On the Lee Valley catalog. Knives. I own a collection of LV offered blades. In fact, the drawer in the tool cabinet is labelled blades. Perhaps the star of the bunch is a Lagouile knife. In fact, there are 2 Lagouiles < one is not a LV item >. These are 4 inch blades in a wood folder design. The more expensive one is inlaid pattern handle but the blades are Lagouile. Keen edge, easy to hone and useful.
The history of Lagouile goes back to the 1700 s and a rivalvry w/ Thiers < a neighbouring town > the ladder back blade and bee motif are characteristic of the brand. I gave away a Lagouile when dad died.
I wanted the knives to be used.
As well, I have a Douk Douk utility folder and a Japanese Dozuki blade. The DD is a workers knife < as in stick the blade in wood and frop a hammer > and the Dozuki is a razor in a folder design.
