Weather : holding , w/ warmer temperatures. There was rain last night ( how much ???????? ) but ti did come down hard for a while
In the Greater Toronto Area , a debate is building about transportation. Our commute times are right up there w/ the best or worst. Our 401 hwy ( across the top of the city ) is reputed to be the heaviest travelled road in North America.
Going across the lakeshore of the city , we have the Gardiner Expressway. An above ground roadway at hwy speed. Approx ten years ago , part of the structure was taken down at the east end.
Now , should all of the roadway come down. The only alternative is Lakeshore Rd ( street speeds allowed ) and not much else.
Taking down the Gardiner improves the sightlines for the city but leaves a backlog of cars accessing the city. As of now , w/ repair work and lane closures , the Gardiner is running at at 70 % efficiency. the roadwork finishes in time for the Pan Am Games , so , the Gardiner will be ready to handle an excess of 30 % more cars than usual , NOT. There are even lane restrictions planned for the games. We won't be going anywhere near the thing
Listening to the news while we travel , we are not alone.
