exploded on our street but I suspect that this is not a local event
The trigger was a massive charge of wind coming out of the Arctic and channeling through Saskatchewan. The air mass borught cold and wind but snow totals only ballooned when warm Gulf air shoved the whole mess East and North.
The prediction was for the Great Lakes to catch the tail of the collision but w/ the lakes open that there existed a large chance that moisture would be picked up and dumped in traditional areas.
Toronto is in a kind of shadow between two ' lake affected ' regions - Niagara and further East, Kingston / Belleville. Still, we appear to ahve gotten exactly what forecasters had us pegged for.
We shall see said the Zen Master < hey, this guy seems to know a lot about weather and stuff ! >
The aftermath : snow blew in approx hip deep at the garage end of the driveway. The snow, also, blew in along the side walkway and back deck. I shovelled off the side walkway, back deck and cleared snow from the front of the lower glass sliders. The driveway is the job for the snow service
