The New Month

approaches

Ah, a change of seasons, and have we already switched over to Fall mode.
Still wearing shorts as daytime garb. However, I did wear pants up and back from the QMH.
Apparently, some wag staying there thought up the name ' Riverine ' to acknowledge the change in ownership.
Quarter Mile House, represented the description of the location or 400 yds from the confluence of the Otonabee R and Rice L, no doubt as a selling feature and to remind that the lake wasn't far away.
Curiously, I fish the river.
The river is cleaner. I've heard stories about lakeside owners and some need to continually rake their shorefront as weeds are forced in by a prevailing wind.
Now, we do get the odd tree part or island of bullrushes taking up residence, temporarily. In fact those bullrush islands do alter the shoreline considerably. We've noted several of ' my ' favourite fishing locales have been permanently altered by the arrival of a floating island.
In truth, I've lost maybe 4 spots just because things change. And am I finding replacements.
No, and certainly not as fast as they disappear.

Weather, sunny and not 2 hot or even 3 hot

Go forth and enjoy
or stay forth and enjoy
its all good

Apropos of my theme, this is the banner for the Giant Tiger newsletter just received

" Sweater weather is almost here " we have a fine selection of cardigans

the Search

for the lost dog

Ginger wandered off from the neighbours backyard through the open gate.
An older lab, Ginger is partly deaf to mostly deaf and arthritic.

Questions, such as ' how far could that dog have gone ? '
for food - far
arthritic- for food far

Ginger was found last night hunkered down on a lawn where the people feed the birds - bread etc

Mild, sunny weather continues

We checked bushes and gardens

the 5 AM Wake Up Call

an alarm
Noooo
Can't go back to sleep
Thus, I'm trying blogging therapy

We're back to Paul Simon
" I don't expect to sleep through the night "  an Obvious Child

The weather has cooperated mega. Blue skies, dash of wind and some rain.
Apparently, farmers needed a bit more rain especially near the Quarter Mile.

The students took pictures at the re-union and posted them on Facebook, well, on 'messenger ' at least.

We range in age from 69 to 86. The # 60 is long ago. At least the sweater fit.
I recall it used to be so loose - yeah right

Maybe Guthrie was right so says ' Whitehorse '
in " Kicking Down Your Door "

Make way for the welcoming committee All smiles & handshakes for now They are screening refugees for authenticity The desparados keep their eyes on the ground Here comes the weight of suspicion Accusations growing like weeds Now the young men in their hand me down parkas Bartering these archaic dreams oooooh kicking down your door oooooh kicking down your door

#2416

blogging since 2011 Oc

I think that this is #1

In the movie " Thor " the hammer is too big.  Thor looks like he's swinging a doll house.
It must be tough striking the balance between those who read ' Thor ' comics or know Norse Edda and the frosh who see a new action-fantasy movie.
Dr. Don Blake ( Thor's alter ego, on earth ) used a cane and limped. The cane became Mjolnir.
Of course, I pronounced it ' ma jol neer ' instead of ' molnir ' my Norse, not being fully developed at age 15.

I'm getting used to the hammer now that I've seen the " Avengers "
update 2012 6/ 19

To be re - broadcast for #900

OK I was right that hammer was too big

the smaller hammer gives greater effect
as in ' you mean that little thing knocks down a house or Frost Giant '

Well, Marvel has moved on from Thor
Natalie Portman got older
I got older

To-day, sunny and pleasant
Amazonia is ablaze

And a touch of Thomas Hardy

Mon Fishing

the report

A dream day for fishing
1. No boats
2. Wind was up - steady from the south
3. I was in a good mood

Aha, you say. Aren't you always, going fishing.
Not really but I should be.
Funny how reality gets in the way

The morning bite was on - my first cast caught a small almost a pound smallmouth bass.
Crappie were hitting - I got 2 and then Nada
Two largemouth bass took the ' hack rig '
Then about noon a walleye took the hack.
Some morning

Afternoon, wind started to roar. Great !
The ' walleye wind ' is what its called
Nope
Not this Monday
Still a rewarding day

One of the new owners brought up a computer loaded w/ movies etc. Someone added a few new ones
Thus, I only watch ' Tomb Raider, 2018 ' once while I'm up there
Now, there is ' Alita, Battle Angel ' - I'm in love w/ Alita.
Her motto ' KATN '

Well

things went well, yesterday.

I'm a dummy b/c I forgot how nice these people are. Appreciative and warm. Many did track for 4 - 5 years and even the transfers (1 - 2 yr types ) have fond memories.
We found out that the former student who passed had congestive heart failure and the condition had been worsening.
Last night, the heater turned on in the truck b/c the automatic climate control was on. In cottage country, the predictions had the overnight in the high 40 s - low 50 s.

BTW, there I was giving fishing advice - and the poor former students had to sit there and listen - they were very polite tho '. And said thank you

The long range from Brett Anderson basically says that the East can expect a lengthened summer. The extracted comments below cover the Grt Lks especially Erie and Ontario.
Accuweather predicts :

Aug26 - Sep 1    once edge of cool and rainy now                                   changed to wetter
Sep 1 - 8             warmer
Sep 9 - 15           warmer

the Segue

pall walker to

Celebration
Last week, I walked beside the casket of a former student and track and field person from our School.

Today is a re-union w/ the same group.
I'm wondering about the dynamics of the afternoon.

We shall see said the Zen Master

As well, I'm doing YouTube surfing for the last 2 days.
I re-discovered ' Snow Patrol , Chasing Cars - reworked ' . A positively stunning piece even though that I'm not a musician and probably don't get all the nuances of the performance

I recall this : I've heard ' Chasing Cars ' on TV, I google it and lo and behold its famous already. Of course, why wouldn't it be - on TV < Ah , duh ! >

We were in Peterborough near the Quarter Mile, shopping after lunch. I walked into ' used discs music store '. I asked for Snow Patrol. The owner says ' yes, they put together a great compilation '
I'm thinking ' I'm buying the CD for one song - on a whim '
Mea culpa big time. One of my favourite CD s and I love 4 other songs more than ' Chasing Cars '
Yes, the dude was right
Although, serendipitously, I was right too - I did buy the thing

BTW, this entry is #2412

Weather is ' mid - summers ' dream material

Only

" Only one life, what does it mean
.....
why does only one life make such a difference "

the words of Jimmy Webb

I woke up early ->

and listened to CBC

Eek ! Turkey, what a place. A Muslim country (?) and forcibly deports ethnic Syrians

For a lighter listen : Amy McDonald ( Scottish ) singer and her take on ' Dancing in the Dark '. Why so neat ..... great voice w/ that brogue AND she sings it slower and you can actually get the meaning of the words. When Springsteen sang ' Dancing... ' - I think you hear the words but w/ AM, it makes sense.
Next was Anneke Van Giersbergen ( ? its spelled wrong for sure ) doing ' Time after Time ' , the Cyndi Lauper song. Very nice job

The overnight temperature was cool verging on cold.

Alright fishing re-visited.
The fish that I caught over the Sunday - Wednesday excursion were all victims of one method and it wasn't drop shot rigging.
I went back to a  'work around ' rigging or fishing hack that I made up a few years ago.

I have all kinds of theories about fishing - yes, you have probably heard them all or will.
Here goes

Things weren't going too well. Few hits and fewer fish. I had tried this brownish plastic stick bait ( usually reliable ). The plastic was chewed up a bit.
I was going to toss the used up thing ...... then !
Wait, the scent that they put in is likely in the plastic
- why not cut it open and use it.
But being used up, certain parts were OK other chunks too beat up.
I cut the stick bait shorter. So basically, out of a 6 in worm thing, I get two strips of brown about 2 1/2 in long and skinny.
I slid the first piece over the jig head. The plastic is so thin that it barely stays on the jig. Well, I go for it.
And so does every type of fish. I caught perch, sunfish, rock bass ( these are smallish ) THEN a largemouth bass slams the jig. Not a giant but a pounder for sure.
Yes, something that works.

Well, I was doing so bad this past few weeks
Why not ! go back to fishing hack #1

Starting Sunday when a pike hit the ' hack ' rig and many smaller fish, I had a good four days.
Monday, smallmouth bass and another pike went for the ' hack ' rig.

Now, you see the beauty of the ' hack ' is that if you use a new stick bait for this - you get 4 pieces out of it. The cheapness keeps me in.

Thus a $1.20 or so plastic stick bait gives 4                  ' wrigglers ' or 30 cents a bait < can' t even touch that if you buy ' smaller  'grubs b/c they are a $ 1 apiece >
I thread the thin plastic on the jig and then cut the tail piece lengthwise - for wiggle.

Tuesday, the over slot walleye took the ' hack ' then a pike ( that was a pike a day ) and the smallmouth jerked the rod tip down

that smallie didn't want to give up - all you heard was laughing and screaming. I was even sitting down eating corn ships when the smallie hit. For the first few minutes, I couldn't even stand up b/c I couldn't raise my arm high enough to stand.

The best part as I've said is that everything goes for the ' hack ' when the biggies aren't playing - sunfish, rock bass etc are.
And for a finale on Wednesday - a keeper or slot walleye for food. M is pleased w/ that

Gorgeous day it was today. ' Summertime and the living is easy ' Gershwin

A Fishing Get a Way

for three days

OR a lot to prove

B/c I had been having a worrisome few weeks - for not catching and losing fish
Alright, I misread an article on drop shot fishing. Specifically, how to set the hook.

Redemption

Pictures to follow
The guys are younger, its obscene
What they can do
We fished Monday from 8 to 2 and again form 5:30 to 8
I'm dead and they are talking about running into town
Oh, yeah - over my dead body

22 years difference between me and the young- un there

Tuesday was my day, tho'
It started w/ an over the slot walleye ( keepers are between 13 and 19 inches - everything else goes back )
Then a pike about 3 lbs and a smallmouth of 3 - 4 lbs.
A 3 picture day. Except that the young'un may have blown the picture

Actually, pall walker b/c the venue was level and the casket on the trolley. 12 of us in 2 teams.
Mine did the least work b/c I think we were the oldest by a ton.

Greenland in the

news

The surge of warm or brutish heat as they say in Jolly Ol' made its way to Greenland. The melt was enormous < you know 1 billion Olympic swimming pools a day ????? >. The glaciers are usually stable by now as summer ends but this year the melt is still on.

However, the U.S. has offered to buy Greenland. Denmark administers the island and has mentioned the economic strain of maintaining the island.
Apparently, this purchase will count as a carbon offset for the USA
b/c except for cows and goats and some small industry - the island produces very little non natural CO2. And the ice is good for drinks too !

Sorry made that last bit up

Sunny and warm

My saga :
We used a Smart CashCard, Great Britain Pounds in England last visit. Ours are about to expire end of August.
Ready !!!
We waited til Aug 2 as advised by our banking rep. No cards came.
I called the help line
Oh, your card is due to arrive in the 2 nd week of September.
We tell them that we fly out Sep 3. Oh. We'll send it out EARLY !
The card arrives b/c they charged  $15 for early delivery.
I called back and whined and moaned
Sorry sir, we'll reverse the charges, its not your fault.
Thats me.
M
The card is suspended but you've been issued a replacement card at no cost.
Wait. Wait
No card comes
We call, surprise ' you're card is suspended ! '
Oh, we'll issue a new one - no charge. It will arrive in 10 - 15 days
OR in English
< it will barely make it ! >
And it comes w/ 0 pounds
we need to add funds on line

Arrgh !

Air travel and Me

hate flying

Also, on CBC this AM, a interview discussed how the airline industry has exempted itself from climate control and isn't obligated to do anything. If all the airlines were added together, the total carbon emissions would equal one of the top ten carbon emitting countries. They didn't say which one or how high up the chain that they would be

Solutions:  talk to the airlines and state your concern or/ travel less by combining trips or / buy offset carbon credits

Oh yeah. Sounds kinda weak. How about that I stop flying. M will kill me for that.

The day was terrific, sun and cloudy a bit - a little breeze.
The rain was cold < really 2 thousand drops and it quit > and after the air was chilled.

But wait - H / H returns w/ a vengeance bringing a humidex of approx 102 - that will be the peak on Sunday.

1 plank or less

progress of some sort

OK re: transferring songs from laptop to cell phone
All previous attempts were failures

Then, a light
I took the SD memory card from the phone and plugged it into the card reader slot on the Chromebook.
Fail !
But then I noticed this window that said ' card formatting '
Pressed the little icon thingy and
yes, the songs transferred to the SD card

Back into the phone and press the song icon
Nada !

On line, ' Motorola G5 seems to use Google Play app '
You got it - another step
Oh yeah, submit your credit card for future payment ' NO '

Then like a blessing : press the song icon and
MUSIC played

To all those who use some music service, 80 % of the songs are not available commercially. And some of the ' songs ' are actually mini - sessions from NPR ' the Tiny Desk Concerts '
Thus, a quite unique selection of songs

Weather is warm-ish w/ shades of H / H
To-morrow though a change to cooler and dryer

Tidbit here : on Charles Darwin
CD thought that his famous finches were different birds not different species < as in not related at all > only when an ornithologist back in England noted that the ' finches ' were all from the same stock animal, long ago. However, he did note that a            ' thrush '  or something had similar looking relatives on the Galapagos Is.

Pool News

or gossip

Met a fellow who lamented the continued closure of the hot tub, me too ! The plumbing for the whole pool itself needs to come out to repair the hot tub < not going to happen soon or at all > or thats the general theory as related by some staff.
Anyway, he's stretching his better leg b/c the other barely bends and then says   ' and I'm working on my 6 th kidney stone '
Yikes !
I've had 3 episodes w/ kidney stones
1 hospital visit to ER ending in a shot of demarol
next two
I rolled on the floor and drank ' Canada dry ' - water juice anything wet
and they peed out
I used a strainer but never found any bits and bobs, as they say
My family Dr surmised ' well, you're probably passing crystals of uric acid '
I asked ' then what does a kidney stone feel like '
My GP only looked at me and shrugged
' nuff said I guess

Weather is seasonal ?????????? sun is out
looks warm and probably damp-ish

The  Long Range from Brett Anderson at Accuweather
Aug12 - 18      edge of cooler
Aug19 - 25      warmer
Aug26 - Sep 1 edge of rainy and edge of cooler

from 2 planks

to me

A warm and slightly humid day. Called ' seasonal ' I guess

For a Sunday, a blessing and he segues into .................

Every now and then I run across a YouTube video that takes the starch out of my snarky irreverent view of life.
The song that starts this thread is " Mercy Now "
penned by Mary Gauthier, American songtress.
She'd be shaking w/ laughter at the songstress epithet b/c she has called herself the biggest queer to ever appear at the Grand Ol' Opry.
Well, in an interview w/ Sarah Silverman on ' I Love America ' she reveals the history of ' Mercy ...
Her tale starts ' I was feeling kinda low and I mentioned to my sponsor ( AA ), I really didn't feel life was giving me what I want '
The sponsor replied ' you know Mary w/ your history
< street person, drunk and inmate > you really should be grateful..... at least you're not getting what you deserve given events in your life'
Then Mary agreed and yes ' I could use a little mercy now '  Dada ! a song is born
BTW, the assistant to SS said ' its the saddest song that I've ever heard '.
Thus, when I'm feeling down from now on - you got it

I'm singing ' Mercy, Now ' in my head.
Out loud and I just might get ' what I deserve '

To wit, the famous toast...
' we may not get what we ask for
we may not get what we need
but please don't give us what we deserve '

On YouTube, I did listen to ' Mercy, Now '
< written in Canada, BTW >

' Copperline ' by James Taylor
< I always think that you look like him >

' Kicking Down Your Door ' and ' Mismatched Eyes '
by Whitehorse

make way for the welcoming committee
" oooh, oooh, kicking down your door "

" For heathen heart that puts her faith
in reeking tube and iron shard
All valiant dust that builds on dust
And guarding, calls not Thee to guard
For frantic boast and foolish word
Thy mercy on Thy people Lord  "

66F on the back deck

Good morning

ARRGH ! or

' Aries Rising Records Group Holdings '

from " Dirk Gently, Holistic Detective " by Douglas Adams

I meant it as ' arrgh ! '
or I am thick as 2 planks

Spent part of the morning attempting to :
a) transfer songs from my Chromebook to my phone
b) turn on the Chromebook from my phone
b/c the settings said that I could

ARRGGH !
No. no joy either way

2 planks, WIN !

Learned that :
most phone cables (USB ) are charge only cables
and connected doesn't mean connected

The day did get warm w/ some overcast periods. A touch umid but a touch thats all

loosing the Cord

as in, no wire to drag around while listening w/ headphones

I didn't think that it would make much of a difference.
The former situation w/ fixed computer < long ago > or a laptop that was hard wired, meant having a wire lead to the computer or PC was no biggie.

But the Chromebook is fast loading and light. The WiFi speed is 400 Mb/s throughout the house c.f. DSL ( 7 or 15 Mb/s didn't matter much ) at 8 Mb/s b/c we are now cable and 1 Gb max for the house. Of course, that 1 Gb speed is dependant on how many neighbours are on the cable system and how many machines are running in this house.
W/ all that above, I carry the Chromebook throughout the house      < I'm in the basement as I type >

Thus, wireless headphones are neat.

The weather broke last night, H / H or its cousin got replaced by sun and drier air.

I'll venture out to garden a bit. Actually, its a weed destroying mission. The extra green is everywhere.
The bartender at the Korner Pub showed a picture of her backyard. The interlock was clean as she pointed out - no weeds in the paver cracks. I asked what she used. She answered a knife on my hands and knees!
Crikey
Talk about grunt work
Oh well. I can dream
I've tried vinegar and salt solution.
a weed torch
several different weed crack tools
and sometimes all of these spread out over a few weeks - the multi-disciplinary approach.

We shall see said the Zen Master

On the fishing front. I've got several new < newer > strategies or techniques. That being said, most of the ways are so old that I've used them before.... long ago.
" Everything old is new again " as in the song

I'm going to rummage through the tackle shelves in the workroom
- notice not the store
Yes, I have shelves w/ fishing tackle. This warehouse is in addition to the equipment in the boat. A truly awesome display of plentitude. To be fair, I am the custodian of the family's stuff - both brother and father. Not that I wouldn't be without a ton of stuff anyway. Still, I can point out the inherited stuff.

getting a Rep'

not good

Loosing fish
To be fair tho', I'm learning a technique called ' drop shotting '
And perhaps, I didn't quite read the fine print
I'm taking remedial classes today
And yes, I misunderstood the basics

Today, was parcel day, both of us got boxes from Amazon and one from Walmart on line.

Physio for plantar fasciaitis is going on. The pain has subsided and their will be ' healing 'of the heel not to far into the future.
The winners so far, wear running shoes for slippers
- ice < of course, dummy >
- stretch often < EZ PZ > watching the boob tube

My box : a pair of Active noise cancelling headphones
I asked the question on line in search the net.
" Does anyone else have trouble hearing while travelling on the plane ? "
Well, yeah !
OK, swallow < gulp > or chew gum - clears the ears

Next do you have Noise Cancelling headphones
No !
And I broke a pair of AudioVox head phones b/c the head band snapped.
Thus $ 90 later and 2 days, the box appears in the Amazon locker at TD Trust, up the street < in lieu of home delivery >.
Charged the suckers
And tried them on.
Supposedly, very comfortable
Dunno, headphones feel like headphones
BUT
These babies are BluTooth capable ( wireless )
Neato !
Sound ?
Like headphones
C.f. the expensive ones that I bought -' studio grade ' ?
Sound like headphones
Can't tell the difference !

Can you tell how sophisticated I am

early Rising

except the other guy wanted to be out on the water

NOW

Oh yeah, up at 3 AM and off

No way Jose !

This 6:00 is plenty early

The post - trip report
I got shut out - the other guy got a 3 1/2 # smallmouth

However, big win of the day
I didn't get a ticket for $350 for failure to have a fire extinguisher. The water police let me off w/ a warning and a wave good bye
Whew !

Rising Humidity

H / H is back or at least one of them
I suspect both

To wit, for fishing to-morrow, the lowest % humidity that I saw listed was 77 w/ a 96 at noon
Do you think that it will rain ?
The good part is the cloud cover, at least we won't be in direct sun all day

I'm finding that I don't fare well out in the sun.
The two younger guys really don't seem to mind
but I come in from fishing - w/ my face glowing as it throws off heat. Normally, I wash my face and put on aloe vera, as soon as I can

My uncle always said ' old age is not for the timid or faint of heart '

Gushing rain - the skies opened and opened and opened
thats how many times that I got caught in 2 1/2 h
Off and on all day - big gushers as in Noah, baby

Physio again, for the heel problem. Therapy is ultrasound, massage < my fav > and the TENS stimulation
Actually, quite a few bouts of sore today, w/ some letup

And the guys at the Ridgeline forum are making positive comments about my underseat storage. I mean they are not calling it a work of art but functional < and cheap, real cheap to build >

Monday, 5 August 2019

a Holiday Monday

beer, alcohol and gov't are closed
beer and alcohol stayed open

A report on my plantar fasiciaitis. The membrane that connects and holds muscle groups along the sole of the foot is the culprit. The symptoms are intense heel pain when you step down on the foot or even maneuver the foot.
I've got classic pain - right on the heel.

Treatment right now is ultrasound at the physio.
Ice and stretches are recommended. I'm using an emugel as well. I wear running shoes around the house. I guess the extra support from the shoe helps
spread out the contact point for less pressure.
The winners are emugel < I'm in love > and a water bottle filled and frozen. You roll the bottle w/ your sore foot heel to toe. Simple but effective

Weather has been ideal - low humidity and moderate heat. The air looks still today.
Well, I sent a picture of hack storage box in to the Ridgeline Owners Club forum.
We shall see said the Zen Master

Build a Box and

... the world will beat a path to your door

Really ?
Well, I'm proud
A box ?

The ' sitrep ' as they say in the movies.
The Ridgeline has a fold up backseat that creates space behind the front seats. The space can take luggage for example.
I've been using a window planter plastic box for storage and organization in that place. The planter is a little short ( 11 " ) for the larger side behind the driver.
The space is approx 33 " by 11 " and 8 " deep. To replace the planter I found a tomato box that fit width and depthwise but was still really short.
OK but inadequate.

Yesterday, a re-jigged the box situation - I built a box that fits almost exactly. Using the tomato box.
The tomato box is reinforced < double walled >
I cut 1 x 2 " wood straps to length. Then I cut holes at the corners top and bottom on one side of the box to accept the strapping. I used light bolts to attach the strapping to the box itself.
Then I cut smaller strapping to form a free box end at 30 " using slightly longer but still light bolts and nuts.
Thus, I've got a tomato box for one side w/ its walls and an open frame to hold stuff like the owner's manual and stiffer objects.
The pros :
cost was $ 4 ( the rubbermaid bin is $ 50 )
its collapsible ( unbolt and pull apart )
b/c if you need the whole length under the seats the containers need to be stored someplace.

The cons :
- looks homemade ( but its under the seats )
- not really a box to pick up b/c its open on one end
- b/c I left the side on the box where the strapping          goes through the space is limited at tht end
however its nothing to cut the end out if needed
but the way it is - the extra wall makes that side          stronger

#2393 or Isn't that a great lead in

is this the optimum solution for psychoanalysis

Ho Ho for mid summer

Weather is dandy, just dandy
Green is the colour here - backyard is lush
< typically, shades of brown by now >

BTW - that book " Little Paris Bookshop " was originally written in German. The book has been translated. Imagine and somehow they kept the nuances of the story < maybe >

I'm re-reading the ' Conan ' series - the fictional warrior and not the talk show host. However, I must point out Howard only completed approx 6 Conan novels - and there must be 30 novels that were co - written or ghost written.
Tragic life story for Howard. Picked on in school until he reached 6 ft and 180 lb in grade 9 or something.
He was published in dime anthologies and corresponded w/ many writers including H.P. Lovecraft.
He lived at home and cared for his mother who was emotionally needy and feigned frailness ( who knows, maybe she was ).
He took his own life around his mid 30 s.
Escapist fantasy for the reader but also for the author.

Feedback Post

not yours, mine

Controversy has erupted. I said that I had lost the biggest fish
Crikey ! I'm being challenged about ' losing ' a fish

The other guy in the boat is claiming some doubt about who lost the biggest fish. And the killer is that we both saw my largemeouth jump and throw the hook.
His were all imaginary - ' in his head '
Can't win for trying.

Also, on the Telco front, I sent a query into the Telco comments line.
And received a call back asking me to contact the tech dept.
I did. After some time during which the tech guy checked the line status, they decision was made to send a ' higher level ' person - a tech level 2.

The email I sent logged problems over a 20 day period w/ 8 items mentioned.

The techie 2, decided to switch out the TV box which receives the WiFi signal from the modem for the TV.
As it turns out, he switched boxes twice. The replacement malfunctioned right in front of him.
Thus, a ' new - new ' TV box is in place.
To boot, he figured the modem and TV box are so close - why not hard wire the sucker.
BTW, I really haven't mentioned the Telco by name. I found out that that this blog is out on the internet.
' Duh ' ? of course
That would mean if you typed in the actual name of the Telco - one of the hits would be this blog.
I decided better not to announce this blog that way.

How do I know, I tried it once. I searched for line of a poem that I mentioned in the blog and
Yepper, the blog post was one of ' 800,000 ' hits in 2 milliseconds or somesuch.

Weather. Last night, was actually jacket temperature when I poked my head out. So, the temperature dropped down big time. Last week, we had several nights w/ 80 F overnight.

This is a long weekend or as they say ' bank holiday ' in England. The weekend is called ' Civic ' holiday

As well, I developed ' plantar fasciaitis ' which translates as very sore heel. In the morning especially, the pain is like stepping on a stone under your heel.

Plus, this morning, I noticed a tiny blister on my wrist. This pattern is usually the beginning of my plant allergy. Left untreated the blisters will spread up my arm- to just below the elbow. Next, it moves to my chest and / or crosses over to my other arm - wrist to elbow.
Terrific !

On the social front, a girl that lived on our street in the fifties up to 1964, called me. She has called me twice before. The only time that we met after her move away was in 1970 ( approx ).
So, fifty years later, we hook for coffee. Betcha can't wait for the feedback for that one.
My cousin asked ' does this happen to you often ? '
And I said people from my past are contacting me.
?????????? I dunno

The report : she knew me better than I knew her. A lot of history as we lived very close
And then she says ' when my father died, I stayed at your house for a week or so.
I didn't remember
Holey kamoley, Batman !

This AM went to the physio lady. She confirmed everything that I researched on the ' net.
Except, I didn't know that the pain could be anywhere on your sole b/c the plantar fasciaitis runs from toes to heel.
My pain is right on the heel

Fishing Yesterday

the ones that got away

The little sunfish swirled in the water as I cranked him in, a silver - gold torpedo sailed out of the weeds and grabbed him. The musky flicked his tail and swam off w/ my reel screaming. That was 20 seconds and then the sunfish came back

A sudden downward drag had me raising the rod as far as I could. The line was staying down and the rod was bent - the largemouth cleared the water and threw the hook.

OK so what did you catch ?
A couple of pound or pound and half smallmouth bass
Partly sunny, w/ a breeze almost all day. But the direction swung around even over an hour or two.
Similar to-day it seems
