Along w/ 50 F for today, the takeaway from the CBC online is exactly that. We have chances for flurries, rain and freezing drizzle at various times today. The temperature is 20 F right now.

To the lead in. Oil producers announce a continuation of oil cutbacks.
So, where is the good news
Follow up to the lead. After the news on City Pulse, a financial analyst explained that this was expected.

Follow up on the weather. Well, the sun broke thru. Totally differnet than this AM.
Pink eye update is no change - still pink

On the what did you do front. I re - converted a converted fishing rod. In English, I had / have many rods bought long ago - say 1980, intended to drift fish the Nottawasaga for steelhead. Longer rods were an asset. Not in a boat. Thus, 2 years ago I shortened a 8 1/2 ft rod down to 7 ft 8 in. Worked out not bad. Then I did the same to a second rod. I got to thinking, now, that you know how do it, how about under 7 ft in length.
Aha, you say, big deal. But this shortening required removing 2 guides and swapping a smaller guide's position w/ a larger guide. I loose a guide but w/ the loss of length < one less guide is OK >. Further, the guides are glued and thread bound for look and strength.
Its hard to remove the lacquer coat on the threading and leave it looking esthetic. Oh well.
The progress report shows the guide solid and in position. I glued in a re-used cork grip. Whats next is a cover or finish of the butt end < an exposed rod tube is visible now > As well, the rod needs to be balanced as it would be w/ a reel in place.
This balancing makes long time usage during the day much more comfortable. Oh, sorry the new re - re - shortening produced a 6ft 10 inch rod. The longer rods are awkward in the boat especially w/ 3 guys and their rods.
The regular fishing partners feel compelled to bring 5 fishing rods each - YES thats 10 rods that they bring and add my three or four well, you can walk across the boat balancing on rods < NO, kidding,  a little >.
Summing a 8 1/2 ft rod is now down to under 7 ft.
