/ beef bouillon ( esp if you left out the         beef tallow or hamburger drippings

BTW - you've left out a wad of chemicals that the industry needs to keep the oil from changing too quickly and for flavour

Yes , you are right. Get the munchies - go out and buy the fries
In fact , the PBS channel did a feature in which Julia Child actually said that she thought McDs fries were good tasting

Who woulda thunk it

Still a grey day but diffuse sunlight evident
Low lying cloud deck
Possibly clearing later

We bid good bye to $3 coffee and $3.50 sweet roll

Adieu Allegany , adieu

Stuck

..... thats the expression
dice ,again   I
                   V

Gloomy day , cool and the sun didn't even bother trying this AM
We wouldn't have cared cuzn we were inside

In '  First for Women ' mag - Dr Oz's advice source
a banner read ' 75 % of all prepared food items ' in the grocery store contain sugar. Now , this is akin to the headline   " Dog Bites Man " when the real newmaker is ' man bites dog '.
Thus , the real reveal would have been 75 % of prepared package foods , do not contain sugar.
In keeping w/ Op Osm strategy , breakfast was ' meat and eggs ' , left the potatoes alone , ordered rye toast. Rye is supposedly the better bread option in lieu of white or brown. Thus , Op Osm is now entering its 9 th month. Oh , so small a beginning , w/ lots to go. However , you can't get to 10 w/out passing 9 etc.

" a ship - wrecked sailor on this coast bids you set sail
Full many a gallant vessel weathered the storm
Ere this one was lost "

Alright , Alright !      I'll go try again at craps

Apr seventh

OK lost $150 at craps.... problem - the house .. not me ... got it
Started out ultra - Conservative..... alright ! that lasted 4
minutes
Down to my last $5 - I bet the world - the ace-deuce hit that paid $11 - should have pressed the bet ( double the original ) , bing bango , the 5/6 hits and pays 11 (didn't double ) and next the 6/6 hit and pays 26 or 52 if I had doubled or 104 if I doubled twice
Oops ,did it every other time , Crikey !!!!!
Woulda Shoulda Coulda - this is my epitaph

Weather , sucks - cool , drizzly but the sun broke through for an hour
All is good
Warm and dry , afterall

Reporting back to you , " On Global Warming "
I wrote that in my reading , it seemed that the Vikings colonized Greenland and northern parts of Labrador. And anecdotal reports talked of ' ice free ' passages in the N Atlantic.
I was asking that if this reportage is true isn't it wrong or simplistic to talk of global warming , now.
Apparently ,scientists and paleo - climatologists were aware of this information. The segment of time that I referenced is called the ' Medieval Warm Period '. Yes , it was warmer in the N Atlantic.
However , in other parts of the world , the name ' cool down time ' would have been used.
At the MWP ,  glacial core samples tell paleo - researchers that Greenland's ice sheets were within sight of the coast. Not disappearing , as we see now.
Thus , it was warmer in the N Atlantic but correspondingly cooler elsewhere - sort of shifting the heat around the planet. This heat transfer is normal and logical in natural cycles.
To -day , however , there is no balance location for the warming thats taking place - seemingly worldwide. The warming cycle has no rebound point or reset. And now , I understand a little better , the concern that scientists have for the trend of the past 20 years.
I Googled this info - so ,  as in all other gleanings from the internet - corroborating evidence is needed.

36 F..........

.... thats the temperature , Apr 6 and the forecast says flurries.
Mixed precip for 3 days.
Sunday dinner was a success but we're the hosts. Thus , I mean we thought things went well. We seemed to have enough food. Relatives took ' doggie ' bags home which certainly helped w/ the left - over problem.
The meal was turkey , stuffing , broccoli , sweet potato , green bean casserole , mashed potatoes , gravy and rice. We came up trumps w/ dessert. Lots of choice and lots of left - overs. We didn't keep much dessert , we'd eat it.

To - day, we clean and put away. Thus , we come to cooking the turkey early. Last night , was very efficient and a little chaotic at times , too. Certainly , the washing of dishes got spread out over two days , or three really. The kitchen is already in good shape w/ a bit of finishing up to do.

We get on w/ our lives , whatever that means.

Have a good day

D - Day

............ dinner , day
So whats the big deal , dunno. This place has been in a tizzy for , well ,the week.
We're getting ready. As mentioned , all but the rice , one veg  and spuds are refridgerated and waiting to be warmed.
If the headline reads " 11 poisoned by pre - cooked food " that will be us. Everyone seems to do it according to M.
We washed every dish in the kitchen at least once , yesterday , and the fridge looks like we're keeping an unfed family locked up.

Weather : Gloomy and dampish looking but not really cold , rather cool.

Stay tuned to this blog , for more on the ice box feast for Easter Sunday. Apparently , I'm vacuuming ( again ) , can never be too clean , right ?

Lets Face It

...... our live are boring. We live comfortably but no kids - we are really DINKs .... Double Income ( pension ) No Kids.

We entertain on Easter Sunday , dinner for 11.
You can understand then that our lives are topsy turvy. The table was set or re - set on Thursday. The turkey was thawed by Friday and wiped down w/ soya sauce , my version of brining.

We are trying a new system. The turkey is cooking to - day , Saturday , and will be re- heated on dinner day. Apparently , many of M's friends have done this pre - cook the bird thingy.
Obviously , our first try. We will let you know.

The weather : the temperature is 40 F on the back deck. The wind is still chilly though , the sun is out.

The World News by the numbers.

3 000               individual reefs comprise the Great Barrier Reef
350 000           square kilometres comprise the GBR
1 500               species of fish and 400 species of coral in the GBR
28 000             new jobs possible if a new coal port is built
50 %                of the GBR lost between 1985 and 2012

Not exactly great news , but then , when is the news good

My job vacuum the front living area. Back to work.

Easter Fri

We've lost the religious significance of the day. We are not church goers. Sunday is a family dinner. Cousins and second cousins and now boyfriends and girlfriends.

The day broke bright and sunny , the temperature is 50 F on the back deck. I wasn't alive when the day broke open. A card game arose by happy accident. We played til 2:15 AM , as in to - day.
I slept in or longer as it were.
I won but at a $ per hour event , pretty poor. I made $ 7 / hr. Thats not minimum wage , in Canada.

I'm signing off to wake and pretend that I can be normal - NOT

Be real , folks !

Thurs Apr 2 , well , Thurs ... what have you got to say for yourself

Weather : The forecast is for 70 F , somehow
Somehow . b/c we will get rain  We had frost warnings last night N of the city proper

A word of note : Here in the sGWN , we have a gardening rule
No planting delicate flowers til .. what we call Victoria Day or May 24. The 24 th is a long week end.
We use the expression ' two four ' to mean a case of beer as well.

Except the date could be anywhere from the 18 to the 25th depending on the year. A long week end but the date changes. This year , 2015 , the date is the 18 th , the Monday.

For Southerners , your corresponding holiday is Memorial Day (?)

I'm running around to -day , all to do w/ fishing and eating
A. is taking me to the best rod and reel repair in Ontario.
30 miles W to Mississauga . What am I taking , Nada.
Then we go for a lunch. Usually , we go to ' Very Fair ' Chinese Restaurant.  To -day , not so sure.

OK Have a good Apr 2

Post Script message : the day was fine til the sun went in. the wind was cold despite the sun and when the sun got covered and little drops started to fall , the temperature changed too !

I did take a reel to be cleaned. The reel is circa 1988 and runs a little stiff. To replace the sucker would be $ 220 and it may not be quite the same quality. So ,probably worth it

We hit Bass Pro Shoppes as well. I bought new shoes. Loafers in brown , leather looking uppers. On clearance and I used a Xmas gift card - too Neat.
Actually , thats 2 pair of shoes in 2 days, Yesterday , coming home , I stopped at ' Giant Tiger ' . GT is a shopping lovers ' Target '. Lots of cheap stuff but often brand names go on sale. I found ' Wilson ' running shoes and snapped them up. Well ,they're not $200 shoes and I didn't pay 200 ( 35 dollaros , in truth ). However I haven't run in a long time and likely won't - so half ass , fluorescent green / blue  shoes will do. I'm wearing them now. comfortable but thin soled. These newbies will only ever be on the elliptical anyway.

We had the sushi special for lunch - $ 15 , 4 course Japanese meal
Soup , followed by assorted sushi , next tempura ( veg and shrimp )
dessert also ... ice cream , mine was green tea.
I brought a doggie bag home - no doggie , but they didn't know
that.
Arf , arf , arf - I got dinner , out of it

So is it written , so shall it be - from the Ten commandments or somesuch ( I think Yul Brynner says the line )

Wednesday, 1 April 2015

I'm blogging on ' notepad ' , the program and not connected to the 'net. I'm sitting in the front window looking at broken ice in the river. The sun is bright ,the wind is cool to cold and its about 42 F at 3 PM - methinks thats it for a high for the day.

We / I haven't been on the 'bee very much this year. In fact , this is trip #2.  Trip #1 was 1 hr  - look - everything fine and boom - we we're gone.
This trip , is vacuum flies , put out garbage , we have garbage collection , quite regularly up here.
Walk around pretending that I know what I wanted to do.
Don't step in doggy doo. It takes 10 minutes to get the gunk out of the grooves - trust me , I know.

And I'm nodding off - the blog was to keep me awake - Nope didn't work

signing off for now

Next day , now , the entry continues.
Wednesday , is sunny and high blue sky.Temperature is 42 at noon.
To - morrow looks to be 70 F or close.
